  1. if your taking the engine out, do the separator plate. if the engine has been sitting for a while, do the rear main seal.
  2. <<while you're at it find another shop, that is ridiculous>> +1 here. who did the work and how much did it cost?
  3. <<so for everything including hoses, coolant, oil, oil and air filter, pcv valve and said about gaskets and seals...It was $312.58.>> there you go. if you were to buy subaru parts that bill would have been around $500, then like grossgary stated, have a shop check/trim the heads so the problem doesn's come back. $150+ i'm not exactly sure the flat rate is like 6 total for both sides add 2 more for the seals, thats 8. multiply that by labor rate $65hr (which is cheap) $520 thats where you get the $1000 + did you replace the rear separator plate also?
  4. <<One of my questions for the Legacy swap, is the wiring for the clutch switches and manual transmission in place but not used?>> the clutch switch connector is there. you will have to find the correct pins on the a/t connectors that were unplugged under the hood and connect them to the manual tranny. <<What about the cruise control computer??>> not sure about that.
  5. its pretty straight forward. do you have the donor manual car? that helps alot. i have done that same swap to the following vehicles: 1. 1992 svx 2. 1991 legacy turbo 3. 1995 subaru impreza 4. 1997 legacy gt make sure you don't cut any of the trans wires in the engine compartment- use donor ones that can still plug in and cut off about 4 inch from where they plug in. let me know if you run into any problems.
  6. I have a few brand new ones that I bought from a Suabru dealer a few years back. These are the stock OEM ones that were part of the campaign in the early 1990's. They are $15 shipped to the 48 USA states. P.M. me if your interested. I'll post a pic on Friday night of them.
  7. what do you need to do that you can't do in a driveway? or do you not have a driveway to work on?
  8. when i put a 5 speed into my SVX, i had to have one made at a driveshaft specialty shop. they put in servicable u joints in and made the shaft that i supplied to the correct length. i think it came out to $250-$300
  9. that might work when you need to replace a small amount of coolant but that method won't work when some people mistakenly take out the radiator when doing a timing belt job. when there is no coolant in the engine block, you must fill through the engine block first, then fill the radiator. i have posted on this many times before.
  10. <<Anything missing?>> <<I have a 98 outback wagon that on occasion the temp gauge will rise to hot >> well, being that have let it get to the "H" more than once, have the heads checked for warpage.
  11. <<Is that pully wrench for the 2.2 or the 2.5 or they may be the same? Where do you buy that wrench at.>> the gold colored tool was used to disassemble/assemble the following engines at my shop: 1.8 2.2/all, 2.5/SOHC, 3.3 i ordered it about 10 years ago from some dealer tool suplier.
  12. <<The local subaru dealer, and SubaruParts.com, both want me to replace my flywheel with the clutch. (2001 outback)>> how much does your dealer want to charge you?
  13. <<hahaha, you aren't allowed by law to pump your own gas? oh, Oregon sorry...>> yeah, NJ and Oregon are the only two states that have that law i believe. how much are people paying a for a gallon of gas this week?
  14. <<Will a '91 Legacy Turbo intake help (fit?) my '90 Legacy EJ22?>> it will fit on, but help? not sure what you need nelped? in the ad it says it will fit EJ25 heads, which it will not.
  15. if you need help on filling the cooling system properly, refer to post #24 in this thread: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=71298&page=3
