  1. I think he's successfully retained a good deal of character.
  2. Not sure, but the mounting points are destroyed, so I'll be replacing the whole thing some time.
  3. Yeah, getting the new control arm in was a bit of a pain. Because the mounting point on the engine crossmember is messed up, the arm didn't want to just slide in and once it was in it was not in the right spot; it was angled way back. I had to install the control arm and radius rod separately and then winch the control arm forward until the radius rod bolts fell down into their appropriate holes.
  4. Okay, first off, let's all just forgo the "it looks like an Audi/Infiniti/Chevy/..." comments. They're rather useless posts that turn into some sort of argument far too often. Instead, I'm just curious what people actually think about it. Personally, I'm not exactly thrilled by it (I liked the teaser more), but I think it could be a good start. Obviously it's just a concept, so things will change, and that's good. I think the paint looks bad with that lighting, there is too much chrome, the headlights are borderline, the lower grill/bumper doesn't fit the rest of the car and the mirrors just don't look good. All of which are things that never usually stay completely the same from concept to production (except maybe the chrome window frames). Which is why I think it's a good start. Other than that I like the lines down the side, the familiar shape of the windows from current models and the whole rear end. They even made the Impreza sedan's hideous trunk lid mustache look good. Perhaps the best thing about it is that I like the whole thing more now than I did when I started this. Too bad I won't ever consider one until they make them in normal wagon form again. Outbacks just don't do it for me. Full Legacy concept gallery at jalopnik.
  5. Hate to hear it man. Luckily it's just parts to replace. Not that they look that bad... (I didn't think to take a picture of what was left of my bushing. lol)
  6. I'll agree to everything he said, except that the first two are definitely SVX wheels. (John, they say Subaru on the center caps. )
  7. Top, bottom and inner edge?
  8. +1 If I remember correctly he spent years on that thing and built one amazing sub frame.
  9. I'll play. I slid my Brat into a curb when I hit some ice and destroyed my rim, messed up my steering rack, bent the control arm mounts on my engine cross member, bent my control arm, bent my tie rod, separated my ball joint and broke the axle (all the stuff you'd expect to break). I was still able to make it home with a good control arm and a couple of tie down straps though.
  10. If you're looking for just the dual carb intake and carbs, they show up on here from time to time. Monstaru actually had some for sale recently (not sure if they're still available). There isn't really a place you can just get them though. If you're looking for the whole deal, dual carb intake, carbs, heads, cam and such, then you just have to close your eyes, pray really hard, be very very very patient and possibly make a few friends in the right places. Luck is good too.
  11. Or hatch. That sucks man. Sorry to hear it.
  12. Okay, thanks. I didn't realize there were a couple of them down there.
  13. I'd love to post a reply to that, but it's not letting me: Actually, that Brat did originally come with the jump seats. They were removed though. It still has the mounting points above and below the rear window where the headrest posts bolted up. You can also see 4 of the 6 rust patches, in the bed, where the seats used to be welded in, but were cut out.
  14. Actually, looks kind of like this sort of stuff. http://www.lightbeaminc.com/products.html
  15. I can't remember what exactly it is, but I seem to recall that, on left hand drive cars, there is something that gets in the way of the second turbo. That'll be something to look into as well.
  16. Hey, they're in the closet too. :-p
  17. Thanks man. I'm going to try and pick up the pace on it (as in, do something). If you make it out this way, we'll start with a ride. That way you won't feel the need to hold back when you get behind the wheel.
  18. Well, you're not really going to like this update. Unfortunately I'm money, time, workspace and backup vehicle poor right now, so it's not going very fast at all. I still need to pickup a full EA81 reseal kit, water and oil pumps, two Hitachi carb rebuild kits, finish cleaning, finish rebuilding, put together, get (at least a temp) exhaust fabbed up, tune carbs and so on. And sorry, but you're at least second in line for the engine. If I went crazy and sold it, you'd still have to hope hatchsub passed it up. :-p This picture should give you a pretty good idea of what's up.
  19. It can be done. You'll need a rear disc swap, some Nissan parts and some figuring though. A quick search found these threads: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=25854 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=31217 http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=63647 Have fun.
  20. ettev, it doesn't look like you even have a return spring... ???
