  1. Your 98 is going to be a DOHC engine. The 99's and after were SOHC. If you were going to replace engine make sure its from the same model year.
  2. This is me the day I got my RS: Most recent picture. I work as Assistant IT Manager for city government here. So we cover everything from police departments to the water departments. Every now and then we have to do some work on the patrol cars so I had to hold the guns so my boss could get in and reset the cameras. You should have seen the looks I got while standing on the side of the street holding these:
  3. I am almost positive that Subaru did not offer keyless on these things. This is all assuming you have an extra key. I thought I seen a product once that was in a compressed aerosol can that was specifically designed to thaw a lock, might want to check that out. Could call a locksmith if S.O.L.
  4. Connie, it was good to see you still on here. Hadn't seen you post in a while. I myself have been lurking a lot more since I sold the BRAT and bought the RS.

  6. You are correct. Just push up on it with your finger and it should smooth out. Yes, that is why I kept the spring on it. Every now and then the thing would open up when I pushed the gas pedal too much. Then I would just hop out of the car and push it back up.
  7. I had the same problem in mine when I first got it, my main reason for hating the weber. The secondary would get stuck open and cause it to rev like it was being held to the floor. What you need to check is that hinge where the two barrels join is in the up position. Of course, yours may differ, this was the problem that I had on mine. Here is a picture for reference.
  8. I don't know much about the EA82's but welcome to the best place on the net for older Subarus.
  9. Looks good man. I can't imagine how weird it is to you when we post pictures of our left hand drive EA81's.
  10. Welcome to the board, I have an RS coupe myself. I am going to be the first to warn you about the headgaskets on the EA82T, be forewarned.
  11. Wow. I rolled 99k over on my '00 RS coupe today and have been worrying about the upcoming maintenance that is due. Thats great to hear about these cars hitting that mark. Keep it on the road man.
  12. Just pull the steering pad up at the edges and there is a nut underneath it.
  13. Word of advice I can give you is to not put an Autozone axle in there. I stand by MWE axles, others by Subaru axles.
  14. MWE axles are awesome pieces of machinery. Tell Marshall that you are a member of this board and he not charge you a core fee.
  15. Pull the wire off the distributor cap that runs from the coil and hold it to a piece of metal and see if you have spark while someone turns it over. I had a similar situation in 2005 where my hatch would turn over but not fire. It turned out to be just a bad coil wire.
  16. How are your wheel bearings? CV axle will click but I have had them do some weird things. Are all your boots intact?
  17. Replace your alternator. Do it before you get stranded on the side of the road.
