  1. I will have to get you that part you need for your hitachi carb.I think you are still having issues with your gaskets sealing, but then again it stumps me because it does it after you restart it when its warm. The guy I told you about before that had the 1980 suby wagon had trouble with his choke sticking so he put a knife in the carb to let it stick open.Yes thats the same guy that used fishing line for the throttle cable when he broke it.We will get your car working good for ya.
  2. I should be able to make it.I may bring my vw jetta/subaru hybrid. Just kidding. Those who have seen my car may understand.
  3. Nice Job!I like to see people think outside the box or so to speak on stuff like this.More power to ya!I am interested to see what you come up with.
  4. If you want I could ask my brother for you that lives in Soldotna. He works at Riverside CarQuest.Let me know if you want me to ask him.
  5. I like the wheels. The multi color looks cool like its sitting in the shade partly or something.Very nice project though.
  6. Ooohhh so very cool.Sweetness!
  7. Sounds nice for only $75! Very cool.Sounds like a worthy candidate for a lift and some knobby tires.
  8. For oil I recomend synthetic.I use Mobil 1 but that's my preference.I think you should have your timing belts replaced just for peace of mind since you just bought the car and are unsure of last change.Good luck. The motor you have the (EJ22) is a very reliable engine.Should give you years of trouble free service.Oh and welcome to the board.
  9. I think your car is nice and it wouldn't take too much to make it work good for ya.I would just put an intercooler on there.I think that would be where I start.I think that would make it work better for ya.Don't give up on your car it will come around again.I would be up for working on it with Rick when it warms up again.I just gave Rick an intercooler yesterday.Grab it when he's not looking.J/K!
  10. Take your cap off of your dist. and see if the rotor turns when you crank it.The little pin may have went Kaputsky.
  11. Is there extra vibration on the left side due to a worn motormount or something like that?
  12. Looks really nice.I think it will look great with a lift.
  13. Don't really think it's your starter.I would test your charging system.Battery is prblly the culprit. If you can't check the charging system with a voltmeter then take it to a checker auto or similar and they usually check them for free.I have seen some weird things arise when cold weather sets in on some batteries.I maintain a fleet of vehicles in colorado and sometimes cold weather can make the batteries go bad fast.
  14. Was it cold all weekend? If it was cold then I don't think you hurt a thing.I used to leave mine plugged in all the time when in Alaska because it was -20deg quite a bit.
  15. Could it be your clutch T/O bearing?I think you trans mount would make this noise all the time if it needed to be replaced.
  16. Gas cap?Where I work at we had a fleet vehicle fail smog test because of the cap and it was an '05 Trailblazer!
  17. Ya you can definately do it.You would need the adapter plate and you would have to figure what wires go where from the auto trans to the d/r.It's definately doable.
  18. The best I can offer is get a haynes manual or something like that and start looking at subaru engines.Or just google about what you would like to know. What codes are you looking for?Are you looking to see what the engine numbers mean?If so here you go: Ea71: 1.6L 4cyl. OHV Ea81: 1.8L 4cyl. OHV Ea82: 1.8L 4cyl. OHC Those are the possibilities to what engines your subarus have. The first 2 being possibilities for you 1980,most likely the ea71.Your newer one has the Ea82 in it.Don't know if you needed this info but I hope it helps.
  19. Thats a really great project.Looks like it will be great when you are done. That interior is really nice.
  20. I would say try higher grade fuel. For me I have found Bradly Petroleum and Sinclair gas to be good quality and it's home based here in the US.
  21. Hmmm.... I would go with the reading of 1mm too short due to compression after extended use.I think 1mm seems like a bit.Maybe .5mm? Also what valve springs have you measured this on?Intake or exhaust or both?
  22. Are they ones you had on the motor before?Or are they brand new?
