  1. I think that the ea82 coilovers make the rear way too stiff. I found the ea81 Soobs to be most capable with the rear torsion bar dialed down to the bottom, as soft as possible. Makes for free (er) travel, meaning the tires are on the ground more. That would mean better traction, improving off road capability. Definitely get a welded diff. I swore they'd be no different/better while I drove around in my lsd'd rig. ALL the difference!!! You too will say that. You just have to learn to be softer on the pedal to preserve axles. What else? I've been thinking about replacing the radiators in the ea81s with one not so tall. It's gotta be out there, a radiator that will cool as well as the stock one, but not be as huge. If you could lift the radiator, you can improve approach angle, again, improving offroad capability.
  2. Here's my 96 OBS
  3. I replaced the seats in my 96 OBS with some from a 93 Legacy LSI. Leather and comfy as hell. Threw some seat covers over them to make them a little warmer in the winter.
  4. I'm preppin'! Getting that water under the carpet to dry up. Looking forward to it, ready to load up right now. lol

    Email or call him.
  6. Are you making this a GC only thing again or is it open to other imprezas or all Subarus or what?
  7. There's not much to tune on an 84. Loosen the disty, turn it one way or another till it runs better. You're in Seattle, I've got a timing light. 15 minutes. Not an excuse not to make it. There's plenty there you'll love doing in your stock rig.
  8. So far I've/we've got: scott noah me uncoolperson spankypete hatchy Turbone? seattlelegacy? carfreak? gunslinger Anybody else?
  9. Ed's got my #. What time Thursday? I can throw a rock and hit I-5 from my house.
  10. Are you heading to the penninsula via Tacoma and the Narrows Bridge, or will you take a ferry from Seattle or Edmonds? If you'll be in Seattle, maybe we can all meet up somewhere. (my house) If you're headed out via the Narrows Bridge, you'll miss almost all of us till you get back to the mainland near B-ham.
  11. I believe its one of the biggest in the State. I wish I had mass money to go down there with. They have all sorts of stuff for my Toyota. Although, the one at Monroe was mostly jeep stuff. I scored (5) 32 inch swampers on wheels for $450. Oh, and an ARB bumper and Smitty Built roll bar for $550.
  12. That last thread is at least a year old now isn't it? Time to post/repost those photos of your Lifted Subarus. But, here's the twist. No pavement allowed. And I don't mean parked next to the street. Feel free to post 2 photos of your car, cuz I know that it can be hard to decide your favorite. Action shots encouraged! Short breakdown of the car would be cool too. If you don't have a car to post a pic of, then please don't post. It gets hard to sort thru 12 pages of comments to find cars, so I'll delete conversation. Thanks for your cooperation. Here's my 96 Impreza OBS, 5mt. 96 Legacy Outback struts and springs added for lift. 27/8.50/14 Kumho Venture M/Ts. 20mm rear sway bar for when I'm pretending to be Colin MCrae on those forest roads. *perfect power* (extra poop to make it scoot better)
  13. I did notice you standing out as usual. Only wagon. . . Only guy to back in. . . Can't see the wheels very well.
  14. Wouldn't hurt to check their web-site or pm/email ShadyIrishman.

Has anyone thought of using the search function?
  16. I got a question. What is the purpose of the big upside down "U" in the middle? Think about ways to protect your radiator. Maybe factor in ways to add a skid plate. And remember, weight is cumbersome. You dont' have a very strong frame, so you don't need a really burly bumper. Higher up the bottom of the bumper sits, the better approach angle you'll get. Approach angle is everything in many situations. One of those rails oughta do it.
  17. I'm with you on that Craig. I was as pissed as anyone, as they woke myself, my wife, and infant at 1 or 2 in the a.m. Totally uncool. But also why you won't see the glove buddy jackass this year.
  18. Looks sweet Clay. Now you need a bigger spare. lol
  19. A lot rougher ride indeed. But moreover. This will restrict travel, which of course means less chance of wheels being on the ground, which of course means less traction. All my wheeling lifted Soobs has taught me that they wheel best with the torsion bar dialed down to it's lowest hight, with no clocking involved. I learned about the clocking when I had my first hatch, before I'd ever heard of lifting them, so I'm not new at it. I managed to climb right up upper 311 at Evans Creek with a hatch sitting on 26 inch tires and an lsd. Wait till we take you there, you'll say "DAMN!"
  20. The trophies last year cost upwards of 1000 bucks to have made. 1200 the year before. To tack on more to the registration fees would upset too many people. No really. Blame Subaru for making so many different kinds of cars. There is a "beer garden" at Hood River. Because of the rowdiness last year, anybody caught with a beer in their hand outside of it will be asked to leave. We'll make that clear. And if you say I'm being mean or unfair or unreasonable, know that before Ken and I were organizers, there was no alcohol allowed at WCSSs. The camping area at HR is pretty contained. Which also means I won't have to yell at people for acting the fool and speeding around thru the campground. (my wife and I almost got hit by one of those last year while pushing our infant in a stroller) The Subaru show is just that. But we added in a day or two extra to invite folks from farther away. It is a family oriented venue, not a big party.
  21. You should consider axle angles.
  22. He was just sleeping. The fun started after everybody left.
  23. Fine. Good luck. But I think wishing you elbow grease would be a better way to go about it. lol But seriously, more the merrier. The lifted Soobs are getting to be far and few between.
  24. That's a great place, everybody meets there. There tends to be one or two ther groups there every time we meet there.
