different car this time tho, hehe.. the RX did somethin funny tonight on the way home.. the Temp gauge moved up to 3/4.. i thought that to be a little strange.. but i did notice when i stepped on the clutch and revved to to 5-6k the temp gauge would go down to half.. then a few minutes of normal driving and it was right back up at 3/4.. does this make sense? also the heater has barely even been warm.. feels more like ya got a cigarette lighter heating the car.. really.. but when the temp gauge went up, the heater got hotter.. at first i was thinkin the heater sucking like that might be a plugged heater core.. but now i'm not sure... anyone got any ideas? i'm going to swap the thermostat tomorrow for sure...

well i think we all know how to get 13-14psi and not hit the fuel cut now, haha, thats one way of findin out.. i think i'll do an intercooler before i run that much tho
-
we should change the title of the thread as well... this hole thread is mor informational to me than any little wrinky dink website on it.. now i know not to put it in backwards as well although my RX shouldn't hit a fuel cut since its an 85' .. "i don't need no stinking boost cut!"

i'm up for a saturday run at something.. not sure whwere to find anything tho.. i should have the tierodend on the hatch sat morning.. it would prolly be my last 4xing trip in the hatch before it goes to a new home.. i bet i could drag jules along this time cause he can't lay in his driveway and work on his wagon i need to check out the trails i heard about around madison... about 20 min from my house.. and i know where the road is to get to them, just gotta drive out and find'em.. maybe we could do that saturday? gets dark about 5:30 so if we started around noon, it'd give us plenty of time to have fun..

question about turbos
Meeky Moose replied to junkyardgabe's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hell my wagons turbo has 290k on it.. still works like new haha... depends on how it was taken care of IMO... i'm gunna keep mine for a spare because i know its still good... -
hehe, yesterday they closed schools because it was snowing, and the roads were wet.. wasn't even sticking to the pavement yet.. they also had the plows already out.. i thought to myself if this was colorado, they wouldn't know what to do.. gonna go fire up the hatch here in a few.. we got a good 5-6" in my front yard, hehe.. time to go play on my way to work...
-
well i had to go play, in the 2+ inches we got now... the RX does pretty good for havin highway tires.. in 4x it burns nice donuts in teh parkin lot, lol that LSD just spins her around.... really slick stuff out there now.. i'm thinkin if it keeps it up tonight we won't be workin tomorrow.. that'll give me more play time, haha..
-
hehe sorry... and your north of me too :cornfuzz: that doesn't maek sense, ahh well.. i figure i gotta at least pull out one jeep before i let the hatch go to a new home..:-\
-
works for me, PM comin your way.. if i get the 87 1/2 turbo xt on ebay i might have ya make me another lol... although the wife won't need 12psi of boost...
-
well we got a good solid 1" so far and its comin down hard... gonna drive the hatch to work tomorrow.. if we have work tomorrow.. we'll see how many jeeps i can pull outa the ditch
-
heh would ya mind makin me one of them contraptions and ship it to me? I don't have a tap and die set, so it'd cost me more than i'd wanna spend to do it... i've seen those on ebay for about $15 shipped, but would rather get one from someone on the board so i know who put it together.. versus, ed in the bayou in the usa somewhere know what i mean.. lol
-
ohh another thing, i do know by lookin at my hatch with a weber... the vacuum advance on the distributor hooks straight to the carb.. that will make it run funky if not hooked up cause the disty won't have the correct vacuum.. and yes plug all teh vacuum ports that aren't hooked to anything.. thats a given right
-
well, personalyl i'd say find a "u-pull-it" yard go out and get a fender, bumper and hood... they all bolt on very easily, nothing really hidden.. if the core support isn't bent too bad you can bolt the new stuff on and it'll hide the bent core support.. if it seems to drive fine, no big shaking or vibrations, i'd say the suspension is fine.. its just sheetmetal that needs replaced... if you were closer to me i'd fix it up in a jiffy.. doesn't look that bad really.. thats the kind of cars i look to buy.. then fix and drive'em another 100k lol... at a u-pull-it yard you could prolly get all the parts for under a couple hundred bucks...

not sure on a soob automatic, but on the big ford the vacuum line runs from the intake manifold to the vacuum modulator on the trans..

Spark box on EA82T? (HELP!)
Meeky Moose replied to soobme's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
check the temp. control sensor. and also the plug on the knock sensor.. the knock sensor if not working or unplugged will make it run like ****.. and the temp control sensor will make it hard to start and run like ****.. just been there done that on the 85' rx.. found that my knock sensor was broken, due to age and heat ... and my disty had mechanical problems.. so i swapped that with a good one for safe measure... -
A pile of broke stuff in only one week
Meeky Moose replied to subarubrat's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
doh, i gotta tear into the ole ford this weekend and do the heater core in it.. that puppy is original and started leakin when i flushed thesystem.. bah... -
wanna hear a wierd one... the disty in my 85' rx didn't have a screw to hold the rotor on. it was a grooves slip on kind.. the disty in my 86' wagon has the stupid screw.... go figure..
