2010 subaru WRX. I'm looking to swap out a junk yard engine. Can I use a 2.4 and why do the seller's make it seem like the engines are interchangeable? I'm looking to stay stock. How do i confirm I'm getting the exact same specifications engine?

I have a 2017 Forester XT 2.0 Turbo which developed an engine noise that at first I thought was ignition knocking, because the onset of noise was during summer and it had not occurred earlier in the year. The noise manifested itself only at full throttle and high rpm -- which made me very alarmed. Despite chats with at least 3 Subaru dealer service advisors, no one came up with a better suggestion than "don't use Costco fuel". In August, I myself was underneath the car and noticed the attached photo appearance which immediately suggested to me a possible exhaust leak. I now found the service advisors at least agreed I should bring my car in. The surprise ending…

Hey. Long time, no see. Everything looks different here. So got a buddy with an 06 Baja and he has decided to do some preventative maintenance and replace the turbo. So if he decided to upgrade, what's the way to go with a mild upgrade without needing to do more work like a clutch or BOV or anything silly like that? I found a TD05-16G but I don't really know if that would fit the bill. What he would be looking for is maybe a bit more fun out of the car, but maybe the stock turbo would be fine if the price got out of hand with an upgrade. Are there any recommendations on where to buy? Thanks.

I am looking for some engine builder advice. I have a EJ205 that came out of a 05 WRX with 144k miles. The engine was still running strongand still making boost but was very dirty on the outside and i did not know the history so I decided to pull the engine and break it down. The engine came apart pretty easy, no broken or rusty bolts. No visual signs of damage. At this point I will measure everything as specified in the FSM and figure out what machine work will need to be done. I want to ask though about bearing clearances. I have not done a turbo engine before. All my experience is just stock N/A power and building back to stock specs. I would like to …

I've got over 166K miles on my mostly-original 2004 WRX. I love the combination of midrange/topend power and fuel economy of my stock set-up, but have always been disappointed by the lack of off-boost torque. Since I'm going to need to replace the clutch within the next couple of years, I was wondering about which would be the best combination of parts to give me that putting-around-town tractor-like grunt that I desire. At first I was thinking about stroking my EJ205 with a stock-stroke EJ257 crank and rods, using Mahle pistons to give me a "2.2" liter stroker engine. I hear it's really popular and cost-effective, but after finding out that it only gives slightly mor…

I have a 2006 model Subaru Impreza. I made several modification works on it and had engine service from one Subaru engine repair shop in Edmonton. Now I am thinking of changing the mufflers. I have to choose a muffler which will not affect the power and mileage of the vehicle. Also I need to know whether changing exhaust system affects the vehicle?

Hi guys, Upon deciding the stage 2 wasn't enough, I have decided to look at getting a bigger turbo and the supporting mods to go with it. Research hasn't lead me anywhere productive and I have run into the problem of knowing if a turbo will bolt on or fitment treatment is required. I originally leaned towards a blouch td05-18g but later found out it wont fit. Is there a list of turbos I can find anywhere that have power ratings and are known to fit this model forester? Thanks!

Anyone know the size of the snap ring for the HKS SSQV BOV? Installing on on a WRX and the snap ring bent out of dimension and won't fit.. Might have to go to HKS to get their $30 kit, but would rather spend $10 at Fastenal as much as I hate that place..

Working with a bone stock 2004 WRX. I put a cheap N1 clone cat back on it and that's all that's done to it.. We want to eventually get into modding this car pretty heavy but street able and reliable. 250 AWHP is all she really needs. which is low by hybrid standards I think.. Basically 50-75hp over stock should do, but want some room to turn the boost up for track days since a track JUST opened up in our area this summer I'm the most 'fun' way of doing this is to build an EJ255 shortblock with the EJ205 heads, creating a hybrid STI.. I've read the early EJ255 pistons have more dish so when used with the 2.0L heads they have closer to stock compression than EJ257 pisto…

I want to turbo my 2005 Subaru Legacy 3.0r. I just want to know if it is worth it and wether it is possible. I was hoping that i might be able to use an sti set up and work off that. I only want to put out about 10-12 Psi and hoping that it will increase the performance quite a bit. I would also like to know roughly how much it might cost to manufacture some of the custom parts and what might be needed to do this conversion.
