  1. see i have another EJ22 that i was getting, so i have a EJ22 sitting here, SJR adapter plate kit, i just need the 5sp d/r tranny and it will go right on in.
  2. this is my car, 2inch suspension on 28's, thats why i ask.
  3. na im gonna pick it up, play with it here and there. just need to find room since right now i alone have 8 cars.
  4. well right now i have a 78 chevy truck that is a toy for the future to restore and play with, then my 86 lifted wagon, my 96 lowered impreza, my wife has a 97 outback limited, also i have 3 VW aircooled bugs, soon to be a 4th, also a 64 ford falcon convertible. we just got in a clean 82 GL hatch at my work, 4sp d/r, white, rebuilt heads and head gaskets, runs good has a small miss at 2K rpms and the tranny is a little noisy. but whats to be expected for a car that is this old and with over 270K miles. it will just be another one to lift, 4inch and some nice wheels but mainly a cruiser, it would get a EJ22 and 5sp d/r as well. my boss owes me a EJ22 engine but i might just take this instead what do you guys think. body is good and straight, paint is decent, little surface rust here and there, but it also has perfect bumpers, 3rd eye, and the factory subaru square fogs. i dunno if i have room/time to mess around with it, but i love the little hatch's and would hate to see it get destroyed or crushed.
  5. i would not use it simply because the heat under the hood like that can effect the strength of the aluminum, case in point, i work in a subaru wrecking yard, kid had a 06 2.5i impreza, rolled it and the engine caught fire. we pulled the engine and tore it apart to see if anything was good for a rebuild to sell. even the valves where brittle, it had made the intake manifold and water cross over pipe so weak that they crumbled in your hands.
  6. windshield washer warmer, your car has the cold weather package basically, i bet this is a 95-99 legacy, or newer, but some of the 90-94 legacy's had them as well which i believe was the alpine edition.
  7. ^^this guy knows his stuff^^ i only add that the flexplate for the 2.5 is different from a 2.2, so you need to reuse your 2.5 flexplate. and only auto 2.2 cars have the EGR until 98 when most of them have them.
  8. if you want something that is reliable, and is a drop in go in a few hours then go 2.2. if you want to spend months wiring everything and goofing around then do something else. ive put MANY 2.2's into outbacks honestly you dont notice the difference.
  9. im VERY intrested in the brat, if i can get some pictures and you location please.

  10. get the car, worst case you replace the tank and lines, on the FWD its CAKE work. get the car and enjoy. or since you will have to drop the tank ether way change it to AWD.
  11. i can do a tune up on a DOHC 2.5 in 30 minutes, you just need to learn the short cuts or tricks to make your life easier. honda timing belts are a ***************, oil changes are a pain on lowered ones, etc. anyways i have worked on cars for over a decade now, and by far i rather do a tune up/timing belt on a DOHC 2.5 then a honda anyday.
  12. im running 30's, and i agree with monsteru, my car is not a hardcore trail rig or rock crawler. its just for some light trails, and mud pits.
  13. na im putting a EJ22 into my lifted wagon right now, as well as just finished my custom rear bumper. im keeping it, but wouldn't mind a brat, trying to find a GEN1 mostly though.
  14. i have the same ones, they stick out a little, not too bad, maybe 1.5inches or so with my 215/75/15's wild cat A/T's
  15. yep on MY00 they when to the 11.4 brake rotor size, same as the WRX on the front. you will need 16inch or larger. why not just get some snow tires and have them put on your stock wheels, then when snow is gone remount your old all seasons or whatever.
  16. swap it to AWD just need the tranny, rear suspension cradle, and AWD gas tank. a weekend and you got AWD.
  17. dont try to turbo yours, you will be limited to around 5-6PSI which might make another 40HP, but for $2000+ for the turbo kit its not worth it. you also have to look at the resale value, you will NOT be able to get anywhere near the money you put into it back. i suggest to wait, save your money and keep the reliable car you have now. when your done with school and such get a newer turbo legacy and enjoy that. im 22 years old, have had 19 cars, and thus far my 96 impreza has all suspension done, you can enjoy suspension every day, alot of power you cant use most of the time.
  18. 90-98 2.2 will work, only difference is in 96 they switched to single port exhaust, so if you buy a older engine just get the front y-pipe from the place you get the engine from. +100 yes
  19. soobie's are alot cheaper then honda's, i know that first hand. find a 90-99 legacy with a 2.2 engine, do the oil changes, and timing belt when needed and they will last for ever.
  20. intrested, post some pictures and ill let you know
  21. ill be there ether in my lifted wagon thats getting a EJ22, and/or my 96 impreza that i took down last year.
