  1. Right on dude! Junkyard treasures are the best.
  2. Combine TOS, an automatic, and a carbed EA81, and you'll struggle a bit on hills. You'll struggle to 400,000 miles, but you'll struggle . My '93 is FI and even it struggles on hills if they're steep.
  3. That sucks, dude! My Loyale just got broken into, I know the feeling. Hope you are able to pinpoint the culprit.
  4. I'm up for a caravan. Southcenter is really easy to get to - the Tacompton dome parking lot is too damn confusing and usually closed.
  5. I've had two Loyales, a '92 and my current '93. I cannot praise these vehicles enough. Their unwavering reliability, sturdy, low-maintainence design, and ease of repair is incredible.
  6. From what I gather, you've got a '93 Loyale, like me. It looks like you checked out my writeup, which really should answer most of these questions. Granted, it's for stereo installation, but check out the sections relating to fixing the common-ground problem. Should point you in the right direction. http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/article.php?a=57
  7. Not true. Not quite sure what you mean by "static" in the engine's electronics, but the radio being on is not going to help anything, I'm afraid.
  8. Made one out of a can of Foster's and some steel wool. Zero power increase, but man the inside of my intake is clean!
  9. 3M Adhesive Cleaner will do wonders. It's safe on cured paint, too. Just take a rag, soak it, and hold it on the area for a minute or two. Then, with a credit card (preferably your wife/girlfriend's) or a Bondo squeegee or some smooth, relatively sharp piece of plastic, scrape the adhesive away. Your thumb will also do wonders for removing the adhesive.
  10. But this is a SUPER STRON magnet! Surely it can attract aluminum! Anyway, a magnetic drainplug can't hurt, but like Caleb said, it isn't going to pick up much. I had one in my old Sentra (iron block, aluminum head), and it picked up some stuff, but not tons.
  11. Bummer deal, dude. I hope get gets it back soon, and in decent shape.
  12. Welcome to the board! That's a mighty fine Soobie you've got there. I love that bodystyle. Any more pictures?
  13. Very nice. Nothing makes a Soobie look great quite like a big ol' set of fogs!
  14. Your clutch should be just fine. Reason being, it's not so much the size of the wheel/tire combo as the weight. As long as you're not trying to roll some monster tires, you'll be okay. I'm running 185/75R14s on mine, and for 30,000 the clutch hasn't gotten any worse. It's in bad shape, but it's in no worse shape . Especially if you opt for the alloy wheels (all kinds of lighter than steel, but weaker), you'll not have a bit of trouble.
  15. I don't keep valuables in there, just a basic toolset for fixing the car on the road and some spare parts. Luckily, I hadn't yet found the time to put all my Diamond Audio gear into the car. Don't think all that stuff will be making its way into the car. I'm thinking of ways to help keep this from happening again. Unfortunately, no one really pays any attention to car alarms anymore, and even if I had one, I wouldn't have been able to hear it from my apartment. Oh well.
  16. Wow... That's all I really have to say.
  17. I thought L-series was Aussie-speak for the EA82, and MY-series was EA81, in which case, he would be looking for an EA82T, right?
  18. Stereo's gone, tools are gone. At least they left the car this time. Once again, my car has been violated. Looks like a pretty quick job, as my CDs are all still there. Cops are on the way. I hate Seattle.
  19. If you decide to sell the Imp, I know someone who WILL buy it, assuming it's decently-priced. My co-worker Ian has been dying for a nice, cheap Imp for a while now.
  20. That I'm not sure of. I'm also not sure if they'll fit on the flapper-style MAF - both of my Roos have had hotwire systems.
