also what minimum weight for a winch you would recomend. found one locally for $100, 2,000 pound pull. i was thinking with a snatch block and a few pullies it would be fine to pull my car around right? or should i save up and get like a warn or ramsey 4-6Klbs winch? Thanks, Shean
  5. well that sucks, but just to let you know, the stubs comming out of the front diff are soposted to have a little movement. all subies are like that even on the new ones. check your drive line, you could have lost a weight or the joints are going bad. pull it out and move it around. if it feels crunchy, wack the side of the u-joint where its pressed in with a hammer and re check. i had the same problem with the wife's outback, hit it with a hammer and its good as new. little trick i learned while working on cars for the last few years.

well ive been wanting to make a new bumper for a while now, and now that i got a welder today i can build something simple with light mounts, and beefy enough to be able to pull my car with. started with some 3X6 tube steel, and got some steel pipe thats 2.5inch OD and made a grill protector. still have to add some light tabs for mounts, maybe some headlight protectors, finish weld the bumper brackets, and make up a skid plate. so hopfully tomarrow if i get time after golfing i can bolt it into place to check everything then finish weld the mounts. if you have any recomendation or ideas please feel free to toss them out. ill get some pictures uploaded in an hour or so.
  7. ill have to pass this time, rather save money for gas, spare tires, tool kit, etc. for WCSS
  8. how long of a drive is it from seattle? if not too far i would be down to go.
  9. why not fashion up some sway bar quick disconnects and have best of both worlds. takes about 1 hour to make a set for the front and back, have them in when on road, pull them in a few seconds when ready to wheel. im making a set right now for my wagon.
  10. ya you do have too many, you need to sell my that brat now for $1200.
  11. im down for anything, dunes sound good, i was planning on going to the beach anyways with the wife, i know she will have fun no matter what we do since we are getting out of the house. i hope to have my 2inch lift by then and maybe a welded rear diff.
  12. what size lift and tires are you guys runnin? if my plans are good enough for me to be able to make it ill be down to go anytime.
  13. that looks like fun. can't wait to build some safari doors for my GL wagon and get out onto some trails.
  14. ok looking for a wiring diagram on the just tranny's. the one im working on is a 1990, injected pushbutton 4wd. put a JDM tranny in it, problem is is that the old trans had 2 sensors, JDM has 3, no matter how you hook up the two ether 4wd light stays on or stays off but 4wd doesn't work. any help
  15. lift it, and put some mud tires on her, have the whole car sprayed in truck bedliner, then have fun in the trails.
  16. anyone done it? we have many stock cd player stereo's from legacy's at work and i wanted to see if it will go in. Thanks, Shean

no the front im leaving alone, rears are at the highest, and when i do the lift ill do 2inch in the front and drop the sub-frame 1inch, and the rear 2inch and drop the rear diff 2inches. i think ill be fine with that settup

let see, was offroading with a buddy in his chevy luv that was on 33's, went slow through a small pond about half way up the tires, water hit the coil and it dies there. got a replacement from the wife after 2 hours. and ive done the 4wd thing a few times wondering why it was so hard to go anywhere.
  20. i like power tools so i have no problem cutting the crap out of the fenders to get it to fit.

well if there is anyone in the sound area of seattle and willing to help me build one i am very willing to pay for your help. i was gonna build it myself but i have to get my welder fixed and stuff. i was thinking of 2inch suspension, 1inch front subframe, 2inch rear shocks and 2inch at the diff would be fine for a trail rig and daily driver. im not wanting something hardcore just a fun trailrig i can use to go hunting, and play in some mud here and there.

ya i clear in the front fine just on full lock it rubs while driving. rear rubs on large bumps and on full compression of the rear suspension. i tried 2wd rear shocks and they are the same size as my 85 4wd ajustables at the tallest notch. i think i should be fine after i roll the fenders and the 2inch lift. i measured the tires and they are 26.5's so with the 2 i hope to be fine, if not then they rub a little.

im running 215/75/15's on stock 85 suspensino and offroading on full compression they do rub in the back alittle. i was gonna pick up the SJR 2inch lift kit but i want to make sure i will not rub, i dont mind the occaisional rub but not all the time. ive searched but found nothing, Thanks, Shean
