I figure I would share my project over the last few years, it's not really a mazda, it's not really a subaru, I just call it a Mazdaru and is pure awesome in my eyes. So on to the car. It's an 1983 shell, hanging on the front of it is all second generation RX-7 front steering, brakes and some struts that I built out of some Subaru STI struts with some RX-7 tabs grafted onto them. The rear axle is out of Toyota 4-runner. The engine is a EJ22 out of an early 90s Subaru Legacy along with the full chassis and engine harness. The transmission is a W58 out of a celica/supra using bill hinchers bell housing. This project is the whole reason that bell housing was made…

So, I had a weird dream last night that a friend of mine came pulling up in a 96 Subaru Legacy(personally my least liked Subaru). It was slammed to the ground, yellow in color with a big carbon fiber air dam/ lip up front. But the weirdest part was the fact that it had a newer Mustang front clip. It sounds odd. I did my best to quickly throw together a similar image with Paint. But I did happen to dream I had a dark green 2nd gen Brat with sleek black topper with a subtle lip molded in the back. It almost reminded me of the 1st gen bed covers/louvers. I apologize for this post. Ive have a fever so Im not right in the head at the moment.

I am looking to buy a runabout car (not to be confused with "beater"), to replace a 1999 Dodge minivan and gain in reliability and gas mileage. There is a 2006 Vibe offered locally by a private seller: one owner, garaged, with records. It looks like a very practical and bulletproof "gas-and-go" vehicle with Toyota drivetrain, powered by 1ZZ-FE engine. Timing chain, external water pump driven by serpentine belt, 120K spark plug replacement interval. The AWD is primitive compared to Subaru but comes with a sturdy double-wishbone rear suspension unlike torsion beam found on FWD Matrix/Corolla. It has rear drum brakes, but so does the current minivan. Any thoughts?

I'm having separation anxiety. This car has been in my family since new. It's in rough shape and has been unregistered since 2004. She has been sitting in my grandmother's driveway since then and is now loaded up and on its way to my cousins garage in Pennsylvania. Can't wait to get her back :-)

Since I was a little kid (I'm talking like as far back as I can remember) my father has had a motorcycle frame sitting on a milk-crate with half a motor sitting in it. Parts for the bike were laying around here and there. As I got older I learned that Dad had had that bike since the late 60's or early 70's and, at one point, it was all put together and he used to ride it. That was all before I was born, and by the time I came around he must have decided to restore it a bit, so he stripped it down, sent off many of the metal parts to be chromed, and then kind of forgot about it for various reasons. That was back in the early 90's. Interest has been re-ignited now, and …

i just bought this truck (third blue car ive bought in a row) and it has a weber carb on it with a redline adapter, it looks alot like the webers for our subarus, but i dont know carbs to well and am fighting a couple issues with it. firstly it had a lot of vaccume leaks when the P.O. got it and they fixed them, but didn't readjust afterwards. so i fixed a couple more vaccum leaks and re adjusted the screw on the front of the carb (im unsure weather that is for the idle air or the fuel mixture) and since i couldn't find any sighns of a fuel air mixture (if that screw is the idle air like i thought) so thats all i did (by adjusting i mean i turned it down untill it stalle…

Just one of few of the non-Subaru "toys" I have lying around. Got this when I was much, much younger, it's been in storage since '05. It hasn't run since, so I decided to revive it, as it simply wouldn't run before Thursday... Aside from replacing the clutch, I changed the oil, plug, fuel lines, relocated the gas tank away from the engine, did a mild carb cleanup, and made adjustments to the steering and pedals to tighten things back up. I have some future plans for it, but not until next year. Obviously my Subaru comes first. From pulling it out of storage: To bringing it back to life, adjusted and reassembled with most of the roll cage. No…

Folks, I'm generally posting about my 99 Impreza Outback Sport but about six months ago, I picked up a 96 Geo Prism from a kid. Great engine/trans (Toyota) and I knew it needed new front wheel bearings and a set of rear struts. Long story short: for a bunch of reasons, the car sat outside in the No. WI.. weather for six months. Got to work on the rear struts today and ran into a snag trying to get the rear tire off! Aaaargh. Whoever this kid had working on the car, obviously used an impact wrench on the wheel lugs and they were REALLY tight. Now I can't get the rim off the wheel. I know by reading the forum that someone had once suggested loose…

Hey everybody, I want to pick some brains on what is causing a problem for a friends Jeep. First off it is a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.2L. What seems to be happening is his injectors are not firing. The vehicle has spark and I can keep it running by dribbling gas down the throttle body. I have checked for fuel pressure and I have 42 lbs at the rail. Does anyone have an idea of where I could start looking or what would kick the injectors to work. I am thinking of renting a node tester and just seeing if the injectors have pulse or not. Thanks for the help in advance.

I was just wondering if there are any V.W. fans in this forum and if anyone knows any good V.W. forums. I know a guy that has a 60's v.w. square back wagon that is in good shape that needs some body work soon (before it rots out). I believe it's a 67 or 68. From what I understand it hasn't been driven since 97 but is still in good shape. I made a deal with him to try and sell it, hopefully to someone that would take care of it and restore it. If there is any interest I will post some pics of it up in the next couple weeks.

driving a rotted-out legacy wagon that won't pass next year. found a 2000 v70 wagon, 260k, no rust, 5speed. drives nice, leather, electric driver's seat/windows/sunroof. seller runs a shop, bought it at auction, did all work required for inspection and will replace a bad rear rotor on purchase. asking $1995. seems fair. like a safe car for the teen driver. opinions from my most trusted usmb acquaintances?

Hey, 97 nissan pickup, KA24 4 cyl, Manual 4x4 so I drove my truck to a friends house, stopped at a gas station on the way back. turned off the truck at the pump and it dieseled for about 10 seconds and wont start. will crank fine but doesn't even attempt to fire up or even sputter. when you turned the key there was no check engine light that would normally come on to tell you that it is functioning. Had it towed home. checked this morning and the engine control fuse was blown. replaced it and now I sometimes get a check engine light when the key is on accessory and sometimes not. when I dont its the same as before, cranks with no attempt to start. …

So my wife and I are looking for another car and I came across another '00 Grand Cherokee (up in steamboat, roughly 3 hours away) with ~ 198k. Now, On the listing it says it has been ran with low oil and that it makes a noise from under the hood. its still drive-able but makes noise. All things that my old Jeep with about the same miles did; even the low oil and noise. Turns out it was just the Rod bearings that needed replaced. My question is: would it be worth the trip up there to even look at it and potentially buy it? They are selling it for a killer 1300 bucks what all else *could* it need. I believe its the 4.7 V8, I did have some issues with sensors at around …

I bought this truck a little over a year ago with NO intentions on keeping it. I soon fell in love with the little beater and slowly began to fix her up. its a 2wd 2.2l automatic. Not exactly the best combination but it works. In the short time I've had it Ive put a new rear end under it, all new brakes, paint, LOTS of half-a$$ body work, stereo system, head gasket(soon to need another), rims, dual exhaust from an 80s trans am, camo carpet, k&n filter, tailgate net, roll in bed-liner, and to come...axle seals, pinion seal, clutch fan delete, new rear tires(295/50r15:) ), clean up the engine bay, new headliner and LOTS more. The Day i brought it home No…
