  1. mfg date 04/83 EA81T AT The wire from the Trans to the body near the spare tire area is smoking evertime I try and start it, where would I start to look to find what would be causing this? I looked for bare wires that might be grounding stuff out but I'm at a loss.............
  2. I replaced my Trans in my 82 Brat, got stuck in 4th gear Jeff
  3. I think its time to do it again, this Saturday the 18th would be a good day for a run up to walker. I hope its getting a little muddy up there now, it will make it a bit harder. Meeting place The old GI Joes off Exit 227 go east about 250 feet past dennys and trun Right, We'll be in the parking lot.......... 9:00 AM PS Brian if you see this I'll have the car all set up for you or we can figure something out Jeff

  5. Trail blazing eah? We where thinking of setting up a Wheeling trip on the 18th or 19th at walker. I'll have to say maybe Scott, sure would be fun though!! Jeff
  6. 30's are about as big as you want to go, 235/75/15's or 30X9.50X15's they are for the most part about the same as for small 27's are the least you would want to run, I would say 30's are the least to go up there, you can make it with smaller ones but it picks your car up 1.5" over a 27 and that makes a difference.................... Jeff
  7. I'm pretty sure that the mud from the mud pit has some type of concrete dust in it, because that is the hardest dirt I have ever tried to break off my car... all time.................................... Jeff
  8. Well put Brian, I agree next year needs a little more old school to it though, not saying there wasnt enough but more is better!!! Jeff
  9. That sucks man, Sorry to see that happen to ya............ maybe you can get the back part fixed too, just say that happened in the whole deal too............ Jeff

What ever you do dont use the power wire , white wire with a red line I think, off of your Cuise control, I used it for my fan to run full time, and everytime you step on the Brake it cuts the power to what ever it is you have wired to it. I figured it out while stopped at a stop light, for a long time, my car started to get real hot! Jeff
  14. They are the 3 stage ones I got them on the highest one to stiffen them up...... I dont think the Loyal ones have that but dont quote me, might have to pick a set up at PAP............... Jeff
  15. I cut about 2 1/2" of fender out the the front and rear, but that neither here nor there............. Jeff
  16. I know what you are talkin about my Brat was real nice at first but over the years I had to fight rust and very little wheeling damage....... mine is the Maroon one And now...........................:-\ Jeff
  17. Check out the Offroad section, there is a lot of good info there. everything from 2" lifts to 8" + ........... Jeff
  18. I am going to be leaving Friday Afternoon, anyone want to run with me, I think Woody, rick and A couple others will be along with me too..... Jeff
  19. Some of Dan's (86glsub's) pics Jeff
  20. Also, I wouldn't go to much bigger than a 30" tire, you will kill the hell out of your clutch, I have 30's on mine and I still have to slip the clutch in places, unless you want to get real good at swapping out the clutch I would stay around a 30" tire thats more than enough, with the 4 speed its just hard on them, I've gone through 3 trans's in my 82 Brat, just figure on loosing 3rd gear real quick and then blowing up reverse so it doesnt ever work again. Of couse it depends on how hard you Wheel it too, I put my rigs about through the max............... Jeff
  21. It the Gen2s the Bells kinda like to blow up if you are wheeling them hard enough, GD has a good write up about how to build EA82 belled axles with the EA81 shafts, it pretty easy, but then you get to the next weak link, the Axle stubs in the rear end, they like to break if you are throttle happy, but they are also a pretty easy fix............ As you build your car you will get to know it, you'll figure things out pretty fast as they break, because it will......................... Jeff
  22. are you still looking for a D/R trans ???? PM me if you are............... Jeff
  23. you will use all your stock running gear with 4" blocks between your body and running gear, so your ride will feel pretty much stock......... search through some of the threads of 4" lifts and that will give you an Idea how its done............. Jeff
