  1. i hope this is a joke,... well i guess you could consider some of the stuff at pep girls "preformance."
  2. the best cheap way to raise your vehicle would be to install bigger rims/tires. A lift just raises your body off the suspension components so it wont give you ground clearance. Since your looking for a cheap lift i dont suggest any shock/"suspension" lifts because they decrease the life of your cvs.
  3. This coming from a 17 year old;....... Grow up!!! The people out here are telling you why its not a smart reason to turn them off for YOUR safty as well as OURS. why do you suppose that is??? well because most of us dont want us or our family members to be maimed or killed because some punk didnt want his lights on. If this ONLY affected you i wouldnt give a rats rump roast what you did, but if your going to be on the roads, you should be as safe as possible. Just because your free doesnt mean you need to be dumb. btw, this goes for anything, if someone asks to make a lift kit out of cheeze, they are going to be yelled at because its unsafe. ok. and why are you so dead set on turning your lights off??? whats the big deal? so dont ask for help, get safety precautions and then bitch at us. I dont see smokers yelling at the surgeon general! P.s when im driving i get super pissed at people with there fog lights on all the time. i mean they are always blinding, and usually not adjusted correctly anyway. i mean i live in AZ and i havnt seen fog in years, so what gives!? Tyler J.
  4. ok i was pondering and, now this is a big IF but instead of just removing the front axles, as a more permanent swap for RWD, how would a RX-7 transmission fit? the main reason i was thinking of this was because if the adaptor was made to fit a rotary to a EA tranny, would it be possible to use a EA/EJ engine and a RX-7 tranny? unfortunately i have no idea if everything would line up or not with the engine and tranny (clutch fork/splines and stuff like that), but it would be really cool. Now since the tranny doesnt have linkages to it, rather the gear knob is on the tranny itself, the transmission and engine could be slid back for better weight distribution. i believe the rx7 tranny is longer but there is enough room to slide it back since it doesnt need linkage stuff. (again i have no idea of the length of the tranny itself.) the rear diff could stay the same, but you would need to mod the crossmember engine/tranny, and the driveshaft, and im sure some other stuff. so, whatdaya think? thanks.
  5. You spelled "bigger" and "getting" incorrectly. ok do you need help getting one swamper, a wagon, or a lift. if a lift, heres the best i can do for you. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/search.php?searchid=27565 Tyler J.
  6. ok heres a question. will an ej22 from an automatic car, bolt up to the awd manual tranny from another ej22 powered car? thanks.
  7. isnt the "ultimate rx" this very same car with very same swap? i believe its a wrx engine. do a search for ultimate rx, you should come up with something.
  8. Heh heh, shck out my signature. hatch + ej22 = fun fun fun. of course i dont think ill "dog the hell out of it" but rally x the hell out of it, yes. unfortunately, that hatch seems taller than the coups and sedans which i dont like but, oh well.
  9. yea i would love to participate in that too. i just wish i gathered rusted out, free cars the way most of all you guys do. it would sure be fun. but of course only for terminally ill cars, apparently cars dont last that long on that track. or even better, just a lightly rough track, that way you can push hard without worrying about hurting your car. and you dont kill it 10 minutes into the drive. Tyler J
  10. yup bushbasher and edrach. thats been discussed a lot. but itll work great in 2wd. As well with a AWD/FT4wd. but still its a nice touch.
  11. haha that looks like sooo much fun. and that exhaust, not trashy at all. J/K keep up the good work.
  12. well i think ive seen an e-brake used like once on a "on cam" in a rally before. i think, he reached down and did a quick jab. and no it wasnt the shifter. it was a sharp turn at slow speed though. And drifters, they can do it on straights, not just on turns. they rev up, drop the clutch (or just floor it if they're gifted with the power) and use the rear wheel power to push. i believe. But anyway, its still fun to use while climbing hills seeing what you can do in 2wd. for me at least. and when going arround a slow/long turn at speed, a quick jab to get the wheels loose can help. after all its hard to drift with a 4/AWD car unless you have lots o' power. and again a rear e brake is fun when goofin arround. like when doing a 180 in a confined area. (wash, side of road, etc)
  13. Well i didnt mean oversteer with power, i meant with the e-brake. you know sliding your rump roast-end arround for fun? But yes using your power is fun too. But cmon i have like 63 horsepower. :-p
  14. unfortunately, using it to oversteer wont really be that much fun, in 4wd that is. unlike other cars, if you lock up our rear wheels you lock up all 4. thats why im kinda cursed unless i get AWD. oh well. great find!
  15. yea thats the one i truely confirmed it in, the other one, they found a homeless person or brought a homeless person home and you can tell by the dash. the BARX car looks cool.
  16. On the Tv station WB-58 down here in Tucson there is a 30 min. show called Grounded for life. and sometimes, youll catch an episode where he drives his '90s model, loyal wagon I believe. and its in great shape too, but automatic though. There is a good view in the episode " One Is The Loneliest Number" Im not sure where this show is broadcasted, or how popular it is but theres a soob in it so its good enough for me. You could prolly catch the car on the trailer found here. http://www.thewb.com/Shows/Episode/0,8201,||2031,00.html anyway just thought id tell yall. Tyler J. also this is a pretty cool pic i found of a Subaru DL. its a "BARX" car. found here http://www.getrealistic.com/barx/cars.htm at the bottom of the page. now that looks like a really fun thing to do to a junker car. see ya.
  17. nope, overinflation gets you wear right in the center. are your tires wearing on both sides or just the outside. if outside, both fronts? all tires? if just the outside, for some reason you got positive camber. as for the balding quickly problem, I suggest just shopping arround for a different brand. my moms tires on her Buick are dying pretty fast, (30,000 miles) and i think they are just cheapys. Just be sure you air them up to the pressure on your doorjamb, thats the pressure recomended for your weight. (the car) Hope that helps
  18. Holy ish i posted this a while back as well. i need to replace my bearings as well but i couldnt get them out. i got the lock nut, the big threaded seal holder out, and some other thing as well. but no bearing falling out.does this method work on a S/R 4WD ea71 tranny? Thanks,
  19. Miles i totally agree that the whole "search and you will find!" thing can be a little played out. Hell sometimes when i search i come up with multiple threads on a subject (yay happy:banana:) but find they are only full of search comments, and yes that can be very irritating, but isnt it common knowledge that if you go to any board, you WILL get flamed if you dont search first? And rightly so, in fact most other boards have a FAQ'S section that says in the title, "LOOK HERE BEFORE POSTING!" Which almost ALWAYS goes ignored. And then of course the comment from the Noob is always "well why did you waist you time posting to my useless question then?" Well simply for me, its because people learn best through repitition. right? So search, search, search. Then maybe, just maybe Noobs will stop posting "where can i get a cheap lift kit for my car" and find it themselves in one of the hundreds of other threads carrying that info." Besides wouldnt it be just as rude to just ignore them. If i recall that thread you posted is about the guy getting ignored himself. And on a side note, yes the archiving of some info could be delt with in a more efficient manner, but i believe the moderators and people providing this thread for us are volunteers, so, well im gratefull. so what have we learned? 1.) noobs, Please <--- (notice the politeness? ) search, replyee's, be nice and informative, or nothing at all. and mods, thanks for the board, even if it could use a tune up. cheers all. and we subiers are friends, so let the bickering end, amen. Tyler J.
  20. yup, im sure someone will fight this due to safety, but i agree, the manual just over dramatizes how pressurized the fuel line is. Just cover with a rag, and rip it off. of course be aware of any hot manifolds or heat shields, im sure an explosion would put a damper on your day. Tyler J.
  21. is it the exhaust plugged up like rallyruss said? that seems to be the only reasonable explenation as to why it would run fine then poop up when shut off. Any mechanical problem wouldnt solve itself after a cool down. still kinda wacky though. i second the exhaust pluggage. Id take off the exhaust and see i could unplug it. and yes it wouldve been helpfull if you had mentioned "......When this car is Dead Cold It will fire right up and Purrs Like a Kitten......If you shut it off though it is Done......This Cuts out all timing issues of it being off at the cam sprocket or timing belts...?"
  22. Yup, diff and axles gone. Well i know about this kit, so thats why im wondering whether it would be smarter to get a ej tranny and engine or an EJ22 and EA tranny. the EA trannys better for off road usually, but im looking for speed on dirt roads and such. Im pretty sure ill just get an EJ tranny, itll be slightly less hastle. Quote: Originally Posted by Zapar On a side note. Chances are that that wagon has a LSD in the rear. I'd check if I were you. If it spins the oposite way, forget it. So when testing it by spinning the wheel, if they spin the same direcction, its an lsd? good to know. Besides there is another good lookin wagon in the yard i wasnt able to check out so ill see what goodies its got in the near future. PS. i could probably grab the tranny if anyones interested, i dont know how much they want though. thanks again, Tyler J.
