Dude, thats way cool! Oh, and is that rear window still busted out...? Ive got one...on my RX...pending if someone else doesnt get to it first. Actually, Pleiades has first dibs on that, but if we trande for his rear hatch, we can talk on that matter as well.
-
Yeah, seems like it. Its being all wishy washy...sometimes its got power, sometimes it doest. It acts like the Vac advance is not working too...that was an all of a sudden thing since the snow got put on the ground. Adn the vac adv. is hooked up...maybe clogged? arg. Anyhow, that exhaust to way too loud for this neighborhood...time to fix that other exh, and put it back on....and change tires. i dont need no sticking 175/80/13 snow/mud grippers now! Back to the 205/60/13 ultra grippy Tarmac tires! I just need for it to hold together until i get the DL on the road...one more week...hold together...

well, as you can see by the pics, ive installed that. It seems to be better down low...but up high its kinds...iffy, kinda unsure of its self. I guess we will see during tomorrow's commute. 28 miles of high speed interstate, followed by 20 miles of intermediate driving. Edit: oh, the PCV system consists of two 5/8" hoses, one from each cam case cover, teed to a single breather filter. The PCV valve plugged, and this SPFI block doesnt have the rear PCV vent, like the proper turbo/mpfi blocks have.

Dare to Compare- Leg Turbo to EA82T
WJM replied to Skip's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Nice Skip. Pleiades did a complete teardown of both turbos a while back...i dont remember where that thread went...search time. Ok, maybe not a thread, but hes got pics somewhere. -
i dont tighten it quite that much. Usually the really important things to be tight, aka crank pully, need to be tight as a mo-fo. Other things...just past snug...except for the turob bolts and nuts, which are just snug. Otherwise...they seize and break!
-
Run 93 or closest to it at ALL TIMES in a turbo SUBARU. Non turbos, thats fine to run whatever...but id still run 93, cuz i mod it!
-
Well, the oil comsumption has gone down...only to be replaced with no power....and power keeps dissapearing all the time. The intake note is getting louder than the exhaust, cuz the exh keeps gettign quieter. Turob takes forever to spool, even at 3500. Used to spool instantly at 2800! That and I cant hear the turbo make noise much anymore...MPGs are around 24-25. So, im wondering if the cats or something else is causing the exh to be clogged? I hear some rattling inside there...the crossover pipe is nice and tight, and no leaks, i know what its like to have one of those broke or leaking. Ive got a downpipe, no cat, and it just shoots stright down to the ground after the cannister for the cat...im gonna try that. Im itching to throw those Delta cams in as well...just for kicks. Also, the power bad is like this: 2800-4200, weak weak power, 4200+ NOTHING, bogging, and at 4800, detonation, bog, det, bog, and it wont go past it. 1500-2800-decent power, but still bogs some. Thru out the whole band, i get hops and skips and detonation for no reason ever once in a while...like every 400 rpm increacement. Hm....
-
Alright! Too bad about the UPS taking so long, mine was only 3-4 days...Im planning on putting those cams in the wagon...maybe tonight. I think my cats are clogged up....
-
Yeah, looks like a foot or more here. Rea Road area is till a "mess" as people call it. More fun than in Mount Pleasant, where al the roads are clear. And there is only about 6-8 inches there.
-
I usually beat the covers off with a hammer and a long screwdriver, toss them in the can, and move along. Everysingle bit of the covers too, front, rear, middle. My GL-10 has run w/out them for 21k miles now. The DL will too. The RX when i had it running did as well.
-
...and lots of it. About 8 inches or more in the Charlotte area. this is great. my dad even took the outback out and did some scoobnuts. too bad I wasent there to see. And the GL-10 just plows right thru anything in its path...next stop, empty parking lot. And ive thrown the snow tires back on, much fun.

is the SVX AWD? -
TROGDOR!: 3.454 final and there is a reduction on autos. The output for the rear is 3.70 or 3.90, but this is not a 4wd trans. MilesFox: Ive never seen any EA82 trans have a diffent bell housing than anyother EA82 trans. Full time, or 4wd, or otherwise....so the 4EAT would bolt right up. its the wiring that is supposidly the mess. Im gonna get a tach and see where the RPMs are...
-
i had a turbo auto, on my turbo wagon. got 24 mpg. I dont think there are any differences in gearing. lets check... GL-10 turbo 2wd 1st 2.821 2nd 1.559 3rd 1.000 3.454 final with a 0.933 reduction Seems as if DLs were not offered in 1986 with an auto, but the GLs were, and i bet the 1989 DLs use the same trans. Same gearing, but with a 0.974 reduction as opposed to 0.933. Remembering RPMs between my GL-10 back in the day, and a 1991 Loyale i drove once, the RPM difference looking at the gearing seems right. The RPMs will be similar to the RX at speed, vs the DL now. Oh, my GL-10 has the same as RX gearing as well. something like 3400 at 70. I remeber the GL-10 turbo 2wd auto trans giving the same numbers.

Well, due to the seemingly unavoidable end of the engine in the GL-10, more on that later...i was in search of a SPFI auto sube...well, there were two options. 1988 GL 4WD, auto push button. Had some deep rust in some spot on the fender wells, no radio, an XT rad and it overheats. Dont remember miles, above 100k tho. $500. 1989 DL 2wd auto. suprisingly, everything was there. 77k miles, one owner. $130. Well, after getting the DL running and checking it out...power steering is DEAD, its got these 145/70 tires on it...ROFL...and its only running on about 2-4 cyls at any given time. Reason...the 1-3 side's T-belt is 2 or 3 teeth off! Easy fix. Disty cap is not on correct. Easy. I've got new wires, plugs, cap and rotor laying around. Oh, and an accell coil as well. So, i went with the DL, it was also close to home, so i drove it there...looking at it...its the biggest ugliest POS you will ever see. the hood is pretty mangled, the tires look like crap being all skinny, the rear dampers are worn the sensored word out, as i said the power steering is dead, and the interior is a mess. But, the trans is sound, the HVLAs dont tick, and with the t belt adjusted, those RX parts thrown on the ignition, its good to go...and some new fuids, and maybe bypass the PS all together. So, add it to the list. 1989 DL Wagon 2WD Auto SPFI. Mod plans? Yes. A cone filter, and glass pack. thats it! its the Daily beater, looks like one too, and i am aiming to get some HIGH HIGH MPGs...

1. I need to change my two turbo coolant hoses. Anyone have a how to? I've always removed the turbo its self to do the job. You can replace the hoses with the OEM ones, which woudl be HIGHLY recommended, or try what Pleiades did...he got some braided stainless steel line, and used it for the lower hose. Used some fiberglass sheilding stuff as the heat sheild. 2. I keep seeing about the 5 lug XT hub swap... is there a how to/parts list for that? Well...http://corkysrocks.net/Conversion%204%20to%205.htm For starters. A while back, i took on a project, to gather the parts for a full 5 lug swap, and this was the parts list: Front axles (XT6, 4WD) 2 Front Knuckles (XT6, 4WD) R & L Lower Swing Arms (XT6, 4WD) R & L Ball Joint (XT6, 4WD) R & L Tie Rod Ends (XT6, 4WD) R & L Front Backing Plate (XT6, 4WD) R & L Front Hub (XT6, 4WD) R & L Front Disc (XT6, 4WD) R & L Front Caliper with carrier (XT6, 4WD) R & L Front Strut (XT6, 2WD) R & L Front Brake Lines (XT6, 4WD) R & L For the rear Rear Hub (XT6, 4WD) R & L Rear Disc (XT6, 4WD) R & L Rear Caliper and carrier (XT6, 4WD) R & L Rear Backing Plate (XT6, 4WD) R & L Rear Brake Lines (XT6, 4WD) R & L Now, I am not the expert...there were some threads started, but because of some people's dumb reactions/answers/questions...the threads went...badly. Im sure a technical document needs to be created for the USRM, but Corky's site pretty much covers the basics.

those part numbers ARE correct. I use them all the time! I work at NAPA, and in my opinion, those ECH sensors were crap compared to BSH. We also sell the BSH starters and alts, and regulars prefer the BSH to the RAYloc stuff. How about I made those AE pads smoke on my wagon? lol
