Impression of 2010 Foresters
somick replied to 1 Lucky Texan's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI have been driving 2010 since new. I have 79k on it now. No problems! It is not very good on city mileage - between 20 and 23. Highway is around 30 but with speeds no higher than 65. Sam

Wiper Motor
Check that round thing that is mounted next to the motor. Contacts inside might be dirty or warn out. Good luck, Sam

Yes. Make sure you have a good ground. Good luck, Sam

Ea82 radiator fan
I have put few drops of oil on the shaft. Did it two-three times and it started working again. I guess you know that this fan does not work all the times? It works when the engine gets too hot or when your AC is on. Good luck, Sam

Vacumn bleeding '15 legacy problems
somick replied to dkclaassen's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI have been using vacuum bleeder for years. Try gravity bleed: open the bleeder screw and let the brake fluid drip. Watch for air bubbles. When done close the bleeder screw and move to another wheel. Make sure you have the master cylinder full. Good luck, Sam

[Forester XT 2015] ECU Replacement
somick replied to rodrigoijk's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI would, like Garry suggested, check for ground. You need to have an electrical diagram. Try to ground the body of the ECU while testing or check the diagram for ground pin number. Good luck, Sam

2008 Impreza Hard Start Issue
somick replied to BKaise426's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMy 2010 Forester calls for spark plugs replacement every 30,000 miles. How about yours? Another reason for long crank might be the fuel filter required to be changed every 60,000 miles. I have not done mine yet but I have only 75K on it. Good luck, Sam

How can I check to see if my Starter is bad?
12 volts from the ignition key become 11 and then 10... That what happens with old cars. This is a common problem on this car generation. The solution is a new circuit for starter ignition line. Very simple and easy to do solution. We suppose to have a lot of threads about them on this forum. I installed one on my Loyale and never have problems with starting the car. Good luck, Sam

Starter motor prob - '13 Impreza
somick replied to abstoler's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWhat do you mean by "crank"? If it rotates but does not start that might be a fuel delivery problem. If it clicks or does not make any sound that might be either starter or ignition key problem. Good luck, Sam

EA81 Drum Brakes... Where do the Springs Go?
On my 1992 Loyale they go on top. Small spring is on top. But I may be mistaken. Good luck, Sam

Starter motor issue? intermittent no start
somick replied to milty60's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYour problem is roach auto. They lure us with low prices and make us buy junk. Try to return it (I doubt it will work though!) They will make you pay for return shipping. But if you are stuck you can always take the alternator apart and verify the integrity of brushes. I am pretty sure they are worn out. Good luck, Sam

Seat belt buckle specific to metal fitting? How to fix?
somick replied to bstone's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXBuckle them up and they will not slip under the seat. If your passenger looses it is his or her fault...

Warped rotors, why?
somick replied to jseabolt's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXDuring braking the temperature will rise and the moisture will boil and turn into steam. Steam's hydraulic characteristics are not what we need in the braking system. The pedal may go down to the floor. Changing the brake fluid is a cheap/inexpensive insurance. Good luck, Sam

intermittant spark
Yes, post it in the "Older Generation" As far as I know they have different distributors for different years. So make sure you are testing it with the correct one. There is a transistor mounted next to the coil. You may also need to get a known good one and test it. Good luck, Sam

ball joint boot
+1. When my boot broke I was not able to find a replacement and bought a cheap Chinese ball joint for five dollars. Needles to say that the boot broke again in six months. The quality ones will last you but they are not cheap. My dealer charges more than fifty box for them. Good luck, Sam

PVC hose assembly available for 1992 Loyale
I believe the hoses are 5/8. I have failed the smog test once because I used regular hoses and I had to buy ones from the dealer. Not cheap! Good luck, Sam

2010 Forester won't start 50% of time
somick replied to Breadloaf1's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXIf you get no sound it might be a wiring problem. Check it you are getting power to the alternator solenoid. Good luck, and stay away from that dealer! Sam
