Tahoe run late July early August?
Anyone down to meet up in the Tahoe area for a run? Post dates that are good for you and we'll go from there. Maybe mack it a weekend camping/ wheeling trip. At the moment I have a stock 86 GL 4X4 Wagon and hopefully by then my Brat will be up and running too.

Any one have any pictures of lowered EA82's?
^^^ That looks pretty slick, was trying to figure out what model that was, then noticed your other post.

Crunch!
Eastwood has a complete kit for $500, if it's just the stud welder I'd pay no more than $125 used as a new one is $200 from Eastwood.

Crunch!
Great idea, down side being the holes (depending on welder) or pulling too hard. Look at Eastwood tools and see about getting a nail gun and going to town with it (was my best friend in Auto Body school minus the Bulls Eye Picks:headbang: ). The hardest part will DEFINITELY be the edge around the taillight housing itself and will require a hammer and dolly for best results. Good hint though when it comes to dent removal, Last in First out. Good luck

Lsd Fyi
 I can see that happening and don't recommend unless one doesn't mind the above consequences. Hence I'm going to go Lincoln for my rear and still haven't figured out the front yet as unsure whether I'm going 5spdD/r or OG 4spd D/r in me Brat, my Wagon will DEFINITELY be getting a5spd with some sort of front LSD if I can find it AND a Lincoln rear:headbang: :headbang:

Subaru right for me?
This is a pic of Zap's old Impreza Outback Sport lifted via Legacy Outback struts and springs. You can always get SJR's EA to EJ tranny adapter and use it to do an EJ to EA D/r out of an 86 to 88, but you will also have to swap the rear diff and figure out a tranny crossmember for the D/r if you want a low range.

post your fav subi pic!!!
Couldn't pick just one soo... Gotta say the Green Hatch would be the top though.

LOVE that pic but is it really a Subaru (didn't think they made anything like that).

Hill holder conversion?
Kind of interesting that they mention it CANNOT be retrofitted to older models. Kinda sucks cause I would love to have a hill holder on my 98 Outback, but being hydrolic next to impossible .

factory Remote Code Alarm
newsoobdude replied to Gene J's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXOK, and since I reset the Code Alarm and my drivers side door STILL does not unlock by itself (have to hold down to unlock ALL doors), anyone have any ideas?

will my virginia subaru pass cali emmisions???
scrapdaddytatum, as long as the car will pass Federal Smog Regulations, the car WILL be good to go on passing. One nice thing about Cali and the Smog Nazi's here are as long as it's a used None Cali car (one with more than 7500 miles if I remember right), that did not get the mileage coming into State (ie bought new car in NY and drove it to Cali with stops on the way) all you have to pass is Federal Smog (hence the Cali Smog sticker on Cali cars). Soo, as long as there is no Cali Smog Sticker you only have to pass Federal.

Extra cab brat anyone?
Yea, an OG Baja. Bed could a little longer but.... I do like your Brat X- cab and would love to have a full side profile shot to add to my collection.

Extra cab brat anyone?
Not 100% what you asked and I did NOT do the work, someone else here on the board did. I like your idea better but fear it would be too long and narrow.

Restoration project question
Granted I don't count but I have a 85 Brat that I'm resto modding with simple bolt on upgrades (lift, H/P EA81, rear discs, and Pugs), but I figured since Brats are becoming rarer as the years go by, I'd still personalize mine but keep it easy to return to stock if wanted. I was originally going to go EJ powered and put in Bratus1's 5spd D/r kit, but figured since mine won't see much hiway action I'll keep the 4spd for now. Yeah I'm going to cut a set of fenders and doors down, but not the originals.

I'm in the foothills East of Stockton and would love to do some wheelin' with ya'll. I hear LaGrange is a good place to go wheelin', but generally just head up 88 and go to PiPi or the fire roads behind El Dorado Hills. Any ways, not my wagon though. Bosco, Pismo is a ways for us up hear, maybe something closer to Harris Ranch (Colinga) would work as that's the old half way mark between you and me.

Which Lift Would be best for me?
Ok, I'll put in my brief 2 cents worth that I've learned over the years offroading and from reading in the forums. Granted I still haven't wheeled anything but a stock Subie and other stock 4X4s, but you can always hi center yourself doing light offroading. My Brat is in the process of being recessitated with a 4 inch lift going in due summer time and I'll be using it for fire road and light wheeling/ bike hauling. I'm going 4 inch because I never know what I might want to do and figure 4 inch is better than stock as well as the 2 incher and like to have fun. I've been on some fire roads that a stock Subie and even 2 inch lifted might have clearance problems with and don't want to have issues with that in the future. You say you want to lift it, might as well go all out instead of down the line wishing you'd gone bigger. Some people on the Forum have stated that with their 3 inch lift they still had approach angle issues and what not and wished they'd done the full 4 inch instead. My 86 GL Wagon is stock stock (still) and I'm planning a 3.5 inch lift for it (stock 96 - 99 Outback steering coupler bolts right in and is perfect fit with that size lift) due to ease of the steering coupler and fact that it will be a camping rig like yours. My 84 GL Wagon is going to get a 4 inch or larger lift for serious "fun". All in all, bigger equals less likely to hi center and get stuck.

Subaru Competition
My real DD (see note) 98 Legacy Outback Horrible battery drain (cannot let sit for more than a day) Throw out bearing going out (have replacement ready to go in) Oil leak on passenger side of engine onto cat making cabin smell like burnt oil (yum) Brakes beginning to squeak (04 WRX's waiting for rotors so can be installed) Minor dents and dings and paint scratches Cracked drivers side fog light Cracked drivers side backup light OEM bug deflector rubbed paint off fenders Cracked drivers side inner plastic trim (darn floor jacks) Carpet on drivers side fuzzy Drivers side storage cover broken Bought it and less than one month later had the HG's go  Otherwise a great ride

86 GL 4X4 Rust Wagon (weekend beater/ dirty driver/ bad weather driver) RUST!!!! Underside looks like beginning stages of swiss cheese with dime size holes Carb choke is funky and engine sputters around 4k under load (changed choke spring and fuel filter, still the same and don't care really) 225 - 250 miles a tank:mad: Dent and or rust in every panel but roof Occasional vibration above 55mph Radio MIA Window switches work on individual doors but not master switches Lotsa oil in the rear from EA81 tear down and transport Dome light no workie with doors Drivers headlight condensation Rear defrogger no workie to good (2 bars at most) No horn or Hazzards No Hill Holder Rear bumper twisted Sloppy shifter 4WD light stays on Thats all I can think of at the moment but it's not that bad for a $350 parts car that I can beat the snot out of and not care Did I mention I have a rust free shell of the same car (the one on the right)
