  1. cannott remember where or who but someone was asking about a hood scoop for the EA82 series and someone found one on e bay that looked pretty good on the EA82s. I'd keep the scoop, just make it larger and maybe some NASA ducts like the 71 Mach1 Mustangs for venting. Glad to hear everything is going well with the RX and sorry I haven't called ya back work has been busy and hours changed and all the good stuff but I'll hit ya up sometime.
  2. All that means is you can park it anywhere and not have to worry about door dings nor wheeling in tight spots
  3. ^^^WTF?!?!?!?!? Explain the BRAT PLEASE! That looks SIC:eek: :slobber: !!!
  4. X2. Nice video you got, I wouldn't dare take my Outback on somethin like that, but then again mine is for road use only.
  5. Lived out there for a while and enjoyed the end of 9th street in my friends Jeep and Vida Voo (sp?) in my room mates lowered (less than cig pack between lowest spot and ground) Squareback. Wish I was their too a degree but wish you luck. Might look into the WyoTech fools (no offense ANYONE) to see if anyone would like to be surprised by a lowly Subie and what it could accomplish. Good luck and enjoy good ol' Lamamie and just an FYI; if they look 18+ they ain't, if they don't they are:) )
  6. I don't recall who but Google is a good friend for it but someone make a "body" lift out of a standard cherry picker to pick off the frame (granted not needed on a Subie but will work for trailer loading). Price is decent so that is one option. Another is a DIY dolly out of wood that is X x Y dimensions to fit on any trailer.
  7. I can hit up my friend who has more parts and stuff for EAs than we know what to do with and see what he wants for a tranny if ya want. Zip is 95665, about 45 miles from Rancho Cordova. PM me if you'd be interested.
  8. Unfortunately ANOTHER problem with that (besides the ref ripping apart and possible fines) is the fact that one now has to have 3/4 or more of a tank of gas for a gas tank test as well as part of the SMOG ordeal. daeron- You'd be surprised at what people think and do regarding CA and old cars. I live in a SMALL (33k) county and there is a law stating one is not allowed to have ANY non running cars (with or without glass) on their OWN property, whether in site from the road or behind a 10' fence. A LOT of people don't like the old cars because "they don't look nice, are gross polluters and are unsafe". Most of the old car communities have the $$$ to have an old car as a toy, not a daily driver and therefore we are able to still keep our old cars as they are NOT being driven daily. Those that do drive the old cars that are driven daily don't have the $$$ to do much and are largely ignored by the CA Government who wants ALL old cars 25 years or older OFF the roads. I don't know about you but a LOT of my friends own older cars that are cleaner than the new beasts put out from the factory and better in the mpg too. SEMA is our friend and without them, few old cars would exist in CA and those that did would have to pass smog as well (YES even the old Model T Ford:eek: ). I know that one has been brought up plenty of times over the years and THANKFULLY it's 1976? and newer ONLY that get tested but unfortunately it's not the rolling 25 years like it was for a small time and no longer 1974 and newer.
  9. Bed liner if your planning on hauling things and even if your not to protect from the rust bug.
  10. My friend is storing my 84 Wagon that I picked up from Cyberbackpacker and has been using it around his property occasionally to do things. As he tells me his son brought up his 72 Nova on a car trailer behind his older Mazda p/u but could not get up the private road to the house. The road is steep but not too bad. So, my friend grabs Ol Blue and drives down to meet him and see what can be done. Mind you Ol Blue likes to run hot. My friend hooks up the Mazda WITH trailer to the back of Ol Blue and starts to pull them up the hill. Ol Blue's radiator didn't like it too much and split apart . So my friend walks up to his place and grabs a spare radiator he had and proceeds to replace it. Plugged everything back up and Ol Blue pulled the Mazda and trailer with Nova up the rest of the way with no problems . Wish I had been there to see it and witness the power of Ol Blue's 275k mile EA81 pulling both vehicles up the road.
  11. That is my plan. I'm going to use the factory indentation and use the drivers side on the passengers and vice versa.
  12. Here's my version of a cut down/ half door that I started for my Brat. Just finished cutting and since I couldn't find my ear plugs my ears are still ringing:rolleyes: Still have to cap it off but will have pics up eventually to show case me new summer doors.
  13. Forgive my Noobness to the pre Gen1 era but is that a 360 minus roof I think I thought I saw?
  14. Funny you mention that as Sko's Brat is registered as a truck YOM 1982. My 86 is truck and as edrach said, to get a vehicle registered as a truck you need to get is weighed, but in CA you ALSO need it as a work vehicle; my friends 91 4Runner was pulled over repeatedly for being too tall (38" Swampers) and being over the legal height of passenger vehicles. Went and got it registered for his business and all was good. Also in CA, if a truck has a sink?, or promises NEVER to remove the camper shell again after install, they can go ahead and get regular Passenger plates. I've noticed that the Baja's, SportTrac's and what ever it is that's Honda's version ALL have Truck plates due to the open bed, even the Avalanches.
  15. Any ideas on where to look? I live in the sticks and the JYs don't have the engines by the time the car gets there.
  16. And yet it's interesting that you can license a gas Golf Cart here in CA for "residential" streets (max speed limit 30mph) and yet more than likely not the mini trucks:-\ .
  17. I bought my 98 Outback used from a Subaru Dealership here in NorCal and after having it about 2 weeks I was driving home one time and could not shift from 3rd to 4th (I could to 5th though but engine didn't like the hill). Took the car back to the dealer and told the service dept. about it and told them to "wring her out" (as I was doing) and see what they said. My clutch was acting funny to and when I bought it the shop was trying to figure out a "clutch issue". Well, I got my car back the next day (I did drop it for the night) and they said it was normal, everything was fine:confused: . Then, a couple months later on another site I'm reading about some people with my car having the same problem and everything and guess what? There was a dealer notice about it that had been out for a LONG WHILE and it's the Clutch Slave and/ or Master being faulty:mad: . What did the dealership say you ask? "Bring it in and we can fix it but we'll charge you for it". WHAT!?!?! I've had the car for less than 6 months and had to replace the HGs after 3 weeks of ownership and now they want me to pay MORE money to fix something that was wrong before I bought the car? FORGETIT!!! NEVER going to a dealership again. The shop that fixed my HGs, my engine STILL leaks oil from the rear somewhere even though they replaced all the seals and everything but they will charge me to pull the engine and see where it's leaking from and whether it's something they did or didn't do. FORGETIT!!! My friend and I are going to replace my clutch (and slave) and see if we can find the leak and fix it ourselves. Went to get my 86 smogged from a repair shop and it wouldn't pass the visual because I had removed the AC lines from it. WTF!?!? It also wasn't running right but they would not fix it as it's a carbed car not fuel injected and they don't work on old cars anyways, especially Subarus:mad: . Eventually took it to another smog place and it wouldn't pass because the timing was off and no they did not have time to deal with it:confused: . Took it in the next day and reminded him the timing was off so he adjusted it and guess what? Wouldn't pass cause the timing was off!!!!! His response "Oh, I guess the timing wasn't off."  Guess what? He charged me AGAIN to have the car smogged AND $30 to adjust the timing:mad:  . I bit my tongue, paid him and have told EVERYONE I know to NEVER go to Jacks Chevron on Sutter Hill (was too furious to say anything cause I had lost my patience with him and would have wound up arrested or something. I will NEVER take my car to anyone but my friends for ANYTHING EVER again.
  18. SIC!!!! Was that the one that was on Craigslist for ever? Got any more pics, particularly the lift and undersides? What are the specs on it? And, where abouts in Sac are you?
  19. How about some fender flares that bolt on for everyone who has wider rims.
  20. Dang it!!!!!! I'm saving up for other priorities at the moment but was hoping to get a 4inch EA81 but the monkey (as always) threw a wrench at me:mad: . HOPEFULLY next year
  21. TomRhere, thats what I was thinking as well. The Beast I Drive, what all did it take besides the blocks to put under your Gen 1?
  22. Anyone see the new Honda Pilot commercial with the BRAT shell in the back ground in the alley? The shell looked straight just missing the rims and tires from what I could see. At first I thought it might be an El Camino or something but when they drove by it again, sure enough a BRAT.
  23. 98 Outback 60mph around 2700rpms in 5th. Cannot wait til I can drop a 6 spd in and have an overdrive for the freeway cause 4k rpms at 80mph SUX.
