1986 gl hatchback tail light
The Scooby replied to rayban1's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if you have a small propane torch heat up the back size, it will loosen the bond on the glue. if not a heat gun or a hair dryer works as well. -
runna likkkeeeaaaaa ************ttaaa
The Scooby replied to The Scooby's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ya i pulled the driver outter cover to check the belt the other day and they look like they where done a little while ago, so i dunno. i was thinking of doing the nose job before the show. looks like this paycheck will be gone. -
ok so when i got my 86 wagon it ran like junk, ether no top end or no low end torque (i know for this car it should have a little) replaced the cap and rotor, vacume advance since it was bad, fuel filter under the car by the tank, checked timing and it will only run half way decent when its fully advanced. if i drop the timing to 10 it has ok bottom end but just wont accelerate. then when it is advanced all the way it has no power until atleast 2500rpms. any thoughts. its getting REALLY anoying. ive replaced the carb with another hitachi that came off one of my other 86's that ran fine. almost forgot. i just filled my tank, went 195 miles on 11.2 gallons. i try to shift under 3k in town and under 4k when gettin on the highway. also i did notice my altrinator putting out 18volts on the gauge. could that effect it? Thanks, Shean

ea71 lift (more pics of fiished product)
The Scooby replied to michael appel's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
very nice. ive always loved the gen 1's. that was the first car i drove same color in fact. and i think the front bumper is awsome. very different that what everyone does and i like that. -
my 82 with 2inch lift. dont care if its pretty, would like your logo cut into it like the lift blocks for the struts. and dont want openings for drain and filter. i rather drop the skid plate to do that every 3 months then not and drop a engine.

still fighting with my 85 brat
The Scooby replied to subyrally's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i was having the same issue with mine. ended up being the vacume advance on my dizzy was bad. had to advance it all the way to have top end and a decent bottom end. replaced that and its alot better now. i just know my carb is junk cause the accelerator pump is leaking and the choke is broke. waiting till payday to get the rebuild kit for my weber. -
ya i feel your pain, hoping im going to have time to get my lift from SJR and installed, as well as getting a weber rebuilt, installed and tuned so it will run reliably down there the show and back as well as weeling. as well as trying to get my front/rear bumpers finished, subaru rally decals i ordered hoping to recive soon. as well as fitting some ajustable height 98 legacy OB seats front and rear in the wagon (got the fronts in tonight in about 30minutes, gonna try for the rears tomarrow. also building a roof rack. i bought the car 1 month ago and im trying to get everything done for the show. not including replacing crappy parts (alt first one died grabed another from work and it died today) dizzy vacume advance took a crap so that was another $50 plus tune up and maybe doing a nose job. i dunno though.

2000 Outback limited Wagon Headlights
The Scooby replied to sdunlap20's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
lol ya i copied the wrong link, lol im retarded. -
well its leaking gas out of the power valve and onto the engine block you can move the throttle open and closed running or not and watch it drip. that and after like 20 minutes of running it carbon fowled out my plugs. and after cleaning them and trying to drive it runs like absolute dog crap. so i also need to order the correct jets because im sure its not jetted right for my engine.
-
so who do you deal with for a complete rebuild kit w/ power valve. also who for jets? need to rebuild both my carbs as well as rejet them.

2000 Outback limited Wagon Headlights
The Scooby replied to sdunlap20's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
no they are not. try this: ebay.com search JDM headlights for subaru find JDM orignal projector headlights pay for said iteam when you recive the iteam put them in. crack a beer and stare at your handy work. here i did most of the work for ya http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-Subaru-Legacy-BG5-PROJECTOR-HEADLIGHTS-VERY-NICE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2em14Q2el1318QQhashZitem110270707017QQitemZ110270707017 -
ya ive done the swap before. i got the idle down, fixd the leak so now i just need to do a little tuning and ajustments and it will be good to go. not, the dam accelerator pump stil leaks, i took it for a drive and it runs like ************, boggs the entire time i give it any throttle. i checked the plugs and they are black. so tomarrow ill get a rebuild kit and some new jets and put that in then see what she will do.
-
hell ill take the shell if you wanna sell it
-
well i got my adapter on, dam screw they suplied (redling that is) are too big for the manifold, and they dont give you any nuts and lock washers to hold the weber to the adapter. so i go to the hardware store, get what i need, get home and in about 20minutes i am ready to fire it up. major vacume leak, fixed that, now even with the throttle all teh way closed it is sitting at about 2k rpms. and the dam accelerator pump is leaking. so now i need to order a rebuild kit for it, take it back apart. as well as pick up a new filter since mine is all dirty as heck. so how hard is it to rebuild one? it seems to look very easy, and while im at it was going to rejet it, and replace the bushings with bearings.

i doubt its a subie for some reason. unless its a justy.
