  1. Never had to do it but here is an idea. Disconnect the return line to the res. Plug the port in the res. Place line in a container in a position where you can see the out put. Start car and pour new PS fluid in the res. as old pumps out. When old coming out looks like new stop and reconnect the line. No chance of getting air in the system. Same way an auto trans is flushed.
  2. I happen to have a line on a cheap EA27 with all the stuff (ECU wire harness ect) Please note the cheap part. Suggs could go on about WRX and other swaps but cheap is not in the equation with these. of course I could rip one of my Legacy T-waons apart -- NOT!!
  3. I did not disconnect my AC comp. when I did my swap. The bracket for it needs swapped though. As did the PS pump bracket IIRC I left it connected and just moved it to the battery tray. Mine is 134 from the factory. Thought all of this vintage were?
  4. Is there any possibility you have the input /output lines reversed?
  5. Josh (Legacy777) has done a most excellent complete documentation on this. Please see his website under "Modifications" http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/subaru.html
  6. Ill take this all as the link Nipper provided is not correct or my ill. has everyone corn-fused or is incorrect??
  7. "Could a gasket or "o" ring in the oil pump have blown?" Possible, I try a new sender unit first.
  8. Scott you'll no doubt start the great debate Synth vs Dino I'll just share my personal choice. I have been running with Castrol 20w/50 for many many years in all my turbos. I do use a TT on most, but have never (knock knock) had an oil related problem.
  9. Well Nip is it okay if Mr. Godfrey brings his uke?? (I'm thinkin' you and I are the only ones reading this post that might understand)
  10. FYI the HH spring, cable and assm. also function as the return spring for the clutch fork agreed it is important. This works via gravity. A small check ball is held away from blocking the output port via a detent in the rotating shaft. If the shaft does not rotate back to it's spring held position, thus opening the port... the brakes stay locked.
  11. I feel sorry for ya mate but maybe there is a semantics problem "runs" may not = "drives"
  12. Link to Ebay note "It is being sold as is, where is." Ebay Brat
  13. no yes maybe Corn-fused If the following is correct??? The front and rear diff outputs become the two rear axles in an open diff car. The VC will lock up with the free wheeling rear driveshaft as it is ment to. The rear output will spin like the wheel in the air. Hot darn, I is one corn-fused country bumkin.
  14. Caveat Emptor -- don't know if the bay of E (vil) subscribes to this policy
  15. questions 1) is the spark generating devise driven by the camshaft if so - no belt --> no spark 2) Have you visted http://subarujusty.proboards20.com/index.cgi
  16. Nip, good link (poor edit?) this is the Subaru system so they say If so and if the diff section is the connection between the tranny input shaft (a.k.a. engine output) and the drive to the front and rear diffs.. I doubt this is true?? Would this not act like an open rear diff with one rear wheel off the ground and only spin the wheel in the air? i.e. the rear non connected driveshaft I think I'm seeing this all wrong??
  17. If you try it...don't forget to swap the flex plate EJ 22 is smaller so it fits and all is fine untillllllllll you try and bolt up the torque con. yea this is expierence speaking vapor cannister and rear vapor cover swap- oil pump bolts tightening are also should do's
  18. thanks for the correction numb, dam OBD II 97 OB I just got, has me old school cranial cavity corn-fused more than normal. Although... how about the TPS not being adjusted properly? That might mess with the ECU output to the IAC?? The EJ22 TPS does still have an idle switch -doesn't it??
  19. Howdy Phiz, nice work you've done on your Brumby As for the idle problem, it is no doubt being caused by the missing VSS signal. The "brain" needs to see this signal so it will know to engage the "idle map" under a certain speed. There is a "limp home mode" that it may default to after a time, it doesn't see this signal. There is a guy that built a sand rail without the speedometer head (where the VSS signal is generated). He used magnets mounted on a DOJ and a reed switch to simulate this signal. I'll see if I can find the link. The periodic clock dimming edt. EA82's will pulse the fuel pump and some other relays at this frequency when the diagnostic connectors are plugged together. (Unplugged while driving, these must be plugged together to set the timing at idle). Maybe your ECU does this also and these plugs are connected. The relay or?? is dragging the voltage down to these units. Might want to put a analog voltmeter on the fuel pump to see if it to is "dimming" -- ie. loosing voltage.
  20. Mr. Stone, do you know anyone that owns an acetylene torch setup? They would also have a set of tip cleaners. They are small wires with serration's on them. Every plugged nozzle I have had has been cleared using these. Might be EZ'r than getting the nozzle off and then...???
  21. older than dirt younger than water guess that make me ---> mud
  22. Just so we all have a better "mind eye" view of what Jim is up against, here is a shot from the work position. I placed a piece of yellow chalk into the hole to simulate the broken bolt. Now he will probably remove the rad and fans but the AC condenser coils are still there.
  23. Bratboy, Miles make a good point, you may want to get a "brake cube" Advance Auto, Pep Boys ect about 6 bucks Stick a 3/8" extention and rachet Push and turn.
