  1. You said you replaced the fuse, is the fuse still good, or did it blow? If you are blowing the fuse when you put it in, then you have a short some where obviously. So I would try looking at the wiring and check to see if there is anything obvious...
  2. Thanks Hopefully alot of my work can be transferred over, I am in the process now of figuring that all out And about Chiropractics... I have always been a results oriented type of guy, and I could care less about how the result was achieved, as long as it was achieved. With that being said, after my first accident I went to my family doctor and then proceeded with physical therapy. After 6 months of no improvement, I decided to try anything, and tried chiropractics out just because I was in so much pain. Well my chiropractors office at the time was located in a building with physical therapy and massage therapy, all in one building. So all of them talked between each other about me and my progress. It was the best treatment I have had, and really only because of the chiropractic side of it. Physical therapy just didn't cut it alone. No offense or anything, but chiropractic care was the only thing that helped me out. Like I said, I don't care how I get better as long as I get better, and I didn't start to get better until I went to the chiropractor, and to me that's more than enough reason to keep getting chiropractic care and to keep recommending it to people Oh, and my Chiropractor does have an MD , so you can't really say he's not a doctor because he is... and his degree didn't come from a website either But this isn't to say that all chiropractors are good ones. I have only gone to ones that friends and family have recommended and gone to before, and I haven't had a bad experience yet! So as long as you play it safe and do your research/homework, chiropractic care is no less safe than seeing your normal doctor.
  3. If it's been clicking, and then it started to do this, that would be my first guess. Replace that guy and see what happens, hopefully that is all it is. If anything you have just replaced something that needed to be fixed anyways
  4. Ahh, that would make total sense with the doors. Would that also be why my locks aren't working really well ? When I shut the door, they tend to lock themselves sometimes, and it would make sense that the doors not closing all the way would cause this. But I replaced the switch anyways, it was missing the boot, and it was all sticky from the electrical tape they put on the door to try to make it stick better They work great now! But we will have to adjust all my doors when I come down, sounds like that will fix up all those "problems" I am really liking Junior now. He's a much better ride and gots more power for sure! When I get the fender and new hood on, he will look even better! We will definitely be using that steam cleaner! I need to go through and seriously deep clean the interior, but its in good shape considering it's age. I really like it. I can't wait to start installing my stereo gear and my paddle shifters, but that will wait until after his tune up. I want everything else to be good before I dive into tearing it all apart and modding the crap out of it All in all, so far I am really happy with my purchase. It was a little more than I wanted to spend, but I think I got a good one for the price I got it for. But only time will tell!
  5. Ya, both my wife and I saw a Chiropractor that monday, and started massage that day as well. I have totaled enough cars to know that it is very important to do that in order to avoid any more serious injury Thanks for the tips, I am going to look into some sort of driving course over the winter. Best way to learn is in bad weather
  6. I found a 1990 Legacy LS AWD Wagon w/ 146,xxx on it http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=116589 I now have "Mr. Roo, Jr." I am going to be sad not having an "old gen" car anymore (even though my 1990 is the same year as my "old" one ) though. So I guess this is my "good bye" to the old gen section, but I will probably still stick my head in here every once in a while. Thanks all for the help you have given me, and hopefully someday I can join the ranks of the old gen section again. I may gone for now, but I promise you I am not gone for good! Until then, Thanks all!
  7. Continuing with the pics! The engine bay is a little dirty, but it runs like a top! I almost forgot his name! Since my loyale was named "Mr. Roo", I only thought it was appropriate to name the newer one with less miles "Junior", so everyone meet Mr. Roo, Jr! You can call him "Junior" for short That does it for now. I will be installing the hood hopefully this weekend, as well as the fender and the switches! I will post up more when I get more done!
  8. Howdy all! After totaling my 1990 Loyale Turbo Wagon, I picked up a nice 1990 Legacy LS Wagon w/AWD (4EAT), with the help of Turbone (thanks again man, as always!)! It's got 146,xxx on the clock. I am the 3rd owner. It was owned by the girl's grandparents before she got it, and then she got a newer "upgraded" Legacy, so she sold this one ! I have the maintenance records for the last two years. At about 135,xxx they had a compression test done, did a brake job front and rear, and replaced the drivers side axle. At about 100,xxx, one of the Air Ride shocks went out on it, so instead of paying the $600+ or so for 1 new shock, she just replaced them all with "normal" shocks, so all the shocks are new as well and it shows. It's a very nice riding car, especially compared to my Loyale! It's a little bit dirty, but it should clean up super nice with a good wash, wax, and a good going through of the interior. It does have a few cosmetic things I am going to fix on it, but I got SUPER lucky and scored a new hood and a new fender at the JY yesterday that were PERFECT  And it only cost $50! So the drivers side fender is getting replaced with a mint used one, and the hood is also getting replaced with one that only has a few rock chips in it, but NO dents at all! I was super stoked about that. I do need to find a way to either repaint or replacing the bumper coverings on it, but they are not THAT bad. Replacing the fender and the hood will make a world of difference! It also has it quirks on the inside as well, but nothing major. The first thing is the door sensor (the switch that turns the interior light on) on both front doors doesn't workd correctly, so the interior light is always on. Hasn't killed the battery yet But I picked up 2 new switches at the JY yesterday, so that should fix that problem. Then front door locks don't work all that well either, BUT it's not that big of a deal now that I have figured out how to work them. So I will have to tear the doors apart and see whats up with them, but that should not be that big of a deal to fix. Oh, and the power antenna doesn't work, so that will be getting replaced as well. So overall I think I got a great lego that should last me quite a while, provided I don't run this one into a barrier Instead of starting a bunch of different threads, I am just going to update this on with what I do, so I am going to be installing all my stereo gear, as well as fixing all the things that are wrong with it, and installing my paddle shifters So I will be updating this thread often! Ok, so now on to the pics! Here you can see the hood damage, but I don't care since a great hood is going on it real soon! Here's the drivers side fender, someone got into a wreck here, so new fender it is!
  9. Have you check the rear diff fluid? It almost sounds like your rear diff broke or something, especially if you just replaced the trans. I would check that. Maybe a tooth broke off and wedged itself in the teeth of the diff? Also, have you tried putting it up on stands and running it? Then you could tell if the back is moving or not. You should also be able to turn the rear wheels and see if you get anything weird out of that while its up on the stands...
  10. So after talking with my Dad and my grandma, I now have $2500 for a new car! So I got GD looking out for me for a good legacy So I will be getting a legacy for sure This was finally some good news to come my way! So I will be parting out my turbo for sure It does make me sad to get rid of the poor guy, but I just don't have the room It's actually going to be kinda hard to see him go, he was a good car. He did is job and kept my wife and I safe, so what more could I ask for out of the guy? Does kinda bring a tear to my eye to have to part him out, but I just don't have another choice. I already have my MR2 as a project car, I just can't take on another one. I am just thankful that I am still able to write this, and that's all due to Mr. Roo. If someone wants to buy the car whole, that's fine with me. I will be making a thread in the for sale section here shortly... Thanks all for the support and offering to get me on the road. I really needed that right after my accident, so thank you all for showing me that you guys care. It's a great feeling to have so many "strangers" and people I have never met wish me the best, it's a really good feeling, so thank you all for that. Like I said, you all made this hard time for me just a little bit better I haven't taken any more pics yet, but I am going to tomorrow, so I will then post them up. I will also post back with the car I end up getting! Thanks again all!
  11. Wow guys, I can't believe the support I have gotten so far, thanks! You all have made my day a little brighter I really can't believe you guys, that's awesome. I will take some more pics here in a little bit and show the drivers side a little bit better, and try to get some better shots of the suspension damage as well. I really don't want to get rid of my car, but I need to be sensible with the little money that I do have. I also am not car less. I am lucky in the fact that I work graveyards, and my wife works during the day, so we can totally share her car no problem. So I can still get around. I also have my motor cycle and my MR2, so if I really needed a car, I could dump about $250 into a new axle and ball joint and it would be good to go again. But thats more money I don't really have. And then there's the issue of money... My bank, the bank of Mom , will probably only give me money for a new to me car. She won't want me riding around in a "totalled" car. And then even if I were to fix it, my trans is going out, and my motor has 215K on it on top of it being an EA82T, so all those things are going to need replacing at some point here soon, which was all part of my plan and I didn't really mind doing that. But now it's just not really worth all the hassle. I really wish I had more space to store it, I would just keep it and make it a wheeler, but I don't have anywhere I can just dump it and come back to it later. That and I would have to replace the passenger side glass to make sure that the interior wouldn't get ruined and critters living it, so I would still have to shell out money for that. Not to mentioned that I have already had to shell out $500 just to get the car into my garage, so I am already in the hole. I figured I can probably part it out and take it to the JY and at least recoup my money for that. It's makes me really sad to think that way, but I HAVE to be practical. With all the personal troubles I have had in the last few months, I can't be throwing anymore money at a car that won't be my permanent DD It really makes me sad The car really isn't that sentimental to me, it was just a great car that I really liked. It did it's job and save my wife and I, and for that I am eternally gratefully to it. But the timing just sucks rump roast. So when I weigh all my options I am kinda left with no choice but to try to recoup my costs so far and then move on I did learn a lot from this car though, so I am also thankful for that. I just wish things in my life were different and maybe I could keep it around, but I just can't. I will throw up some more pics here shortly, and thanks again guys, your support is overwhelming and mind boggling that you all would just offer stuff up for free to get me back on the road. That is just sooo cool of all of you, thank you so much for the offers, but I would rather see all those good parts live on in another car. I know that at some point if I was to fix it I would be selling it because it just won't make me happy, so that's the main reason why I don't want to take your guys' parts. I would feel bad taking all these donations and then wanting to get rid of it and then selling it and that would not be the right thing to do. Thanks again guys, you all made my day a little brighter, and trust me that's hard to do right now, so thanks!
  12. I hate to see it wasted as well, so if someone wants to buy it whole, then throw me an offer. I just don't have the resources, space, money, or time to build it into a rig. I need a DD first, then a toy, and unfortunately I also need money :-\ So if I can't sell it whole, then I will part it out and send it off to the JY. Totally sucks, but I really don't have another choice right now. This accident happened at a very BAD time in our lives, and what is most important is me getting another car and coming up with money for that to happen. Make me really sad/mad that this happened Thanks for all the support guys!
  13. Well, it did roll for sure, I was upside down looking at the ground, it just didn't roll completely over, it stopped on the top of the A pillar. Maybe "roll" isn't the right word, but we were upside for about 2 seconds for sure. I was aware and conscious for the whole thing. Kinda freaky... Ya, I have thought about taking one of those courses before, but I think it was mainly I wasn't focused on driving, and that was the biggest problem. I manage to not hit the brakes and I tried to ride it out, but the back just got squirely to handle it, and I hit the brakes when I new the car was going to spin backwards hoping for the best at that point. But I think I am going to look into them either way... The main thing I learned is that you should be paying attention to driving and not worrying about other things, period. It all can wait. I was very fortunate in that my stupid mistake only hurt my wife and I, and not some random stranger. Thank goodness for that. I am still mad that my wife got hurt and not me, but I am thankful that no one was seriously injured. That's the most important thing.
  14. So on my way home from Seattle, I managed to total my car on the freeway last Saturday 10-2-10. The car hit the middle median/barrier and then flipped and spun on the passenger side started to go over completely, but then it somehow caught on the tires and righted it self facing the correct direction on the freeway. I really don't know what happened to kick it all off, but this is what I do know. My wife and I were arguing and I was driving down the freeway at about 70mph, and I guess I drifted over towards the median and hit a bump on the side of the road and it jerked the wheel over to the left. So then I tried to correct, and I over corrected, which then caused me to try to correct again, which resulted in me over correcting again, and this happen two more times, and then when the momentum caught up with the car and it started spinning so I slammed on the brakes, and when I did that it dipped the front of the car and it slammed into the median which then caused it to start to roll on to the passenger side. At this point we were facing the opposite direction. "Luckily" we continued to spin, and then the wheels caught somehow and we slammed down on all 4 wheels and stopped facing the correct direction on the freeway. We got really lucky. I walked away with nothing but soreness, and my wife is beat up from flopping around in the car with nothing to hold onto, and when the car was on its side sliding, the passenger window broke out which caused her arm to get some road rash from scrapping against the ground. She was smart enough to reach up and grab me and hold onto me pulling herself up off the ground. So she has a bit of road rash and some glass puncture wounds, but nothing very deep. So all in all, we got SUPER lucky. We could have easily been hit by other cars, or hit another car, but we didn't. It was just us. So after going to the chiropractor and urgent care, we got some good drugs and we are just relaxing and thankful to be here. Here's what my car looked like before the accident: . And after the accident: Here's my wife's road rash: It's funny, but the car still actuallly starts and drives. I drove it off the trailer So the poor thing really isn't dead But it is totalled for sure. The passenger side control arm is bent about 60 degrees up, and it's moved back about 3", so all that needs to be replaced, the A pillar is gone, and the passenger side is all messed up. But all things considered, it doesn't look all that bad. So now I am on the hunt for a new car. This time though I am go with a 90-94 Subaru Legacy. It's a great platform to start off with, and I actually like the lifted Legacy's more than my car, so in the end this will work out. I just sucks to lose a car you put so much effort into to make it your own, only to have to tear it all out. But at least I am still walking, so I am very thankful for that I will be parting the car out as well, so if anyone needs anything off my turbo, let me know. I will post in the for sale section as well once I get around to it I will probably update with more pics in the next few days as I remove gear and what not, and probably to correct some errors, as I have taken some muscle relaxers and I am doing great right now! Oh, and I suggest not rolling your car, its no fun at all.
  15. +1 If it works, yay, if not, just plug it back in... No harm no foul.
  16. I am going to have to swing by for sure man! Looks like a good area to work in I should be getting a 4" lift here real soon, so maybe when that happens we could get together and you could help me install it Either way I will have to swing by and check out the shop. When do you guys "open" for business, or are you guys already working? We need to get you a stereo for that car again as well I love my PG sub and amps! Glad to see you stayed stateside at least
  17. It could be lots of things... Air waves are funny things. Here's a good example of how one could "block" some radio waves. My wireless access point in my house is a linksys wrt54g that I have put linux on to. Since I installed linux, I am able to boost my signal power and turn on some other options that will basically make my access point "drown out" all other access points due to the high power with the anntena and by turn on or off certain options. So keeping that in mind all it would take would be someone that is transmitting something that is more powerful on the same spectrum to cause your remote to "not work". It could be as simple as someone turning on a micorwave. I had a cordless (home) phone that the reception would go to crap whenever the nuker was turned on. Same sort of thing could be happening at your house or your neighbors house causing your keyless entry to not work. Do any of your neighbors have a big satellite dish or a microwave dish around your house/garage? That could cause it to not work as well. Any type of large antenna could be the culprit. After doing some reading I found out that most keyless entry systems operate in the 300 - 400mhz range... That's a pretty low frequency, but someone could be transmitting something from that frequency from a fair ways away and still have it affect you. Maybe try parking your car in a different spot to see if it's any better? Then you could narrow it down by "location" or at least the general direction that something might be coming from. How far away are you when you try to lock/unlock it and it doesn't work? Are you right next to it, or in the house? Are you always standing in the same general place when it happens, or is it a different location everytime? This might sound funny, but when it doesn't work, try holding the remote up to your chin and try it again. Doing this *should* increase the range of the remote, at least it does for me. This way you can see if the "range" of the remote is just crappy. But this is all a moot point if you are standing next to the car and it doesn't work To me it sounds like it's something environmental that is causing it... Very strange.
  18. No worries. Just keep in mind that most everyone here does actually want to help others out, so GD comments where mainly to "steer" you in the right direction so you don't waste a ton of money. There are a TON of noobs that come on here saying the same sort of thing with big thoughts, and then they just waste money and then end up doing it a different way. It has happened before, so that's why he said something. Seems to happen all the time on here... But it sounds like you at least have any idea of what you are getting into. Thanks for all the info, now we have a good idea of what your plans are and what you kinda already know. It will be interesting to see how FWD stand up to the EJ22T power... Keep us posted!
  19. Welcome! I would first like to point out the of all the people that you should really listen to, it's GD. Ya, he's an rump roast (read his avatar), but he knows what's he is talking about. I am sure that if you would have mentioned that you were also building up the transmission, he would had said something different. So on that note, I wouldn't go around just bashing people because you think you might know more, not a good way to start off, especially the added sarcasm. If you didn't want to be a bit** then you should just drop the sarcasm and not be a bit**, it's that simple really. Fill us in more on your whole plan and picture (and that you have more than just yourself doing your project, since that is what you implied at first and what I thought until you mentioned you had a "wiring guy" helping you out), and you won't get comments like his or mine for that matter But anyways and on a non-dickish note, sounds like you have a really fun project, and you have most definitely come to the right place to look for help and knowledge! I can guarantee that if it can be done, it's probably already been done here Good luck!
  20. The battery I have in my Loyale is the one I bought for my MR2 before I retired it , and it's a different size than the one I pulled out of my car. I don't even know if it's suppose to "work" or not for my car, but it works fine, no problems. And I picked it up at walmart. I don't really know why you would have any problems, my just fit right in, no modification or anything. If you really don't care that much about it, just use zip ties, or use them as a temp solution until you can get the right parts. Just make sure you use the fatty zip ties, not the small, thin kind. I did that for my MR2 for about 2 years and didn't have any problems. Like mentioned previously, you should be able to find the battery "straps" (J bolts) and any local autoparts store. As for using an optima, they are great batterys and one of the nicest things about them is that you can recharge them if you drain them without losing any of the batteries capacity. This is really nice if you drain your battery leaving something on as it won't harm it to completely discharge it and then recharge it. I also know people that have been using their redtop battery for 10 years before replacing it. My buddy has had one now for at least 4 years and never had a problem with it and is still using it to this day. I haven't heard of optimas not lasting, but again, I have never owned one, I am just going off what I have "seen". The added "power" the battery CAN produce won't hurt anything. Keep in mind that the CCA rating and what not are the MAX it can put out, so I highly doubt that a loyale will pull all the power available from the battery, so it should be just fine. But I will say that the optima is a little over kill if you are just running stock equipment. Any normal battery should work just fine. If you do go with the optima, you *might* have to redo some connections to the battery, but I really don't think you will. I have seen optimas installed in soobs before without any modification, but I have not done it myself so I really don't know. But even if you have to redo the ends, it's not that big of a deal. I just did it on mine for my stereo install and it was a piece of cake if you use quality parts Basically I would just make the darn thing fit. Like I said, I made my battery that was designed for my MR2 fit into my Loyale, so you should be able to get the costco battery to fit as well. Can't imagine it being so far off that it will not fit at all. If your hood closes, then it should be fairly easy to get the battery to stay put if you use a little bit of creative thought Good luck man!
  21. I honestly wouldn't bother cleaning it, just grab one at a junk yard. I got mine for about $8 I believe and works great. The system is really simple. Just the one fuse for the power door locks in the fuse box and that's it. So unless your wires are pinched/cut, then it should just work. Probably it's just old and needs to be replaced. For $8 it's worth swapping it out first to see if that's your problem IMHO.
  22. Do you have any idea if the cruise was factory installed or dealer installed? For the ea series body style there were a couple of different types of cruise systems available, one from the factory (which you might have because you have a turbo and need a vacuum pump that was only available from the factory I believe), and a dealer installer one. The reason why I ask is because the dealer installed system is a complete stand alone system. It's not integrated into the ECU or any of that crap, unlike the factory one that is integrated into the car alot more than the dealer one. So if your system is the dealer installed version, then it should be really easy to figure out why it's not working before doing the swap and then fix it. Because it's standalone it doesn't matter what engine is in the car or what ECU the car is using so it makes it MUCH easier to get the cruise to work. The dealer installed system has a black box under the dash down by the hood release. It uses a pedal actuator that is controlled by vacuum to control the cars speed, so nothing to attach to the engine or anything, just the gas pedal. I think that this system would be the one you would want, because it is independent of the motor/ECU. I picked up a complete dealer installed unit in the classifieds a few months back, so they pop up every once in a while, and I would go this route. Here's my thread that has a little bit more info about the cruise stuff that I did and my trials and tribulations to get my cruise working properly in my turbo wagon: http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=105299 I hope some of this info is helpful!
  23. No worries man, I do IT for a living, so I don't mind helping people out where I can!
