I was thinking about this today. For no reason.

Ugly noise from left rear quarter, and the right way to fix it. .
Nug replied to Gnuman's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXOil and rubber don't generally mix. If anything, I'd use a silicone spray. Or a silicone-based grease. Petroleum makes rubber rot over time.

Should I Go To midas or 15min Oil change Places?
Nug replied to BC_Grown's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe 15 minute places make their real money selling secondary services, like air filters, tranny flushes, etc. It's okay to tell them specifically which services you want performed, and to refuse anything extra. Be wary of oil changes. More than once has a front differential drain plug been mistaken for the oil pan drain. Bad things happen. It's okay to hang around the shop and 'supervise'. Jiffy Lube and the dealer may be using the same radiator flush machine, I don't see much of a difference there. Modern cars don't really require tune ups. Oil changes, spark plugs and wires, valve adjustments (if you have solid lifters) pretty much cover everything. Another secondary service, IMHO. I'd just stick to the maintenance schedule. What specifically is the transmission doing that you are concerned about? Auto or Manual?

broke a hard brake line! I really did it this time (PICS)
Just take what you have, plop it on the counter, and tell the counter guy to come up with a solution. Don't panic.

$150 Brat
Va DMV seems to have its own judicial powers. This guy will have to appeal to DMV. Edit: Robby found the recipt from when he turned the plates in, it contains very specific information about whose plates, car, etc. I don't want this guy to be screwed. I'm gonna take it to him tonight.

$150 Brat
The guy we bought it from called yesterday. Apparently, DMV messed something up and didn't record that we had turned the plates in. The dude got his driver's license revoked. Crap. Suggestions?

Weberized Brat still refuses to idle

Pic of wagon after solid axles and tire upgrade!
It looks like a dodge magnum to me.

New wagon has problem
Try PM'ing CCRINC. BTW varnished fuel, mixed with good fuel, still runs like crap. I was dealing with that today.

Turbo q
I guess I ought to slap a newer turbo on there when I put the twe header and downpipe on (when they get here). I've got another turbo in stock.

Turbo q
The turbo only has 200k+ on it. It's still good:brow:

Replaced head gasket - BLINKING Check Engine Light with Cylinder 2 misfire
Nug replied to bearbalu's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXPut-putting is misfiring. Typically, you want to see 90 psi on the 1st revolution of a compression test. Did you use a screw-in compression tester? For the first-timer, they are a little more foolproof. I would do a leakdown test on that cylinder, and pinpoint the (theoretical) leak. This is where leakdown testing really comes into its element. I would take the car for a nice hard run, and see what it does afterward.

seafoam
Nug replied to treeman's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThere are some (like myself) that believe that the crankcase should just contain engine oil, and if the oil is changed often enough, then no cleaners or other additives will ever NEED to be added. That's all. P.S. Seafoam kicks rump roast.

First Post: Newbie that would like other Subaru Owners Input
Nug replied to Beaudiggity's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXWell, they tend to leak a lot, but you know that already. Do you know when the timing belt was changed last?

'99 forester -- shaking while stopped?
Nug replied to Kira's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXThe likelyhood that there is something seriously wrong is very, very slim. What you are feeling is a cylinder misfiring. It's runnin' on three instead of four. Several different things can cause this. The most common reasons are a bad spark plug wire, a fouled spark plug, or an ignition coil going bad. That burst of power you felt was the cylinder firing normally. The fact that it was "missing" and then running normally again points a finger (in my experience, anyway) toward the three reasons above. The car is OK to drive to a mechanic. What I would do is drive to your nearest Auto parts store, buy a set of spark plug wires, and put them on in the parking lot. Your mechanic will surely want to replace these anyway, so might as well do it yourself, and if they turn out to be the problem, then you just saved a few bucks. If you just want to take it somewhere and have it fixed, that's fine too. There is probably nothing seriously wrong with it.

Turbo q
If the turbo locked up on my rx, would it run? I got in my car and took off, and noticed power was down. No boost on boost gauge. I thought the wastegate was stuck open, but no whirring sound from turbo. Car was shut off and restarted later, and it was working normally. It sounded a little different, a slight change in pitch. Thoughts?

open timing belt failure
I got my RX inspected today, and was berated because I didn't have my covers on. I would have said something, but since they passed the car with no muffler and three bald tires, I held my tongue.

Should I just give up on air suspension?
I read the title of this thread and thought "yes".

Blowing oil out of the intake again...
Try a genuine OEM subaru valve. Also make sure all of the pcv hoses are not clogged up.

Can I swap spark plug wire 2 and 4?
Nug replied to bearbalu's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXPerfectly acceptable method.
