  1. SWEET! I'll be ice racing my xt6 this winter if everything goes well... www.icerace.com
  2. I also have xt6 'motion alloys' on my xt6... some day I'll upgrade but they're fine for now (plus it's winter soon.. they'll most likely be my winter shoes, and I'll get nicer ones for summer time when the livings easy)
  3. especially with increased towing capacity... solid rear axle w/ leaf springs anyone?
  4. I don't suppose he was willing to give you any insights as to the fitting of the ARP head studs? why are people so unwilling to share information that could benefit many more people than themselves
  5. check out the "ultimate snorkle" thread in the offroad forum....
  6. you really need to jump over to xt6.net.... I remember gary ("grossgary" here and there) posting a thread with pics about reconditioning older air struts... also lots of good info regarding which seals and o-rings go bad, plus we're all into xt's so we have at least a little bit of knowledge of the subject
  7. yes. check the oil before you start the engine EVERYTIME. otherwise you really will need a new engine.
  8. let me know how the xt6 cams go, as for that price I would punch myself repeatedly if I didn't get some
  9. impact wrenches have their place..... that's why I said "in my humble opinion"
  10. the thing with that is that steady pressure is less likely (IMHO) to break or twist a bolt off than sudden sharp pressure for a short period of time repeatedly (like beating ratchet with hammer)
  11. got to agree with morgan... you can't go wrong with a 2.2 unless the previous owner buggered it up real bad (like mine)
  12. I'd have to say, that if you've never done it before, there's a good chance it's going to be a big pain in the rear... but you'll figure it out. make sure to take a beer break if you need it
  13. I hope you sanded teh "chrome" really well until is was rough and then painted with hi-temp paint... otherwise you're goign to be very disappointed when you start smelling burnt spraypaint as you go down the street :-\
  14. the previous owner of my legacy did that... I couldn't get another pully in time though so just lock-tite'd it and CRANKED THAT SUCKER DOWN... didn't have a torque wrench but based on my calculations with socket wrench and pipe and my weight we had about 150-160 ft-lbs of torque on that sucker... hasn't come loose yet but the car only made it 1000 miles before encountering another debilitating problem that I haven't had much time to research
  15. there should be no problems putting a 2.2 turbo in your car. you will most likely need the wiring harness and computer, exhaust, and crossmember from the turbo car as well... I'm not an expert though, so all normal disclaimers apply
  16. well... on the xt6... unibody was tweaked a little, fender was smashed, stabilizer rod and control arm were bent as well as their mounting points.... honda... whole front end got ripped off (hood, wheels, suspension, radiator exploded, engine was trashed..) and I got to keep the grille/emblem from the front as a trophy from the tow-truck guy
  17. you should just drop an EJ22 (2.2L N/A) from a 1st gen legacy in there. lots more reliable than the 2.5 I think you have
  18. indeed! if you check out the front page of http://www.green-trust.org there is a link about a 76mpg TDI beetle......... WOWZAS
  19. tranny from below wasn't too bad in an xt6... should be cake in an ea82 (never done it though)
  20. mmmmmmm sleep..... on that note... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm brainnnnnzzzzzzzzzzzzz
