  1. Metric measurements should be outlawed. Sorry to hear you got stuck with the fabled 390's - do they look just like these 15" flat spokes? What's the cost of tires for 390's like?
  2. Have you considered changing the primary (rear) fuel filter? It's a $5 part and pretty darn easy to change w/ limited resources. I would say by-passing the filters ain't such a good idea. Asuming this is your EA81, it's probably pretty similar to my Brat. Fuel filter is just infront of the driverside rear wheel and clearly visible from under the car.
  3. Can either of you guys shoot a couple of pics to display the wheel offset? From the pics I've seen (never checked it in person) it looks like the wheels have a good bit more offset than most other 4-lugs.
  4. D-Cal, thanks for taking the time to post on this for all of us who have no previous knowledge of this material to read! If any of you guys who are familiar with this electro-hacking shenanegins are thinking that you could pull it off or at least take part in it, there are probably a bunch of USMB'ers that would be more than happy to assist with parts and $$ for your time, expertise, required parts, and food/drink to help the people with the tools to do it pull it off. I am one of those who is more than willing to assist in any way. -this is probably the greatest thread ever-
  5. Man! That sucker must have walked right in there. I wouldn't expect you to be driving at anything above 15~20mph at a solid wall Anyways, what tires are you using? That's pretty smooth, thanks for taking the pic.s and sharing them!
  6. I think you can run an XT6 flywheel on any EA82. (Don't know for sure) Otherwise, you need to have a regular EA82 flywheel machined to fit an XT6 clutch kit.
  7. As I understand it, in order to run this clutch in an EA81 4WD I need to find a throw-out bearning that fits the EA81 tranny. Everything else will fit using an EA82 flywheel that is machined to run the XT6 flywheel. Am I on the right track?
  8. My EA81T has a cat. and 2.5" piping. The outlet is something like 3". It sounds 'throaty' and I love it; I can turn heads toward my vehicle by rev'ing it and the off-throttle sound as it rev's down is probably my favorite thing ever.
  9. I like to keep my composure for the most part and avoid dangerous stupidity on my part and that of others. Has anyone seen the movie "Fubar" (documentary style)? I have decided to be more like 'Tron' since seeing the movie for the first time.
  10. I finally grew up today and now am old enough to drink alcohol for the first time So, to kick it off I will be distributing alcohol to friends and throwing a party. Anyone got some good 21'st party suggestions? My theme-song for today is DVDA - Now You're A Man. Any drinks I should make for myself, songs to blast, things to yell, etc.? I'd be inebriated right now, but I have my last final for the semester at 8PM.
  11. You just got me super stoked on my alloys that are coming! I think this style peugeot alloys is my favorite.
  12. He's right, I spent a good amount of time figuring out everything that you just said there. A full write-up would do wonders for those who are looking at doing this swap! One thing that I have yet to figure out on the USMB is: How can one run an EJ w/ an EA81 4SPD behind it. I did find that someone did it w/ their ER27 using their XT6 clutch kit and some random throw-out bearing that they found to fit at a parts shop. If this were a well defined step in the EA81 swap, that would make it a lot easier too.
  13. I did this 1 year ago and I'm pretty sure that you have to remove some associated ducting to access the 3 bolts. It was a bit of a hassel, but not a major deal and it goes back together pretty smoothly. Good luck.
  14. I could use an EA82 4WD. A ski lodge would be sweet.
  15. That's crazy, I just bought some of those 15"s on eBay from a guy in Maine for ~$120. I can't wait to get them and use them w/ summer tires! The lugs that I'm getting w/ the wheels sound like they are in poor condition as well. We need someone to manufacture a run of these lug nuts - it seems like a bunch of people are in need of them.
  16. I've been pondering a roll cage w/ roll bar incorporated down the road for my brat. Has anyone on the board built a roll cage for their Brat? I'm thinking of making a basic style roll bar w/ tubing that comes into the cab from there and along the roof and then down to the foot area. Cross pieces would be there and all. The tubes that go past the occupants' heads would come into the cab through the sliding windows. I may also make a piece that goes along the floor. All of this will be as non-intrusive as possible as far as restricting entry and exit of the vehicle. What do you all think? Is it worth all the effort as opposed to just a simple high roll bar?
  17. I haven't looked at the lugs in person, but judging by the wheel page picture of peugeot alloy lugs, as compared to your find, - it looks like it could work! They are priced well also - great find
  18. What does it take to 'modify' an EA81 strut cap to use w/ an EA82 strut?
  19. This is a tube bumper by mudrat designs - john bloom. Pretty simple straight-forward design, one of his early tube bumpers as i recall.
  20. I would also like to hear what you know about making one of these. If you have the time, feel free to enlighten us!
  21. YES!!!!! Thanks for sharing, that is exactly what I wanted to hear! Would you care to elaborate on the necessary fab'ing to make it work? If you have any pictures of how the vehicle sits with this setup, I would pay a high dollar just to see it
  22. Thanks for the heads up, we definately live in the 'hard-core' parts of the country! (Everyone else is lame-o.)
  23. How long would it take me to do a fuel filter in the 0F temp.s w/ vice grips?
