Thanks! I live on a nasty road that eats tires so I guess I won't be getting those ones, but what size are you running? I'm running 205/75s if I remember right but want to know what bigger size people are running with lifts.

Daredevil1166, what size tire and what brand? Also, any more pics?

My Loyale on the snow...

Nice wheelin and good pics! Looks like alot of fun and reminds me of a solo trip I could have done. Any more pics of that Ford pickup that got stuck? -
Here are more pics for ya. stock (mine) Forester struts (not mine) Scorpion Springs (again not mine:() AA Lift Unfortunately photobucket will not let me upload any more pics as I have one of a 6 inch lifted Outback as well. I'm looking at going with King Springs lift with a 3 inch body as well at some point in the future.

If ya had an extra $500...

I'd make sure the ride was safe and reliable (brakes, suspension and steering), then lift and 27s so you can go have some fun. EJ swap is nice but not necessary for having a fun Subaru 4WD. -
Uberoo, how about a side hinged/ swing gate? Are you going to put a rear window and wall against the back of the cab or keep it open? Really considering this for my EA82 as my 81 is too clean. Definitely needs a bar in the rear to tie the strength back in I would think (but would look really cool regardless).

You read my mind! Looks good. Are you going to put in a tail gate or weld the hatch shut?

Ran across a tan Gen 1 BRAT off of Haskel the other day. Left them a note to join here. Looked pretty good whose ever it was.

+2 on the matching diff. If I remember correctly my 98 with 5mt is a 4.11:1. What are going to be using the car for as you might just consider going with the 88/89 D/r 5spd and a 3.9 diff if you are going to be going wheeling a lot and want a low range. I cannot wait til I can afford the Down Under D/r instead of going the 89 D/r swap as I am already a manual trans and don't want to change out my rear diff and hydraulic clutch as well.

I had an ACT Streetlite (or however it's spelled) in my 98 Outback with 5mt and had it in for 30,000 miles. Made it fun but not trying to leave while stopped on a hill (which is my terrain now) or trying to crawl up steep slopes so I'm going back to my stocker. Not looking forward to the performance loss but looking forward to not stalling as much or burning my clutch so, yay. Not to mention the fact that my older friend who would borrow the car sometimes won't be roasting my clutch or complaining about not being able to leave from a stop at below 1500rpms .

I wont forget about ya'll with the Pushbar don't worry, and as a side note, I have 2 now as the Brushguard I was getting turned out to be another Pushbar :mad. And as I will be lifting this one I'll be selling both more than likely at the end of summer. I'll post it here in the classified section with a note in here.

I wonder how hard it would be to find some (more than one) and get the mount shipped over:confused: As for the D/r, I'd find one of the EJ AWD D/r trannies and go from there unless the solid axle goes through (I likie!!! I likie!!!) I'm eventually going to put a lift and EJ D/r into my 98 Legacy Outback.

Best bang for buck Subaru...

Living on a dirt road with wash board and pot holes bigger than basketballs, it depends on you. My 98 Outback is wonderful in the wetness and all, but I wish it had a Low Range for it. My 86 is slower but even more fun (for me atleast) because it's a rusty POS that I can beat. I have yet to get it stuck and the Low is rather nice for steep inclines and declines and has gotten me farther than my Single Range. If the Outback had a Dual Range I'd be set. -
That I am debating on. I have a "spare" D/r 5spd that I'm unsure as to what I will use it for. Only reason I'd keep the 4spd would be the fact that I want it more or less OEM pre '85, but the 5spd is growing more and more. Brian, I still have that a bar off my Gen 2 and I am willing to sell if you are still interested. Still need to finish that one up .

I know it's too late for the GB but got any pics of one mounted up? Needing to lift my 98 OB soon so I can play in my new neck of the woods.

Been on the board for a while but don't get to visit as often anymore but wanted to show pics of my newest treasure I found. Unsure of the year as of now as I have not gotten it open yet nor have I gotten any info from the old owner. Will be bringing it home soon and will update then. Anyone interested in the topper? Not planning on keeping it and is located zip 95245/6/9 (I live at the corner of 3 towns ). Plans include EA81 with Torquer Cam + SPFI, 4spd D/r, 4 inch lift, OEM Brush guard and High roll bar. Now for pics- This will make 7 Subies and 2 BRATs

Sux about your ride. Pics can be done through photobucket or other pic hosting site. As for the rear, I've been told other than custom at the moment, the Outback rear suspension assembly (blocks) and/ or King springs is your only bet.
