  1. Gooberus That is very funny and inventive. Ha Ha Jay
  2. Are these races done in heats? Top three from each heat? What's the most conmmon car? My guess is Subaru for 4wd guys with a few Audis thrown in and small FWD would be Omni for the low buck and VW for the money crowd. Close? Looks like a blast and not big budget. Although I bet it can be big money if you let it. Read: competitive car. Jay
  3. I really don't have a good memory for this stuff but I think mine gave this code because of the thingy under the coil. Quick, someone name the thingy that goes bad on every freaking 87-88 Subaru MPFI/SPFI subaru out there. Ahh, it's that thing, under the coil, with the wire on the mount for the coil, you know, the THINGY! I guess I could search and make this post a bit more plausible. Jay
  4. Good for you! Be careful on a hot mid-corner lift. Remember : Understeer scares the driver. Oversteer scares the passenger. Enjoy and stay a gear down to pull out. Cryptically, Jay
  5. Here in VA ice racing is so different I can't even imagine the scene. Lakes are made for boats and swimming to me. For a big chunk of geography that has only been used for one purpose to be transformed into a race course for cars because it got cold enough is unheard of. Same goes for sitting in an ice shack fishing. Totally alien concept. Don't read this wrong, COOL COOL COOL thing to do. Like the colors on the car. So what's there to hit besides other cars? How do you get onto the lake? Boat ramps? One day I'll have to see this in person. Jay
  6. I hadn't thought of doing a kit. just buy the whole car. Fly in, drive home. Jay
  7. Took my bumper off and welded two threaded rods up through the bumper. Fabbed a bar with tubing ends that mounts to the threaded rod with big wing nuts so the light rack is removable when I don't need it. Lights are Hella 500's. fog and driver. I used to run on the National parkway 40 miles a day when I lived in the mountains of VA to get home from work. Most of the time it was in the early am. (4am-5am) So the only thing I had to worry about were animals and outrunning the headlights. And an occasional State Forest Ranger. Now with the FMIC I probably need to revisit the mounting position although I haven't used them in three months. Regards, Jay
  8. I can field this one.The roof rack is actually bolted to the factory roof rails and the weight is taken by the gutters. I didn't get to build the gutter clamps before I let the car go. looks like MM has some fabricating to do to finish up the rack right. Don't get me wrong, it works like a charm as is, just makes a bit of a racket inside the car. I've only seen the car this clean twice. It started it's life like this: Note bale of hay in the back. I have around 100 pictures of the resurrection and build-up if you would like them. MM, Did you use the clutch that was on the back of the spare engine? I was told that it was fairly fresh and the timing belts too. The car the engine came out of was run over(no kidding) by a dump truck. Compression was ~100 for all the cylinders. Glad to hear it's strong. I have the trim for the sides if you don't want to scavenge off the brown one. All the systems checked out OK on the Dolphin with exception of the heat furnace. I've got to diagnose that one soon. Did you have it going with full burner on and not just the pilot? Regards, Jay
  9. I'll give you 120.00 for the tires that are on it now(5) and come pick them up. Need to get that ratchet strap back too. Stay on top of the paint with wax or she'll go back to being dull. Does look good though. Jay
  10. Hey, mines an 1987 RX and it doesn't have a spoiler or any body kit lest the front air dam. I think I was robbed! Heh Heh. I amuse me. Jay
  11. My install has gotten a bit more clunky because this car is being driven everyday now and the welding and such is rushed. I will eventually clean it up to a better standard but for now I'm just enjoying the cool noises eminating from under the hood. still running factory boost pressure. All is well with the install. With exception of the ugliness I believe mechanically it's a success. oh, the redneck hoodpins have to go and install a grill. Jay Brian yours is looking good. I miss the painted pictures?
  12. Sarcasm is evidently dead in the language of type. The dry get misunderstood, obvious get insulting and the obtuse is lost. Time for a clarifying smiley. Jay I don't like the bags because they seem to get dirty too fast. The metal boxes are hard on interiors. I like the plastic boxes but haven't found any that I like.
  13. I received my FSM quickly after I paid. The check and FSM may have crossed in the mail. I agree with Moosens as far as the capitalizing on an investment angle. It's bad business to alienate your main audience. Jay
  14. Different strokes for different folks, but DAMN that's an ugly kit. No,No,no it's FUGLY. Did the designers have the car in the same room, no, state, when they penned that thing? Doesn't flatter the original design at all. One man's honest opinion, take no personal offense, Jay
  15. Please let everyone know how the Ebrake works when used in a Rally type situation, i.e. Pendulum swing. I want to know how the transmission will hold up to having two drive wheels stopped at once. In anger. What's the math on the XT6 rack as compared to the RX rack? Now that mod is one I'd like to do. My factory pump can't keep up with the rack that's in the car now, It would probably just outright die if I put a quicker rack in it. Nice list of modifications you have there. The only downside to the XT6 pressure plate I can see is not being able to get full use out of the material on it because you can't get the full adjustment out of the cable when it gets worn. I'm working on a solution now. Regards, Jay
  16. Sharp looking. What size tire is on the 16" wheel? Front strut mods? Jay
  17. Instant rice. HAH HAH HAH That's really funny Ken. Jay
  18. I would pay decent money for a couple factory correct OEM keys for the 87 RX. What can you find? Jay
  19. Looking really good. Make you a scoop out of styrofome that mimics the lines of the car. Make it look factory. (I've done this part three times, then went to FMIC) Cover in fiberglass. Work it out nice and smooth, paint, install. And if you don't have the time or anal retentiveness to get that specific, cut a hole. Get some fresh air to that thing! I'll get back with you after my trip to San Francisco about the pipe. Good job, Jay
  20. That's beautiful. It's a double in the first pic. Jay
  21. I've got three that are broken. /small hijack/Anyone have a good one? /end small hijack/ I agree. way fragile. What is the downside to a broken one? I've never noticed a difference in the way the car runs. Unless it's the cause of the slight surging while steady on the throttle. Jay
  22. Why haven't you gone ahead and done the 5 lug swap? Rim choices are virtually endless. Brakes in the back have the same caliper but more swept area. Jay
  23. Looks good all low and clean without all the huge stickers. I know, I know. sponsors, you said.:-\ Jay
  24. That's very convenient. I have a section of silicone hose and a really good place to plumb it into near the throttle body. Just need to cut out the sections to make it fit. (All you have to do to ensure you will modify a piece of pipe again is paint it!) I'm thinking I can plumb it to dump the excess in front of the turbo after the MAF where the silencer was before I cut it down for I/C piping clearance. To recap. I control this BPV with a tee in the factory wastegate control line from the pass side firewall, correct? I will eventually run the boost up a bit with a manual boost controller. But lets keep it from self destructing first. Thanks, Jay
