I have a HTKYSA for sale, $20. You probably couldn't go wrong getting ShawnW's FSM though...hard to beat the FSM.

Lifted hatchback camber problems?(long)
If you move the tires up into the wheelwells the camber will decrease. You can do it by adjusting the struts down, if they are adjusted up or use shorter struts. You could also do as sugested and move the upper strut mount inward or move the lower control arm mounting point outward.

1987 dual range- SPFI
Most '87's had carbs, all (pretty sure) '88 and '89's had SPFI or MPFI/Turbo.

help with 1.8 to 2.2 conversion
XSNRG replied to XSNRG's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXYes, I was thinking it would be better to just find a 2.2. I like this car though because it has no A/C, power windows, door locks, etc., etc...I was thinking most that came with the 2.2 probably came with other options too. I don't know how Subaru packaged these, can anyone comment on the availability of a base model Impreza with a 2.2? So, can the wiring harness and ECU be changed to accomplish this or do the two harness have to be combined?

help with 1.8 to 2.2 conversion
XSNRG replied to XSNRG's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThanks JonOfScio, It sounds like I could use the same wiring harness? Just mix and match sensors and stuff? What about the ECU, can retain with compatible sensors? What is; OBD, AIC and AFAIK?

help with 1.8 to 2.2 conversion
I'm looking at a '95 1.8 Impreza. If I swap in a 2.2, what all would I need to change? Would there be any custom work needed or all bolt in? Thanks!

I riced out my car.... (warning, 56K)

Does anyone have info on this car?
If it's left hand drive, why is that guy sitting on the right with a steering wheel? Sorry, couldn't resist, I know what you meant. I would like that rear spoiler for my turbo coupe.

For further clarification; The RX full time trans has a center differential in it, this allows the car to run on the street in 4WD with out the drivetrain binding up, it lets the front and rear run at different speeds. This is the same as a front or rear diff that lets the opposite wheels run at different speeds. The lock on the diff is two collars that have cogs and slide together to lock. The regular Gl dual range 4WD trans is not designed to run in 4WD on the street so there was no need for the center differential. With no center diff, you do not have that weak link, it just has a solid shaft in the place of the center diff so no parts to fail in that area. This trans would work fine on the street for a RWD application, you would always run in 4 Hi or 4 Lo but not in 2wd, that drives the front. 4 Lo on this trans is a lower ratio than the RX trans. Shift on the fly would be the same, you would just need to be careful not to shift into 2WD, it wouldn't hurt anything but you wouldn't go anywhere either.

XT6 turbo...can it be done?
The XT-6 would be a better rally cross car without a turbo, they have great low end. The rally cross courses are usually short and tight, low end is an advantage. I have a turbo RX I rally cross and it really could use more low end. I drive a XT-6 to work and it has gobs of low end, I'm thinking they should switch jobs...

23 spline 5 lug swap
Cool...
-
D/R gurus
It might be easier just to replace it with a GL dual range trans with no center diff.
-
23 spline 5 lug swap
OK, I'll try to swap the DOJ and see if it fits, sounds good!
-
23 spline 5 lug swap
Is this possible? I know generally a 25 spline trans is used with this conversion but I'm wondering if EA82 axles can be used or if the DOJ on the XT-6 axles can be swaped with the 23 spline.

4WD sedans only in 84?
I checked the '80 through '84 sales brochure and they list the 4wd standard trans as N/A=Not Applicable.

Fender Cross-Exchange?
Not sure about the light but I think the fenders are the same. '87/'88/'89 would have the correct trim for your car as well. The '85/'86 fenders will work but the trim is different and it's glued on so there wouldn't be holes to mount your trim. '90+ fenders have trim without the chrome strip but the holes are there for the trim and it' easily changed.

Call me Crazy!! an XT6 on Solid Axles????
awesome car, one of my favorite top 5 at the show, very impressive. I was looking over the fab work and everything was well done. I have to agree it was dramatic when you arrived just after dark on Saturday and given an express pass to the mudpit!
