The Scooby replied to soobiescoobie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i dont know about a mitsu car, but i know for sure the older body style preludes made by honda has all wheel steering. -
ahh ok, then yes i will trade you. when can we meet up to trade, i will be at work, Aaron's tomarrow from 2pm to 5pm, then ill be driving my car home, or if i get the other turbo 86GL i will be at Silers lisencing then home. Later, Shean PS, call me on my cell tomarrow after 10:45am and we can work out a meeting, (206)-799-5926

then looks like im sticking with my BOV, i want to be able to make it back fire a fireball out the exhuast.
-
by change do you have a spare boost gauge? if you do ill trade you those for my BOV. im kinda leanin on keeping my BOV since i love the sound it makes, but i guess since all my other cars werent sleepers this one will be since no one would expect to be stamped by a old school subie. Later, Shean

well what i figured i would do is take out the motor, and completely rebuild it from the ground up, clean every part, mic everything, new bearings and seals and such, then rebuild the turbo or put that WRX turbo and piping on. or have 2.5inch downpipe and full exhaust made for my car. anyways i will be driving it for a few days like it is, then start the rebuild on ether this motor or get another turbo MPFI longblock and rebuild that one while i drive the car around.
-
ok ya i think its a HKS sequantial one, its like a $260 part i got for free. then does anyone in the seattle area weld aluminum good enough to weld the BOV onto my intake? or does anyone want to trade me for another BOV that is smaller? Later, Shean
-
well i got a HKS, i think, blow off valve today for free as well as alot of tubing and such. my question is can i mount the BOV before the turbo, or does it have to be after the turbo and before the throttle body, and if thats the case who in the seattle ares knows how to weld aluminum good.

putting EJ22 into the 86 wagon
The Scooby replied to The Scooby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
well i decided against it when i get get a 86 rally packaged GL for under $500 that is turbo, then toss on my RX groundFX, the WRX turbo and intercooler from work, and i would be done after exhaust and lowering. anyways, Later, Shean -
im going to get the vin on monday when i buy the car, i will post the vin once i get home from work with the car. i am dam bound and determined to get this car.
-
yep it is a fully loaded GL, i just checked the general info page on here, 111hp 134tq, and man does that turbo pull hard. this was the first turbo car i have ever driver, i was like, ok this is better then my car then the turbo spooled and i had to shift, all i could think was WHOLY CRAP THIS IS MUCH BETTER!!! but ya it does have a LSD also. so looks as if im needing some new heads since this blows white smoke, and the WRX turbo/intercooler that we have at work also along with 2.5inch exhaust from the turbo back with no cats. i just cant wait till monday to go and give him the cash to buy it. by the way, anyone got any good EA-82T heads, Gen 1 that they want to part with?? Later, Shean

Thanks, Shean

putting EJ22 into the 86 wagon
The Scooby replied to The Scooby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
no, i am ether thinking of going with a 12mm thick aluminum adapter and run the full EA82 clutch and flywheel settup i have now and just elongate teh wholes, same with the fron crossmember. or i might jest get the 5sp EJ22 tranny and 4.44 rear diff and basically swap the complete drive train. im going to have a 2 core aluminum radiator for the 2.5rs rally cars, there are companies that make them, then get 2 12inch electric cooling fans tha will push over 1,000cfm from summitracing.com everything else will be a peice of cake, just i have about a month and a half to get this done. before i do move to arizona. -
putting EJ22 into the 86 wagon
The Scooby replied to The Scooby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the only difference is the gas, from R12, to R134A, the only difference between those 2 is R134A has oil in it to lubercate the internals. -
ok for $425 im getting a running EJ22 w/ wiring harness, fuel pump, computer, power steering pump, alt, and a/c compressor and then i have to make an adapter to hook it to my EA82 D/R 5sp, but here is my question, how do i hook up the A/C lines from my stock 86 car to the new 1996 compressor, will i have to get custom lines made? if i do ill cut my stock ones and the EJ22's and then weld them together. Thanks, Shean

ok ive got really dim headlights and i was wondering what the wiring settup is that the 3 wires are and where they go from the light. i am going to wire them to relays so it takes care of my dim headlights. Thanks, Shean

built ea81 vs. 2.2 conversion
The Scooby replied to archemitis's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hey archemitis, you mind making me a pig tail or a writeup on exactally waht wires go where, i want to put a 2.2 or 2.5 in my 86 carbed wagon along with the 5sp AWD tranny, these EA82's dont have the nuts i need. Thanks, Shean -
that 300ZX is my friend,Yarith's then thats my waon with the pugs, then my friend davids 93 for escort, then josh's truck which he just took out a tree with like 2 days ago, truck is being rebuilt as we type.and i think ill just go with the 16inch WRX rims we got at work, thats flashy enough for me.
-
ok, we have a wrecked XT6 4wd car at work, even though it has air suspension there are plenty of other cars to grab the struts from. what do you guys think, keep my car with pugs, which i dont really like that much. or do the 5 lug swap so i can run the WRX wheels we have at work. or if i cant get those rims get some stock 16's off an outback or if i have to run the 15inch steelies, then sell the pugs, and all my disk brake stuff that i just put onto the red wagon. i really want the 5 lug so i can get some nicer rims, pugs just dont do it for me anymore. Thanks, Shean

ok today at work i pulled a set of rear KYB shocks and springs off a 4wd car. but then found a set of 2wd ones and cut the springs on them. my question is, both sets are KYB's mind you, can i use the kyb's from the 2wd on my car or are those also longer then the 4wd one's and if thats the case ill just snag the 4wd ones and cut 2 coils off them. and also i grabed a set of front 4wd springs off thats same 4wd car, and cut like 2 coils off, how much lower will i be in the front with those, i was hoping for about 1 to 1.5inches. Thanks, Shean

put some XT or RX lower control arms on with rear sway bars, RX rear disk brakes, and some stiffer springs. Good luck, and Welcome to the board. Shean

Dieseling After Weber swap
The Scooby replied to The Scooby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yepers, thats what ive been doing all day today, i drove to work no problems except the lack of power it has, but i thank god that i was smart enough to put in a vacume gauge, which i leanred that i have a BUNCH of vacume leaks now, that i have to track down. outside under the hood again i go... Later, Shean -
ok now that i got my car running like it should, not blowing steam out the exhaust or overheating, when it gets warmed up, and i shut it off it diesels, can someone please send me a link, or tell me out to properly tune the idle and timing so it wont do this. Thanks, Shean PS, i just want to get the weber witht he bigger venturies compared to the DFV series, but this car still kicks arse.

Sealing Water Port for Weber
The Scooby replied to The Scooby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
well i get home from work today, i cut my driving light wire and put on a female connector, and hook up the choke, turn the switch on and start up the car, let it warm up, and take it for a drive. let me just say, i have never seen so much tire smoke from a subaru before. i found a troubleshooting link on carbs.net and it was the dam choke, it would bogg down the motor ecause it wasnt opening all the way at wide open throttle. i just cant wait to get a DGV series 32/36 with the bigger venturies, rather then this DFV 32/36. torque is your friend, treat it kindly. -
Sealing Water Port for Weber
The Scooby replied to The Scooby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ya i know that, but its even slower then the car was with the hitachi, and the DFV series has bigger venturies then the dam hitachi anyways i took it got a drive, runs like absolute ****, when i dont engage the second barrel it runs just like it did with the hitachi, slow, then i punch it, it pops/backfires, and surges back and forward. so i get it home FINALLY, refill the radiator since it was low, and im back trying to figure this crap out. this sucks, i need to go to work tomarrow and i now have no car, i dont trust it to drive 30 miles to work then 30 back. THIS SUCKS!!! shean out working on the car AGAIN
