Putting it back together this weekend and will get it running middle of the week... Took a couple of weeks to get new gaskets and re-honed the cylinders (and refocus)

Cleaning out the garage to fit in the next project (70 Datsun roadster) and found the 50# bucket of rust I cut out of her. I had always intended to take a picture of it but then lost it in my garage

  • Big thanks to Pooparu... two tone stripes he created are awesome.

Well... Long story short, one of the cam bolts busted off in the case and it took a week to drill out the old bolt without destroying the threads (If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all).

Got the engine back together and primed the heck out of it (packed the oil pump and channels).

Started 1st crank and runs great... Readjusted the valves (hydro valves) because they were out of whack once they loaded up with oil.

Got a business trip and will finish up when I get back.

Nice to be at the point of just a few finishing touches. I'll be able to call it done by the end of the month :D

Got the Cyclops hooked up and installed chrome bar and skid plate... Dying to start driving but roads are still too nasty.

My god, you could eat off of any part of this Brat.
Clean!

Seeing this gives me an idea of what mine looked like when it was new.

Yup, Mine is same color. Hope to be able to repaint some day.

So I think Subaru needs to make this pic their new masthead for their home page!

My son and I took the BRAT to the Corvette Club Car Show on Memorial Day.  One of two imports in the show (Karmen Ghia was the other) and it was entered in the truck category... fun little show.
