  1. Mile High Nationals. Been there, done that. I have a piston, rings, pin. Top fuel dragster, from that venue. Champion plug too.
  2. Sir, you misunderestimate what I'm capible of. No problem. I had the highest SAT in my high school class. Just a fact. Nothing more. I've been a mechanic all my adult life. Professionally, private mostly. Doug
  3. Well, you don't get it. Respectivily, Doug
  4. I have a set of Mister Gasket...clips that will stop all the spraying oil. But you don't. One valve cover off, adjust all of them. Fire extinguisher handy. Repeat other side. That isn't the whole story. Doug
  5. Yes, but... that but is an eraser, to a salesman. I have good ea eighty two running out my ears. Good ones. I do recycle, I have low dollars in what I have. I have an acumulation of parts, I bought for pennies on the dollar. Beck Arney, Fel Pro, Beck Arney:) You know what I mean? Damn, man. Bloom where you're planted. Doug
  6. I have an 89 sedan. I recycle:). I'm putting together an EA 82 with used parts. EA 82T. Choice of five speed with diff lock, or five speed dual range. LSD. Front and rear sway bars. X T6 clutch. Fuel cell. Alcohol. etc etc It will run 14, or something. A sixty eight Cougar, 289 c.i., stock long block. four ten Zoom gears, M-50 15 Kelly Springfield, Superchargers, whew, top loader four speed, Edelbrock, headers, Holley, MSD ignition. Some other stuff. It ran fourteen six quarter mile at National trails. The sedan is light. Doug
  7. Wild guess. A rock wedged between the backing plate and the brake disc.
  8. That's normal movement on the idle screw, at this point in its life. Doug
  9. You are due for a complete carb rebuild and or replacement. If you haven't gained access to the idle mixture screw, start there.
  10. I figure this is a viable option with ten to twelve peeps around the perimeter.
  11. Yep. If the tranny is trashed, and all you're going to do with it is junk it, put it in neutral and tow it 4 down. Or, put the front wheels on a dolly, and remove the driveshaft is another option which won't hurt the tranny. Put it on a trailer, otherwise. hth Doug
  12. Oh, contrair. I have two EA-82 engines that do not leak. Not a drop...after miles and miles. See the book, "Zen And The Art Of Subaru".
  13. Chem-Dip Carburetor and parts cleaner.
  14. So much thread drift here. So, no comment. "Don't believe anything you hear, and about half of what you see" Otherwise, I'm speachless:).

  16. I have an 89 EA-82 DR 5 speed sedan. Single Point FI. It's been a while since I've driven it. 36 mpg is what it pulled down on the highway. That's without trying to get good mpg. Just a data point to consider and anecdotal, my two cents and all.
  17. Hi, Let me get this straight. You don't have the boost gage hooked up. You're running a 5 speed single range transmission. On 27 inch tires. I wouldldn't expect 5th gear to be of much use at times. Hook up the gage. I suspect an issue in the fuel system too. Just trying to understand. Doug
  18. I would not do this and if you do, the brakes on a trailer might save your rump roast at some point. Let me know your route plans so I can avoid the area. Rent a box truck, load all your stuff inside. Just a suggestion. Doug
  19. Yeti, a lot depends on your budget. How much do you want to spend? The polished lip can be done by hand with wet/dry sandpaper, and elbow grease. A lot of good suggestions here. I had a nasty looking set of American Racing OLD Torque Thrust wheels. They had lain outside under a tree for about 20 years. First I acid washed them. I then went over them with a sandblaster. I polished the lip with wet 80 grit sandpaper, to start. Other grits after that. Then the actual fine polishing by machine and buffer wheel. Man, that's a LOT of work, time/money thing. You should just give up and sell them to me cheap. Doug
  20. Miles really does know that it's 1-3-2-4. Doug
  21. What you described is the right way to do belts. Turning the distributor clockwise advanced the timing...Double check it all? Doug
  22. I bought, "less than 500 ppm low sulpher kerosine". K-1? Newfangled? $3.79.0 per gallon. Only supplier in this small University towne. What are you using and what does it cost? At least is doesn't stink for that money. Doug
