Let me rephrase: The donor engine(frankenmotor) is an ej25d(97 ob) block with ej22e heads. It was bolted to the 4eat trans in the 95 legacy. the 95 has its original torque converter. I cannot remember if the flexplate is original to the trans. the original ej22 lump is missing its flex plate. I can assume this is swapped to the frankenmotor. The 97 ob block may not have had a flex plate, i don't recall. This engine is going into a 98 forester that has an ej25d, 4eat. The original TC is with the trans. So i am wondering if i need to bother with swapping flex plates, or if the one mated to the 95 with a 2.2 originally as it is still on the donor engine, or if different between ej22 and ej25, would there be an advantage to swap the TC from the 2.2 to the 2.5 regarding stall speeds? I hope this clarifies. I would rather not remove the flex plate on the donor engine as the separator plate has already been serviced. I just want to drop it in the forester once it comes out of the legacy.

take some 100 grit and sand down the rotors, clean off the dust, and lubricate the pads where they slide on the metal clips in the bracket and where they meet the face of the piston. ARe the metal shims present? I wouldn't be so quick to discard these brakes, but run the down for a bit and plan on new pads and turn the rotors later. If all you got is squeaking, i think a clean and grease will do. Make this decision based on if you want to spend the money now, or later.

I am swapping a frankenmotor into a forester. The frakenmotor was from a 95 legacy with a 97 outback block, ej22e heads original to the 95. I am swapping this into a 98 forester ej25d. Should i be swapping flex plates around? I cannot remember if the frankenmotor is using its original flex plate or the one form the ej25. the car's original ej22 block(bad wrist) is missing the flex plate. I can drop this motor in right away if i don;t have to swap anything. Is there an advantage using one torque convertoer over the other (stall speeds)? both vehicles are 4eat automatic

I have the front airdam and sideskirts. I have a new front valence. I got a pair of taillights. I am across the ferry from you! I travel to coldwater, Mi on holidays. Perhaps a personal delivery around thanksgiving. Take my ea82 hoard.

Make sure the parking brake is released so you can turn the piston. Pay attention to the orientation of the axle nut and the associated washer, as they are installed in a specific order (spring washer). Putting in the spring washer backwards will cause the nut to lose torque.

Take a look aththe MAF element and clean that. Sea foam the idle air control valve. You can clean the contacts on the TPS. Clean the contacts ont eh engine temp sensor if you have trouble with hot or cold starts. -
The top mount starter is the issue. The 5 spd trans will bolt in, but not the top starter engine. A ea81 or later model ea71(86 hatch) has the side mount starter. I am trying to remember bellhousing swap. The bell comes off the engine, but i believe it swaps between ea81 and ea71 fat case. I am not familiar with teh earliest gen of ea71/ea81, someone will chime in Otherwise, if you swap in a 5spd, it will share the same 23 spline axle if it is from a n/a model. There may be clearance issie in the trans tunnel for the rear (BFH). Otherwise, ea82 hardware swaps into an ea81 body.

you will need a whole ea81 or ea71 fat case engine to go with a 5spd, a driveshaft, and clutch/flywheel.

You can swap it as a temporary means or a permanent meand. Just remove the driveshaft. If you keep it as a FWD, remove the rear axles and diff, maybe swap on the 2wd hubs. It will work as far as bolt-up goes. some o the wiring pinouts on the trans may be different, may have to swap the harness from the trans' bodiy

Bees' nests in ea82 mirrors and gas tank lids. I think bugs are attracted to the shape. It's like the beetles in australia going extinct because they keep mating with discarded beer bottles. -
I would like to think that, but one time i had gotten both an xt6 and a legacy ball joint for xt6 knuckles (there was only one '6 in stock) And the legacy one was slightly larger and i cracked the knuckle trying to force it in. There is probably some weird overlap or cross reference with something similar.

Remove the stereo. Then the ashtray part comes out. The bezel around the sterop just snaps in, and then there are 4 screws to remove the stereo. You can pull it out enough without undoing the harness, but you will have to unplug the antenna. The ashtray should be on with dash illumination. You can remove the ash 'tray' itself by pushing down on the metal part to pull it out all the way. Buy you will still want to pull the stereo to get to the bulb itself.

The outback is just an upper trim level to the legacy. The forester is an impreza frame with a taller roof. The legacy is actually a little wider inside. A forester compared to a legacy is a smaller car with bigger wheels. The forester does have it's own featres such as storage spots in the arm rest, and the fold down seats have several positions. Thsi sets it apart from impreza and legacy. You may opt for a legacy if you want overall more cubic space. But the forester has a little more head room than the legacy. It depends on how you load down the car, but i think a legacy has more room(comparing late 90's models)

U-haul is the world's largest retailer of hitches and accessories. Any part number they will have is the MFG's part number, and you can cross reference that with other vendors if there are better prices. U-haul does install hitches with lifetime warranty. I was the hitch guy at u-haul for a little while.

I think you got that backwards. It would have to be the one ej25 that has a single port. the 97 and later ej22 has the single port. My 95 has dual ports and is the original engine. the ej25d has dual ports. That 97 outback would have an ej25d. Also, i recently serviced an 03 legacy 2.5 (phase2) which also had the dual port. I think what you meant is the 97 with a 2.2 would have the single port.

It has an ea82 engine. Bonus for SPFI (single port fuel injection) so you don't have to deal with crappy carburetors. You may get an engine light for purge control or EGR solenoid, which is common, but does not affect performance or economy (only worry about it if your jurisdiction requires emissions test. DO make sure to keep the cooling system in order. Replace the radiator if it is corroded and the fins are falling out. The only thing that really breaks is the timing belt. This can be avoided with routine service(replace the belts at 60,000 miles, replace the water pump) Change out any little hoses that could leak (the one between the thermostat housing and the top of the block. Use only subaru oem thermostat. If the timing belt breaks, it is non-interference, so slap on a new one and go. Go for it. Keep the dual range. EJ it if the motor dies (which it won't but the carb might) -

There is a chance i can source an up-pipe if you ultimately need one. There is a spare ea82 engien iat desmond's shop if he is not using it for the XT. I should make another video regarding removal and install of the turbo with it if it i there to take. -
Presuming an ea82, the shorte bolts go in the middle, and the longer go on the perimeter. You will see the outside holes have a taller shoulder, for the longer bolts.
