  1. I hear the AWD. Took my 98 Outback out to a spot I used to go to in LA on my vacation there and had a "fun" time. Nice little dirt road that was nice and snotty from the rains and decides to drive it anyways thinking all would be good, done it a 100 times before (famous last words) with no problems. Well going in was fine but when it was time to go down my rear came up next to me and tried going into the ditch that was about a foot and a half deep. Stopped the car and turned out of it but the road being cantered to the ditch went right back in as I tried going forwards again. Tried 5 or 6 times to NOT get my tail in the ditch with no luck so ended up going down the single lane dirt road sideways. Got to a spot where I could straighten out and check my rear from the nice bounce into the ditch but when I took my foot off the brake pedal the car started sliding down the hill (it was in neutral but the e-brake was set, just the ground was so snotty it just slid with the rear tires locked) at a ruffly 5% grade. If it wasn't for my AWD I would have had to call the tow company to come rescue me.
  2. Check for torque bind by doing real tight figure 8s at low speeds. Also, while they are replacing the HGs, might have them do the rear main seal and the water pump.
  3. RallyKeith- Unfortunately the guy who did the work and owns the shop doesn't speak english too well and I was in a hurry to get my car back as the shop was closing down for the night when I pulled up to pick it up. And another unfortunate thing is they are 400 miles away as I did it while visiting my family for the x-mas season. Sux that it took 2 shops to figure it out and the loss of my alarm from the previous shop:mad:.
  4. Alright. Took my ride to ANOTHER shop and they found shorts and loose grounds all over:mad:. Had a short under the dash, in the engine compartment and loose grounds in the engine bay as well. Got it all fixed up but need to replace my battery now as it's been drained too many times (don't waste $$$ on Optima's they are sh*t. Go for Napa Dry cells :headbang:) but she runs great and my lights no longer dim when I hit the brakes:banana:. Now I can FINALLY hook up my subs in the back:banana:!!!!
  5. GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make kits available for all the good Gens!!!!!! That way I can give you my $$$$. BTW, noticed no 6inch EA81 available anymore?!?!?
  6. congrats dude!!! Was fun hittin up dirt Muhuland the other day with ya. Hope your X-Mas went good and take care.
  7. I second that but at least it's a stick. My friend has a coupe needing rescue but it's an autocrapic.
  8. Works for me. I'll leaving town til the 6th of Jan though but after that let's go play in the snow
  9. Got some snow finally here in the Gold Country so had to go out the last 2 days and have some fun. Went to the local OHV park and ran into some guys who couldn't get their truck out the way they came in so had to take them out the back way which was fun, then stopped by my friends place who is storing my BRAT and Wagons for me and snapped some pics. Post some snow pics if ya got any. This is me following the group out of the OHV park-
  10. That is one nice setup you got there:slobber:!!! Any close ups on the pivot points for the levers?
  11. Yeah, the cars are off the ground and you can just go to town taking what you need.
  12. I have cruise on me BRAT (unsure if it works at the moment) but am going to be removing it due to not wanting it.
  13. Hate to burst your bubble but I thought King Springs was no more? Might want to check that out before going too far. Sorry.
  14. Only pic I have. PM s'ko as he still has his BRAT with the mod. I'll be doing it to my BRAT and 84 sometime soon.
  15. My dog and I and her Subie, yes hers. Will not let her ride in my Outback due to leather and tint and she is a bit wild in the back. Don't tell her but I'm selling it and letting her have my BRAT:grin:.
  16. I have a re-manned alt. and would rather use my Warranty to get it replaced, but Kragen will not replace saying 13.8 under load is good but NAPA saying bad. NAPA says 14 is pushing good under load and use an analog meter whereas Kragen uses digital. Watching the needle on NAPA's it took 30 seconds PLUS to get to 13.5 but would not go higher even off load. Have tried the fuse test and all was good. Tried the battery disconnect and all was good. Guess I'll have to wait til next year and replace my Alternator again, this time with a NEW one .
  17. I've had a problem with my Outback from the day I bought it 2 years ago. If it sits for a day I have to jump it. Replaced 3 batteries and one alternator, took it to 3 different mechanics with the same result ("nothing is wrong", "cannot find a problem") and took it NAPA today and was told my alternator was bad (it IS a rebuild from Kragen) and wouldn't hold above 13.5 with load. Took it to Kragen after and they say it is good, 13.8 under load. Was told anything under 14 is bad but Kragen will not cover new(er) Alternator or refund even though life time warranty. Pulled fuses and all the other stuff and nothing. Any ideas other than spending $$$ on a NEW alternator.
  18. Sorry, it's a 1985 and pics will have to wait until next week or so for me to return.
  19. So I finally got my BRAT up and running :banana: after sitting for at LEAST 4 years but need to figure out where some of the vacuum lines go. Unfortunately it's been a long day and I forgot my camera so no pics and I'm kind of burnt at the moment but if I recall correctly the line from the passenger side up by the firewall connected to some round things against the wall is what I'm curious about and basically all the other lines from the passenger side. Any help would be appreciated.
  20. LIFT IT and trow in a D/r and have some fun:headbang::headbang:
  21. Was it just me or did the first pic of it being hooked on the stinger look like a Repo Truck?
  22. Pm S'Ko about his BRAT. He has an EJ18 in it with an original D/r 4spd and it is MUCH better than EA81 power.
  23. Here's mine: Stock as a rock minus the "litening holes" from mother nature . Plans are to swap the engine into another 86 I have adding a 4 inch lift in the process and put the d/r into my 84 Wagon.
