  1. Check out the off road forum, thats where I got the idea from, but I went and grabbed another e brake handle from the scrap yard, grinded it down some and welded it to my stock one, widened the hole some (I might re do it, I dont like having the metal exposed) and linked the rear e brake cables. Each wheel has a single cable coming to pull the e brake, two two meet at the handle and are joined into one, I just removed the joining piece and now each handle independently pulls the brake cable.
  2. Do what I did and make your own traction control: Not that hard thanks to Subaru's goofy ebrake method. Actually made things easier. Echo'ing Nipper, it would be odd for Subaru to have traction control in '95. My Mark VIII didn't get traction control until '97, and Lincoln is ford's "top o the line" getting all those expensive near useless toys first.
  3. The pillars are definately a lot thinner on the newer ones. The ones on the fat gen are simply massive. Before that, they were too small for my taste. My thoughts.
  4. I've found that people like tht usually have the most to hide. How does that saying go? The one that barks the most has the most to keep. Or something. I forget.
  5. Nice tires too Needs some mud though.
  6. I've drug the bottom of my '00 somewhere in the fields or something, there is an exhaust leak and a rattle when parked. I think the rattle is coming from the exhaust manifold, and the leak is coming from where the manifold meets the first cat. No check engine light, its just progressively getting louder and more annoying, and after driving in some deep snow wednesday, its just too much. Looking for some really cheap ideas to fix it, I tried taking the loose heatshield off today and broke my trusty pocket knife. ! Things stronger than it looks like.
  7. I've been wanting a lift on my Outback for a while. Damn all the cool folks living on the wrong coast!
  8. Isn't there a top gear video where a modified Evo kept up with a lambourghini murcielago? Oh well, link dont work anyway. :-\
  9. Mine (the green fat gen above) ain't lifted, its stock except for the tires. And if you're going to put it on a truck frame, at least use a subaru engine.
  10. Oops, I said cruise control when I meant I turned it off and dropped cruising speed. Yeah, I agree. Espaically in hilly WV where the interstate is still crossing down into valleys and climbing mountains.
  11. Coming down the interstate 79 snow hit me and my girlfriend following me(she drives an RS) and the 4 distinct lanes quickly turned into just a white fluff. I slowed down the cruise control from 85 mph to 65 mph and didn't put much more thought into it. After a while we were the only things on the road, we came up on a dodge doing about 45, leading around a dozen cars. Passed it up. Once again the only things on the road, one of the guys in the group following the dodge started following us. He/she/it eventually decided 65 was too slow I guess? And passed us. Some sort of Chevy SUV Minivan thing. About 5 miles later we passed it, looked like it had swiped the guardrail. It was on the emergency lane with it's hazard lights on. Just after a big dent in the railing the same color as its paint. I actually would have stopped but someone else had already pulled them over. Don't go faster than your car can stop you.
  12. Treadlife isn't important, I have touring allseaons I run normally. 20K is about what I was expecting to get out of them. I guess I overestimated. These are in the for sell forum. I'm going to try for 29's The ones I'm running are within an inch of the stock tire.
  13. Another for the SSR's, I think they're really nice offroad. Have a set for my low ridin lesbaru.
  14. Thats awesome to hear! I was putting off ordering mine until yours came through!
  15. And when a FWD subaru gets stuck in a little patch of snow everyone laughs and says "That AWD is useless!"
  16. Yeah, thats the one I pulled out. It was hilarious seeing the little thing ram into my garage door after sliding up a few inches.
  17. My crankshaft split in two, blew a rod through the block, siezed two cylinders, and it still ran.
  18. Since when do subaru owners bash other subarus for being ugly?
  19. I just pulled a 99 kia sportage out that had gotten stuck in my driveway. Then for kicks parked in the same spot and backed in an out a few times no issue. I guess it was the tires.
  20. The Legacy GT's also had the same gear ratio as the Outback, with the much smaller tires they were peppy to say the least.
  21. Resurrection?! Why don't hybrids have a gas or even diesel engine and use electric to turn the wheels instead of the odd system they have? Diesel Engine Locomotives have been proven for decades, can we still not get a scaled down version?
  22. I can't find exact specifications for EA axles, but here is what's under the rear of my 2000 Outback, hope this gives some info on if they could be stronger once adapted.
  23. Damn, I've been looking into Hi Rise for a while, communication hasn't been the best either. OH well I guess I'll end up making my own.
