  1. i drive around A LOT in 4wd on my 27inch SSR's and have yet to have any issues. but i did break a rear axel the other day doing doughnuts in a field, go figure.
  2. EJ it, ive done SPFI swaps and noticed it easier to start, but that was it. when the EA82 i had in my 86 tanked i wanted to just toss in another EA, but after trying to find one and coming to the realization that its a garbage engine i put the EJ in mine. now i will never go back and i will EJ swap any EA81 or EA82 car i buy in the future. that is if i ever sell my lifted wagon i have now. just find a better carb for now and put stock size wheels/tires until you go wheelin. save the money for the swap.
  3. 233K and change on old EA82, 119K on the EJ22 i swapped in
  4. oh ya i know how jeff rolls. i can't wait to get mine out and dirty again.
  5. looks good, with even a 2inch lift i think its will be perfect
  6. well if i don't sell my wagon and/or am not in europe on vacation by then ill be there.
  7. no not a trebeca and na the springs don't touch anything in the fender well. ok so people stop belly aching this is what they are made up of. EA82 shock body, 01 outback lower spring perch, 01 outback springs, 01 outback top strut cup, and modded loyale top mount.
  8. use a cut off wheel with a air system, its will cut cleaner then most other tools especially a sawzall and zap has a 4inch lift on his hatch.
  9. are you looking for OEM replacement shocks or used. also are you looking for stock replacements or aftermarket struts/lift struts.
  10. yes i will be selling them as a complete ready to go assembly. yes saving $20 but that is for the spring only not a complete assembled shock and spring combo ready to go that are dime a dozen, easy to find, and easy to build. also you mention the accord springs... how many 80-84 honda accords are in wrecking yards anymore. even with my work that is subaru only the early 80's cars are few and far between. so you can imagine how long a car like that will last at any other wrecking yard, im sure it will be brought in, drained of fluids, pull the wheels and tires and sent to the crusher. and you are still way off on the springs.(what they came off of) anyways i installed them yesterday and took it for a drive. MUCH stiffer but still has good travel for articulation. i took it to a light trail by my place and the rear was way more planted compared to the stock springs. also it does not sag as much in the back now. they do talk a little while wheeling but nothing that isn't normal. pictures of the comparison:
  11. well if i get them to work i kinda want to keep that to my self for a little while. if i can't then ill let everyone know the year span, model, and such.
  12. true, but i don't see any info on 2000+ legacy's. i tried to compress them side by side with the stock loyale to these and the loyale i could compress 2inches, and the new ones where about 3/4 of an inch.
  13. true but how much are the aftermarket eiback or GC springs? i can build a pair of them for my cost which is $100 a pair.
  14. ya its a newer model subaru coil spring, and everything can be easily found and these can built in a few minutes really now that i know what i need to make this work. so once i get them installed ill post pictures of ride height before and after as well as a write up on how the car handle's after compared to the wishy washy way it is now.
  15. ya but you are stuck with the weak 160 or 200 lbs springs that are still in there. here are what they look like assembled. i will do a side by side comparison to the stock shock/spring combo tomorrow when i install them so you can see the size difference between my hybrid's and the stockers.
  16. im sure he has 5 lug since he is looking for a rim offset in a 17inch and the fact he has been here for years.
  17. Mwhahaha so today i was thinking of a way to get some stiffer springs in the back of my 86 lifted wagon so the back wont slouch when i give it gas or when i load it down. and yatizie!! i found a nice combo using the orignal EA82 strut body with a new lower perch, top hat, and spring. mind you this is all subaru OEM parts. i built a pair today after hours of tinkering and will hopefully install them into my car tonight and then test them tomorrow to and from work as well as some off-road area's. they come out to the same overall size as the stock 4WD rear struts so there is no lift but only a higher spring weight to compensate for loads and normal driving to fight against the rear sagging under load. pictures to come tonight.
  18. let me know what i can do to help scott for pictures or advice on the swap just give me a jingle sometime.
  19. actually when i did my EJ22 swap having the car with the 2inch lift and 27's made it ALOT easier because then i didn't have to jack up the car to remove the exhaust or anything like that just crawl under. lookin good scott
  20. welcome, and check the offroad section, lots of info there http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=24980
  21. i don't care who is lifted and who is, its personal preference and i would tell those who do care if you are or aren't lifted ill tell them to get lost.
  22. so how did your search help me find a AFTERMARKET clutch kit? so thanks for nothing there. ive thought of the XT6/EA82T settup but again i would like something in the 600KG range. im gonna contact Spec and see what their clutch disk material is made of ie organic or composite, and what the clamping force is on the pressure plate.
  23. if you are going to do a exhaust go 2inch anything more will be too large for that engine. also look into cams from Delta. other then that its like polishing a turd (been there done that myself)
