lowering my EA82 FAQ
Good info Brad... My experience when I swaped my -6 over from air. (REAR) I checked al kinds of GL and XT rear struts and looked for the one listed in the FSM as having shorter body length, what I found was, even though the 2wd drive have a shorter body length, the overall length is almost the same. The only exception to this I found is the '85/'86 adjustale rear struts from a 4wd or RX, they are close to 1" shorter when set on the lowest setting. I also flipped my top mount over (this would take some upper fender mods to fit) and gained another 1 1/4" this allowed to cut less off my spring and maintain better handling through more travel. I did cut 1 coil off my spring, any more than this and the sring would be shorter than the extended length of the strut, which is bad. The combination of these three mods yielded 3"+ inches of lowering while maintaining near stock performance. KYB has the adjustable struts available, I just ordered a set but they don't have the collars, so you would need to source a set of original ones. BTW Brad:::You're wagon looks GOOD!!!

EA82T install help for BPV, MBC, Boost gauge
Is there a write up on how to do this stuff? I found lots of info but nothing specific about where and how to plumb for the best performance. This will be on my '87 RX, I have a Saab 900 BPV, a turbo XS MBC and an Autometer boost gauge. Looking for the best place to plumb this stuff, if I need any additional parts and any helpful tips. Thanks

Strut Top, KYB or OE
What's the advantage of new strut tops? Where are you getting yours? I found good prices at pickproparts. I'm ordering a set Monday for the RX.

MY81Wagon Steering Lock/Ignition Switch Removal
The two with the broken off heads are very easy to remove. You need to start them with a small, sharp chisel and hammer and they will screw right out.

XT-6 Steering fluid brushes and cybrid fluid source

XT-6 Steering fluid brushes and cybrid fluid source
I got this contact from the excellent XT-6 site, www.xt6.net This dealer has the brushes and fluid in stock for the XT-6 cybrid steering. (My dealer didn't even know what an XT-6 was and didn't have a listing for steering parts or fluid, they said I would have to buy the whole pump for $775 and fill it with ATF---LOL) They were cordial and responsive to email and shipped my stuff quickly. I think these prices are good, I'm just glad to have this stuff: $40.06 Cybrid fluid $14.00 Brushes $12.00 Shipping Those are the Canadian prices, it was $54 total USD, should of bought this stuff 6 months ago (when the exchange rate was better!). Why would headlights on cause Rx to run rough?
Yep, check the battery, alternator and all the ground points. I've been reading that adding a few grounds really helps our cars as well.

Question for Corky or Tex about rear e brake
I talked to the authority and maybe it's because he's working on an XT-6? They bolt directly on the RX and the cable is positioned reasonably well. I just need to work out the front cable and the connection to the rear cables.

Question for Corky or Tex about rear e brake
I was wondering, the SX stuff seems like the way to go. Did you use retainer for the brake cables in the tunnel? How is the cable action doubling back like that, is it smooth and free?

Question for Corky or Tex about rear e brake
I'm curious abut the swap you did, I serched but only found the 200SX thread. What year/model parts did you use, what mods/fab was needed, did you use the stock brake handle and how did you route the cables. Thanks!

(prizeless) Contest: Guess the Problem
Are you sure water came from both plug holes? If so, I vote for a intake manifold coolant passage leaking into the intake ports...

The car Subaru never built... but should have.

update on EA82 steering wheel adaptors
There is a part number on one of the momo dealer sites, I thought they were around 45 bucks. I bought a new momo hub, in the box off ebay a month ago for $9.95 and bought a momo hub, steering wheel and horn button with a nice subaru logo for $100 shipped, from germany.
