  1. idle is fine. Yes, use the green connectors...but set timing to 20 deg.
  2. manual trans? Are you sure the axle stuff up front isnt shot?
  3. Ok...so what alcohol should I use......
  4. Here is what I was thinking.... EA82 block. 11:1 compression (the limit on pump gas) Pistons/rods. big NA delta cams using nearly stock drivetrain with stock 6500 rpm redline. Spyder lower intake peice...with dual carbs sitting on the top of each cyl bank. Standard vac controlled dizzy, and no electronics at all other than ignition and information return to driver (temps/pressures/RPMs/speed) Lite flywheel, and pullys. PS and alt. with dual v belts....attached to the 2wd xt turbo 5spd trans (best gearing and 5th is tall! 140mph!) with the XT6 clutch and pressure plate. FF configuration....in an 85-86 2WD 5 spd DL sedan (2100 lbs!!!!)...and strip it down...(WOW! Less weight now!) 160 hp? Power when the foot is put down. no lag! And that lite chassis...fastAr than WRX! Almost as fast as STi (if said DL is 1800 lbs after strippage)
  5. So how much pressure does the high side of the pumps put out? Whats the low side max rating? I am going to reroute the lines and add a cooler in line...during autocrossing the fluid gets rather warm and the pump cavitates...
  6. I would like to have the 4eat and all components with it...TCU, wiring harness stuff, shifter, pedal box etc etc....
  7. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7931463472&category=42604 My brain started working overtime when i seen this...

  9. Stock boost is 6.5 PSI. GReddy PRofec B-Spec II confirms that. I woudl certinly check the wastegate actuator.
  10. power power power....ive enver actually driven/rode in an 4EAT of the EA82 era...or worked on on. So...i jsut dont know.
  11. if this current engine doesnt blow up again in the next 10k miles, I will be wanting studs.
  12. I know for a fact that NAPA has the SET (header to turbo then turbo to DP) of the gaskets for the turbo. They are the same as OE. Its like $25-$30 or so.... OE is the better way tho...because you know what you are getting. Any dealer within an area with a higher population of the older cars should have them in stock.
  13. ALL stock subies push. The onyl ones that are neutral for real are the H-6 outbacks really. The 89 has an 18MM rear bar. The 88 has stock. the 87 is stock. The wagon has an XT6 4wd rear which is 20MM. Also has 19MM front. Now....if you drive the RX a certin way...it doesnt have the typical stock subie push...you must bond with the car...feel what it wants, and let it guide you thru the course/track/road etc.... You cant over drive the front of the car...thats when it pushes. This does Not mean drive the car slower thru corners that it doesnt push out....you can DRIVE the car faster than simply powering it in/out. Your RX with the BFGs handles alot better than most of the other stock ones on the same tires. The DL wagon was most cerintly the best stock handling older one i ever had. I'll need to show you how to handle an RX if you come and see Jo thursday... As a side note, I did not notice any difference in handling w/ or w/out an LSD or VLSD.
  14. I had copper ones before. but I would recommend using head studs and not thru bolts for the copper HG....and I have yet to get studs and ive since sold the CU HGs to someone else a long time ago...
  15. XT6 throttle body: take the sypder and trace the XT6 TB over the stock TB location...and bore the stock TB opening out for the XT6 TB....then...drill holes to bolt the TB onto the spyder. There is an adjustment screw on the throttle linkages to adjust idle...primitavely. The cable will need to be re routed and a new bracket made...very tricky to do if a TMIC is in the way...ive had hte IC lay on it and hold the throttle open so it idles at 3k.... :-\ The TPS is something I have not figured out yet...as 85-86 has 3 wire, and 87+ has 4....and ALL of the non ER27 engines with TPS has a different style TPS than the ER27...it wont interchange on the TB...so far the car seems fine running w/out the TPS hooked up....fuel mileage seems to suffer tho... Front Suspension: KYB GR2 2WD struts with camber/castor plates (any legacy/impreza/WRX/STi will work...just widen the bolt holes a teeny bit...WRX and Leone is clocked the same), springs are 250 lb rate, 10 inches tall, and 5.5 inch dia...very common spring size in circle track racing...its a ford size mostly. Solid control arm busing...not perfected yet so no details. GC8 (non RA) steering rack bushings are 95% direct it...sqaure one fits perfectly...the 2/3rds round one needs a teeny bit of trimming. Rear Suspension: Carerra Legends car dampers with the stock Leone top hats...bottom simply add busings to center the bolt up on the bottom. 350 lb spring...has height adjustable collar. damper is proper dampening up to 500 lb spring new. The Bilstien units also fit. XT 2WD turbo 5spd 19MM front bar XT6 4WD unknown trans 20MM rear bar Brakes: TWR braided stainless lines on the front (direct fit from stuff for impreza/legacy) EBC green stuff pads for impreza/legacy (1990-early 1996) with 14 inch wheel-brake package Standardly avalible DOT 4 fluid
  16. k. me now got dem. posty dem soon....when me gets home dat iz.
  17. use gasket works usa for the CU HGs...as they are just as good and less expensive... my experience with CUHG was bad...since i was given incorrect info on how to use them.
  18. I was out running experienced and novice autocrossers. Obviously the novices were not close...the the more experienced ones were closer....some were obviously faster due to really sticky rubber and way more advanced suspension and power... Still...it was faster than most of the cars out there all things being equal. I was NOT trying to blow a HG. The NAPA ones simply do not hold up like the OE ones. Sometimes you will get that random FHI one packeged by a napa brand...most of the time its some POS gasket. 99.5% of the time the car was under stock boost. Never did boost exceed 16 psi for a period longer than 1 second.
