Research for my 2.5 swap
Bob, I'm not picking on you. Not calling you out. It's just something that comes up on this board over and over. When someone asks about carbs... "I do not want to go FI. Period. Please dont try to change my mind, it wont happen." I grew up with them. I've probably rebuilt close to 100 of them. I can make them work. Often, on the cheap. F.I. guys run from them! lol A lot of those guys just don't understand them, or why "anyone" would want one. Enough. I'm just going to tune it out from this day foreward. Doug

White letter 13" tires
In 2003 I bought a set of 175/70 RWL Dayton Daytonas. Nice tires. I went back for another set. Discontinued. Can't say I've ran across any RWL 13 since. I've looked at a lot of 13" new tires lately. What I did find, was what looks like a good, "new to me" selection of Sumitomo tires recently. Doug

EA-82 Exhaust Manifold Gaskets
Hi, Good Morning all. Last two Y pipes I've done, I used Beck Arney. Slide them over the studs and they stay there. Nice. I don't have any on hand to take pics of because I used them:). Just a wide variety of materials and construction out there. Doug

EA-82 Exhaust Manifold Gaskets
The ones on the right are from NAPA from about a year ago. The bottom metal is more like OEM. The others are recent multi layer from Fel Pro. I have used both sizes on the manifold to head interface on a EA-82. Of course, I belt sand the flange on the pipe flat. They'll all work if you do that. Doug

I think head gasket but symptoms don't support theory
Quidam replied to akafriday's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHi, Without reading the replies, put a vacume gage on the motor. Report what it reads. Doug Edit. I would take a very close look at the radiator as well. Pull it out, strip it down, flush it out. I'd want that vacume number. Edit: If it has good vacume, it has good compression. If it has good compression, it has good vacume.

50,000 mile Loyale
Hi GD, It doesn't. Any Corvette, other than a modern C 5, I wouldn't give you much for it, if I had to drive it. To each their own. I don't bash a lifted Subaru, tho I will "never" build one. I'd buy a Jeep. I could go on and on. Bashing the old 82 doesn't deter me from enjoying them one bit. One of your fans, Sincerely, Doug

Cam/crank seals leaking after t-belt
Quidam replied to Mugs's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXHi Gary, I've used them. They add dollars. They're effective tho. When I hear, "and it still leaks oil", well, there you go. I suspect if someone gets cams done by Delta, they can take care of the groove on those while they're at it. Just some quick thoughts. Doug

EA-82 Oil Change, Brakes
Hey, The 0W-20 would have been a mistake. Here's what happened. I've put some miles on it. Keep in mind I had 10W-30, Mobile 1 in it on one 90 degree F. day. I put the 0W-30 Mobile 1 in it and the same 90 degree day: Get this, at 3000 r.p.m. on the highway: It carried 45 p.s.i. with the 10W-30. It carries 3/32" below 45 p.s.i. with the 0W30. Consistant with what I've observed in the Chevy. There's a clue there:). That's with the factory gague and it's nominally accurate, it seems. However. With the 0W-30. When the engine it going for 5500 r.p.m., the oil pressure stops climbing a tick above 45 p.s.i. . Good enough for a driver, which it is. I would not run it hard, for long that way. I want no less than 10 p.s.i. per 1000 r.p.m. in something I'm going to work hard or beat on. Or a racing engine. I might even want a little more than that. Doug

EA-82 Oil Change, Brakes
We do get that cold here, just never know when. I'm not sure GD but decided to give it a go, see what happens. It could be a cold wet winter here. I actually wanted to try 0w20. I like what I saw from this oil in a tight 364 c.i. Chevy. Doug
