3AT governor woes... help!
Turbone replied to Cold Chuck's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Looking at the tranny from the front, on the left side of the plate theres a round head with one side cut off. Is this lined up so the plate misses it? All the gears are pressed on the shaft, so I dont think they could slide forward. Was the seal replaced? It may not be seated all the way in. Theres also a bearing a little further in. I dont know if this is easy or hard to pull. Have you tried giving the shaft a rap with a block of wood and hammer? -
OK so this is how you treat me?

Might be as simple as the rotor coming off. All you need to do is pull the cap off to find out. If its still tight, then you can check to see if the drivers side timing belt is broke by cranking the engine. -

Find another one. Preferably from down south or out west. At least one with no rust. $800 from coast to coast to ship. -
Just wanted to thank Turbone

Glad to hear its on the road now. You will have to stop by sometime now;) -
You have a point. But in Crazyhorses case, theres nothing there of any worth. Not even nukes (as far as I know) :-p Sorry Paul Oh, and our nukes wouldnt be the first targets. Air bases and the like would be. Then larger industrial areas. The nukes are in hardened bunkers.

Yeah, but they are crazy enough to blame it on us. It will give them a reason to push the button :-\

Hmmm, I think the only music your going to hear is what you will be playing on a harp :-p Shouldnt be any need for the USMB either.

Not necessarily. I live 1/2hr away from EC and have lots of parts. What made you camp in the parking area? Sounds like your ordeal was self inflicted?

I have a few sacrificial digi boards I can use :-p And I couldnt remember if it was the temp or oil that needed to be changed. If I can get a adapter harness made up, this would be a nice alternative for those with bad digidash's. -

Yeah, I just spent 1/2hr desiphering the parts book. The only difference was the plate had a different part # for one month in 87 I also wouldnt bother putting the hill holder in. Brakes lines need to be messed with and it would have to be adjusted correctly. -

I'm not sure you need to replace the radius rod plates. I know others that have done the swap and they didnt. The EA81 Soobs, yes it needed to be changed. The radius rod is a stabilizer that goes from the lower a-arm to a plate on the body. The tranny x-member is bolted to it also. According to my parts book, they are the same. -

Theres 2 things that would also need to be changed. The fuel sending unit and the temp sending unit. The temp sender isnt that big a deal, its on the intake by the thermostat. The fuel sender is in the tank, but its easily accessible. There a round cover on the back of the tank where the wireing comes to. Just remove and replace with a analog unit. I've got the digi plugs for a convertion harness like GD mentions, its just a matter of figuring out whats what. If you need wiring schematics, I have a 83 FSM supplement that should cover it all. Joost, comparing a EA82 XT digi to a EA81 Coupe digi is like apples to oranges. Unfortunately its not plug and play. -

Unless its dropped right on top of you :-p Then again, you live in the middle of No Where, USA, so theres not much worry of that happening Hey, I see you have Wall-e as your avatar. I was just wondering if Wallmart is going to use him as thier new Mascot

Do you think this carb will work????
Turbone replied to hiltz2o's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
No, I think the only old Holley that comes close is the one for Pinto's and/or Vega's. And I definately would buy from a seller with 66.7% feedback. -
Keep a points disty handy. When the big one hits, just swap out

I said it. The old digi dashes are extremely sensitive to any flucuation in current. If the XT6 alt had a rebuild done to it (new internal reg, diodes) and the DD had some new upgraded parts, it would probably not be a problem. The alternative I gave her was to convert it to analog. -
