  1. Thanks for the tip.Ya I definately need to rejet it.Had some corrosion inside from sitting for so long.(White powder)I have it apart and I am cleaning it and its cleaning up well.I forgot to add earlier it is a DGAV but converted to electric.I am pretty amazed how simple they are compared to a hitachi.Kinda reminds me of the carbs I had on dirtbikes and snowmobiles.
  2. Looks like its electric.Has that little brass tab connector on the side. Also it must be a pretty old school carb cause when I pulled it apart it has the brass float. Is it a good idea to change to the plastic?(Float doesn't have any leaks)
  3. Well I just got a weber carb today from a guy who had one for sale off of a BMW 2002. The carb is the 32/36 DGAV. I got it for $30 so I think I got a good deal. Will the DGAV work correctly on a suby engine? I just wanted to make sure it wasn't all backwards like the DFAV.The carb I got needs some cleaning cause it has a good layer of gunk on it and needs a rebuild.
  4. PC is looking really good.I like the rack and your front bumper with the lights.Looks ready to tear it up. Also thanks for keeping an eye out for me for cars.
  5. Put your car on a lift if you can and inspect the exhaust for holes or around the spots where donut gaskets are.
  6. Talk to (Jamie) Subie Gal at Chaplins Subaru. She is very helpful with parts and they always have good prices.
  7. Sounds as if it is grounding when the brakes are applied causing it to stop blinking.Go back over your wires and check them.
  8. That thing is really cool.I could only imagine someone putting a big racing spoiler on the back of the cover for high speed cornering.Ummm just kidding I hope no one does that.I really like that cover though.
  9. Yep thats right.I have had to do that several time on fleet vehicles that I maintain.People have lost their keys in the snow where I work and thats what I do is just go to the dealership like he just said.
  10. I agree. The system sounds like it has air in it and you just need to purge it with some pressure.
  11. You could put an LSD in the rear is what most people do,or Lincoln lock the rear by welding it.I would say go with the LSD.
  12. Thats helarious.Plus adding weight to it anyway like putting a winch on the front, ect.I also am a fan of aluminum.I don't think you need to use solid aluminum blocks. But the olsen twins weigh maybe 100 lbs for both of them.
  13. I don't have any real advise for ya.Should be pretty strait forward.I would replace both lines if you can just to prevent it from happening again.
  14. Jerry DeMoss replied to cd45's topic in Off Road
First check out a couple companies that make lifts.Depending on what model subaru you have then you can decide how much you want to lift it.I would say most people are happy with a 4" lift. The 2 companies that should be looked at are: Ozified or AA(Allied Armament).I would recomend going with either 14" or 15" pugs with the 28" superswampers.
  15. Sounds like a fun project. At the time I don't know anyone who needs a prop but I will keep it in mind.I as well like the wooden prop better. Some say they prefer it for open pit airplanes.(sounds a little different) One kit plane I have wanted to build for some time is a down scaled version: Slepcev Storch. STOL aircraft capable of taking off in 50-60ft.Would be the ultimate bush flying aircraft.I wanted to build it with the subaru EA81 engine.
  16. For the exhaust I would go with 2.5" just cause you said you are going to build the brat most likely for rally so you will need a free flowing exhaust.I think that thing will sing with a 2.5" exhaust.Should sound good coming out of the side.I would love to see some pics if you got em of your project.
  17. What type of airplane? I am an A&P mechanic so I also love airplanes.
  18. I believe TurboXT's sister Cutie-Ru has 9.5:1 on her turbo'd xt.
  19. Ya I am sure you could do that.I would love to see a picture of that.A rally brat or hatch would be really cool with some good suspension travel.
  20. Yes I agree. I would like to help as well ,but need to know what you are asking first.Sounds like a good deal for $300.
  21. I will have to get you that part you need for your hitachi carb.I think you are still having issues with your gaskets sealing, but then again it stumps me because it does it after you restart it when its warm. The guy I told you about before that had the 1980 suby wagon had trouble with his choke sticking so he put a knife in the carb to let it stick open.Yes thats the same guy that used fishing line for the throttle cable when he broke it.We will get your car working good for ya.
  22. I should be able to make it.I may bring my vw jetta/subaru hybrid. Just kidding. Those who have seen my car may understand.
  23. Nice Job!I like to see people think outside the box or so to speak on stuff like this.More power to ya!I am interested to see what you come up with.
  24. If you want I could ask my brother for you that lives in Soldotna. He works at Riverside CarQuest.Let me know if you want me to ask him.
