February 22, 200620 yr ok, so i just got photoshop today, and i always had this thought about some black tell me what u guys think of this(dont make fun of my photo chopping skills, first time using it here) i think it looks sick though! any advise to do or not to do? or prep work and what paint? anything appreciated. thanks
February 22, 200620 yr Might be helpful to have this photo to compare too mate. I am thinking about this for my bro's 83 DL wagon.. Ask this question to yourself: Do I like the black better? I don't think it looks bad, I don't really see much difference, its all good to me. What about a gunmetal shade of gray?
February 22, 200620 yr Author thanks Phizinza, austin did the grey, so i was thinking black i think that the black will go better with my trim and stuff, those alloys arnt gona be on that much either, im gona have my super swampers on with the black pugs.(btw im driving in that pic) lol:banana:
February 22, 200620 yr Author WOW THATS COOL eh, but remember, im spray painting it, and i want to keep some of the wierd green color, i think i wanna use that paint scheme on a lowered wagon
February 22, 200620 yr You know what i think. Should also trim your front fender alittle too while your at it. -Brian
February 22, 200620 yr that green is too cool to paint over. if you must accent it how about a flat camo green?
February 22, 200620 yr that green is too cool to paint over. i agree, how about leave the top green and paint the bottom black?
February 22, 200620 yr I painted the lower section of my Brumby to give a two tone look, i used the black rubberised paint, to help keep it safe from stone chips and so forth. I've also trimmed the front fender up to the bumper line, i think it looks better than stock...
February 22, 200620 yr Author ya, i was going to leave the top green. I'm thinking about using some bed liner instead of paint. probably a lot more durable, and cool factor +1.
February 22, 200620 yr More like cool factor +1 million... Durabak it. I would choose black, but they do have 16 colors...
February 22, 200620 yr here's my Dad's soob I fixed up for him about 4 years ago.... That might be the first soob wagon that I have seen that actually looks fast! nice work.
February 22, 200620 yr Yea, i used bedliner in the back tray and in the wheel wells. I just found the rubberised paint looked better on the outside painted surfaces of the vehicle, personal preference i guess. I've found the rubber paint to be very durable, no scratches or chips yet after a year and i'm sure it helps with lowering road noise too.
February 22, 200620 yr For a second, I thought that first picture was my car. Except mine was the silver blue, with dark mettallic blue underneath. Looked pretty sharp. I'm a big fan of the two tone -- my current one is the gray-brown, with dark green below the door molding. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=46066&highlight=two+tone For prep, I'd wash it really good, then rough it up with sandpaper to take all the gloss off. If you're really into it, a good layer of primer underneath would be good, but I just sprayed mine.
February 22, 200620 yr I dig it! Of course, I did exactly the same thing to my car with black spray on bedliner:rolleyes: . I think it makes the car seem more "functional". At first it looked weird to me, but that look definitely grows on you.
February 22, 200620 yr HA, I sprayed up to the rubber molding and over the wheel arches on my silver '90 wagon with Wal-Mart bedliner, it took I think two cans. I also sprayed over the "turbo" decal because I wanted to enjoy my hairdryer in private. I prepped it pretty good, scuff-sanded the rockers and then used wax remover to wipe it down, it took forever to get the asphalt splatters off the car. I didn't do any bodywork on it so the rust bleeds through, I just spray another coat when the rust shows through too bad. I also painted the roof a brighter shade of silver, so now the car is 3-tone. It does help it stay cooler in the Florida sun though. *edit* sory about the thumbs-down at the top of this post, don't know how that hapened. My bad; sorry bout that.
February 22, 200620 yr I didn't do any bodywork on it so the rust bleeds through, I just spray another coat when the rust shows through too bad. I've been known to do that too!
February 23, 200620 yr honestly the gun metal on black looks bad rump roast yeah i think its awesome!!!!
