  1. Ive got 4 oil cooler adapters for the EA82T....for sale. GREAT info once again Marnix!
  2. OK....I gathered as much. Now what about the casting method for the EA engines?
  3. Well, I wonder what it (the grid pattern) is for the EA engines...for the EJs it means closed deck. Does it also mean the med. cast method? For the EJ22G, it means med cast AND closed deck. But the EAs....we know its closed deck. Its definatly NOT open deck. Can see that with the eyes. But med cast...how do we tell?
  4. look at Marnix's pic for open deck, then look at the ones for closed deck. Also the grid pattern is a clue. Whether or not its a med. cast or high cast doesnt matter right now. Only SUBARU really knows what cast it is.
  5. Exactly skip....I want to know for sure. It does look closed deck to me.
  6. Actually, i just checked it out, it wasent me...but I do know who it was....someone with a GL-10 T-wagon with a whole bunch of RX goodies.... I AM bidding on one tho...
  7. Yeah....I found some 250# and 330# springs (front and rear respectively) that sit in the stock struts perfectly, those effectively lowered the front, but almost kept the back where it was...its only dropped about 0.5".....yes yes, corner you say? Corner. Especially with these camber/caster pates maxed out.
  8. The EA82T block is gridded. I have the pics, just need to find a place to put them. I have yet to dig out a non turbo block to see if its gridded.
  9. Pending on whether or not i get a certin IC...and a hard drive...I'll have $50 in my paypal. the more i think about this, the more i want to do this. I *KNOW* i wont have the time to make something like this, much less find all the stuff to make it.
  10. the question is....what injectors to use? stock? And how will they hook up/tie into the rails? Barbs? or....?? I have an interest....but like the rest of us...money is not common! lol
  11. Technically. But when you are trying to get more HP....take for example, a true JDM STi engine...EJ207. By putting the best Jap pump fuel in the tank, you can probalby get 320hp no problem, STOCK. Its rated at 280 from the factory. Here in the usa, the same engine, on the best pump gas we have to offer...it will run like crap, and probably net something like 260 or so. Quite a loss. That is NOT to say that more expensive gas will give you HP...but it give you the capability to extract more power from an engine. WRXs in Japan run 250 stock, while here, its 227. Not that those two engines are not the same. Cams, heads, ECUs, all are different, to meet US EPA standards, and to cope with the poor fuel we have. My engine, will run like crap on 93 past 4500, unless I retard the timing way back and then it just wont have any more power past that. On 100 octane, it pulls like a mo fo from 1800-3600...and drops off a little and still pull like crazy to 6k. I am sure someone can explain better than me the dynamics of octane better than I. All i know, if if you take a stock N/A EA82, and run 87 vs 93, either one will give the same performance. With mods...the 93 will net more power over the 87. Likewise with 100...you'd be running 12:1 compression, race cams, some wild intake and exhaust....
  12. I can see it now: "EA82T Forum, for those with an EA82T looking for mods and information"
  13. East cost meet? Opps...better not start that here... So you got cams ordered! GREAT! Are you going to keep with a stock turbo bottom end...or something special?
  14. I have....err, HAD the cams that Dennis just ordered. very NICE! I sold/gave them to some one on the board... I had them in my Racer RX project...but it ate 2 sets of headgaskets in 8 days. So it parked now. lol Dont worry, the cams had nothing to do with the HG issue.
  15. I am NOT running higher boost presures. I am running 9.5:1 pistons under the FACTORY turbo setup. Yes yes, I understand what you said about the spark/volts. I was just trying to put it simply. The IC issue...I totaly agree. I am going to get one, no doubt. I will do a setup with it, and try pump gas again.
  16. I bet its a GL turbo, D/R 4wd 5spd. Probably something simple wrong with it. I just emailed the guy. I am gonna try to save the whole car.
  17. EJ20 open deck vs EJ20 closed deck? or EJ22? I am going to look at the blocks I have here, dig them out if I can, and see if there is that grid pattern.
  18. I used an EA82T flywheel (to my knowledge), and XT6 (for sure) clutch and pres plate...BUT, my flywheel was lightened and had some other special work done....by the Skip'ster himself.
  19. Buying race fuel sure gets expensive....expecially on the DAILY driver...
  20. Same AL, just a different way of making the block. High pressure cast for most everything else...means it got air bubbles in it and its no so strong. Medium pressure means there are no bubbles, and its stronger....but it takes a better cooling system to take the heat away from the block, as it hold head better. Someone hit it well on NASIOC, in a thread I read a while back.... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=352136&perpage=25&pagenumber=1 xephyr: Maybe its a different AL...but i think its the same, just a different process to make the block. Forged steel vs cast steel, right? Oh and I do have the SAE document he is talking of. I think i have it online as well, if anyone is interested. http://www.geocities.com/wmaham1701/other_files/subaruengines.pdf Here is a chart of most of the engines SUABRU made...I dont know who made it...Marnix maybe? (copy and paste the link) http://www.geocities.com/wmaham1701/other_files/subaruengines.jpg Have fun!
  21. DO YOU KNOW WHAT JUST OCCURED TO ME?!?!??!?! Sorry for the excitement.... BUT....the Legacy turbo block is closed deck. So is the EA82T. It is gridded, both of them like that....unless I am remembering something completely wrong. Are the EJ20G/K/7 gridded too? And a medium cast like the EJ22 turbo block? If so...that means the EA82T engine is a medium cast. And 300 hp is realistic.....its just so detuned it not even funny.
  22. I am thinking of a cable pull actuator inside the cockpit for the difflock, and not some vac/elec thingy.....
  23. This is cool. Small worlds in the USMB.
