  1. current and first offroad/trailrig i actually am getting to build. never had time or the funds before. 85 blue EA82 wagon, 5sp D/R, carbed. Pug 15inch flat spokes w/ Wildcat 215/75/15 tires soon to have a SJR 2inch lift, custom exhaust, and later on a carbed EJ22 swap and keeping the D/R tranny, some safari doors, roof rack, and custom bumpers as well as a winch possably.
  2. ok well looks like im gonna have to get my welder fixed or barrow my bosses to build a kit. on 2inch you dont need to extend the steering shaft right? also brake lines are good until over a 4inch lift?

ok i just picked up some pugs in 15's, and put some wildcat 215/75/15's on it, took a salzall to the front fenders and did soem beating, now they clean no problem. but when going into full articulation the rears dont clear the fenders. this is a 85 wagon and the rear shocks are at their lowest height setting. now when i put them to the tallest setting i should be fine right? in theory i really only need 1inch of clearance and a BFH will do the rest, but what is the gain when going from lowest to heighest setting on those shocks? Thanks
  4. im down, i hope to have some better all terrain tires by then and maybe a lift, if not just hacked fenders and some guts. i broke her in yesterday after i put on the pugs and i was surprised of the ground clearance gain and its ability.
  5. ya thats what i figured, i just didn't want to remove them fully and break them down.
  6. what happened, this site has really slowed down over the last 6 years.
  7. ok wondering the easiest way to ajust the rear shocks to the highest setting. i pulled it off the rears and tried with a spring compressor but they wont budge. any easy quick way? Thanks, The Scooby
  8. its ok, i was showing off, no one in the car just goofing around thinking i was collin mcrae, and had my wheels on full l9ock and decided to take out a 4inch by 4inch wood post. well i now have to hammer it back out. oh well
  9. every car i have had i took off the mechanical fan, and shroud. never had any problems in hot or cold weather with engine temp. even beating the crap out of it off road, mind you this is the stock radiator in a 88 GL, 86 3dr turbo, and 86 GL also.
  10. thanks i have a second one also that i am selling.
  11. i assure you, i am not new to these things i have built many race cars that comply with all regulations, it fastenes back behind the rear seat, where with the geometrey it will hold me in place with no compression. also the sides go down and fasten to the factory locations for the seat belt, so they will be plenty safe for street use and playing around in fields.
  12. got a free 3pt harness from the owner of the performance shop i work for yesterday. tossed it in last night. its not like its a fast car, just makes me feel more secure in the seat while sliding sideways at 30+mph. also have to rep my new wagon mafia sticker
  13. yep... that sure is a wheel[end redneck voice]

ya i thought it was rather funny that i yanked him out with no problem in 4lo when we was saying on the pumpkins, then i sank to the frame and took a D9 to pull me out. when the ford was trying i was in 4lo and it only moved like an inch. and the D9 just idled me out it was cool to see.

well last night was the first time ive been had to be pulled out. i was driving home when i was flagged down by a few teenagers that had got their stock wrangler stuck in the mud. so i went uot to the field and pulled him uot no problem, but when i was driving back to the road i drove the same way out and got high centered. well the mud we where on was seriously like quick sand. so i found a guy with a lifted F250 and i had to get my girlfriend come get me so i could go buy a tow strap. got back and tried to get it out. we ended up having to get one of the D9 cat's and use it to get me out. oh well, had fun in the 60+ mph gusts and the pouring down rail just glad there was someone to help me out. i know now that i really need that recovery kit fo sho
  16. check coolant level, mine was doing the same thing, ended up coolant was just low.
  17. with my 86 GL i had the drivers seat was toast, so i was working at aaron's wrecking yard at the time so i picked up a set of impreza seats, used the GL brackets after unbolting them from the stock seat, the front 2 bolt wholes match up so i put a nut/bolt in there, then just redrilled the 2 rears and just tossed another set of nuts/bolts and bolted them back into the car. they do sit higher then the stock seats, or was that from the stock seats having no foam left legacy seats cant be THAT different. im thinking about putting a set of WRX front's in for my offroader
  18. then today i found out that the stock exhaust can get it the way, it now looks like a pretzel after i was run pulling it out from between the mustash bar and the car. i guess the car was saying that it wants a better flowing exhaust. it ripped the welds at the cat right off where it goes to the rest of the exhaust post cat.
  19. sorry for the crappy night pictures but oh well, and the darn rain washed most of the mud off. looks like i need to find some more trails to hit.
  20. ya i just went back to that place on my lunch break, the post was burried in teh ground atleast a foot, and i took that thing right out now to pull the RR wheel and hammer it back so i can fit the bigger tires in.
  21. well it was raining this morning as usual in seattle, and i had 30minutes till i had to be at work, 2minute drive, so i went down to my local rally location and had some fun. well i was sliding it around like colin Mcrae until i went a little far, and found out that street tires on the rear, and snow's on the front is perfect for sliding, but not stopping. i ended up taking uot a 4inch by 4inch wood post that was holding a sign up. put a dent on the passenger side rear door as well as pushed the area of the boddy up, so im gonna have to take a hammer to that. oh well ill have to get pictures later when i get home, the whole car is covered in grass and chunks of earth. the car used to be blue and to think i almost sold the car, im dam happy that i didn't. now i cant wait for my 14 pug alloy's and 185/70 tires so i can clear some of the stuff on the trails.
  22. sorry, but i cant justify spending more on exhaust then i did on the car. litalone on a stainless system that will get bashed and beat to crap.
  23. its amazing how many people need to do some research... yes it reduces NOx, but it also sends the vapor back through your engine to make sure you burn every partical of gas that you put in your tank. as well as droping your cylnder temps causing less pinging or detenation, causing your engine to use less fuel to get the same HP output. so good luck with your engine life/milage. if you care to disagree all i have to say is go read a book or something.
  24. im sorry, but why did you remove your EGR? if it was bad and your broke pick up one from a wrecking yard, a EGR doesn't kill horsepower, it helps with your fuel milage. so im just wondering why you got rid of it? another thing is it keeps cylnder temps down which helps the engien last longer.
  25. i took the whole rear trailing arms axels and the brake assembly from a 88RX that we where sending to the crusher when i worked at aaron's auto wrecking and it all bolted to my 86GL wagon, even used the RX brake lines.
