  1. I would think that with an open intake and exhaust, the TD04 would spool just fine....and with a WRX IC, it woudl be fine to run the stock 13.5 psi that its set at.
  2. with this cam, there are no extra mods needed. It woudl be good to replace the cam followers...but those are expensive, new, but easy to come by in junkyards. The cam has to seat anyhow, so why not seat it to an already seasoned follower? I had no problems with this. Them darned chev-I and Ford and MO-par motors need some dang ole new stuff fer dem to werk rite.
  3. there was some wiring issue with mine, due to that fact i wanted to use cruise control. I have one push button switch that i can use to disable the starter, and engage the CC...and ive also had to make the computer think its in drive all the time to i can use CC. i dont know about the wiring on an 89 tho...something similar i bet. And yes, everything will physically bolt up.
  4. its pretty easy to do. Ive done the 2wd auto to 5spd FT4WD conversion...as per my sig says.
  5. sounds like the ecu is reading that the engine is warm when infact its cold. that would point to a failure for the ecu's engine temp sensor...but that may not be the case. Go thru the engine bay, and clean a use di-electric grease on any and all connectors you come across and clean...that has fixed many a problems on these cars.
  6. I never had any issues with timing with the delta cams. Oh, VJs are what them Honda guys use on their crap. some JDM stuff for inline 4 cars that are tranverse mounted engines...
  7. or its just a bare core. NASIOC, i came up with several potential buys, but they either didnt have one or more of: BOV, y-pipe, or the metal pipes after y-pipe. Some came with Samco hoses but no metal pipes...or some other weird combos. And compared to other prices, this is good for a complete one that looks about brand new. Although...ive seen complete ones go for alot less...still, I'll be a very happy SUBARU nut when it gets here. Which reminds me...hood scoop time.
  8. its possible, give them a call. http://www.deltacam.com/index.htm
  9. 1: How much you paid to get your cams done, $120, shipped. 2: What car you got it done on, My 1989 RX. 3: Cam specs, Same as Tex. Ive got a scanned pic somewhere. 4: Time it took to receive your regrinded cams, Couple of days to get them back...once i sent them. 5: What power improvements (hp and/or torque) gains or loses have you observed, tested, and/or noticed. Low end power, from idle to 2400, was decreased, turbo spooled INSTANTLY at anything above 2800. power was present from there until you decide to let off/shift. Meaing power to 7500+, i had it up that once...it pulled and pulled. But then again, maybe the low end was the same as stock cams, but it was so pale in gains compared to the high end. I went thru the gears so fast...5th was the only gear I stayed in long enough to take a breath!
  10. So...spyder intake conversion, cams (maybe) and some slight exhaust work, and the wagon will fly more so that it does now.
  11. Falenseraf: Yes, i have some around as extra. email me at wmaham1701@hotmail.com so we can talk about $ and shipping.
  12. I would like to find out more on that matter too. Still, EA82 Turbo ALL THE WAY!
  13. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2459165583 Me make plans now.
  14. tire rack has PLENTY of high performance 205/50-15 tires avalible. It will onyl throw your speedo off i mph at 60...you will actually be going 61.5 or so. I wish I could find 205/40-15....and id be all over the 6 lug or 5 lug conversion...or 15" pug rims.
  15. Ya know, i think you would find putting the engine back together easy'er if the engine was actually OUT of the car...I know that I can have on stripped to SB form in 20 mins once its out, and it takes me 45 mins to get it out of the car. Nice pics, and it looks like you are comming along well. The valve lifters: The peice that the can rides on? Or the Hydrualic Valve lash adjusters? Either way, Ive got some, if you are interested.
  16. Dang it tex, you beat me to it! That reminds me, I need another set of Delta cams... I cant wait to see how you get all that stuff plumbed in and see some dyno results!
  17. I am going to put together a proper turbo engine for this, and see what it does. Thanks for all the suggestions guys, and I apologize if I had sounded harsh at any time.
  18. how does the XT get the best cams of the EA82T? Got specs? The story of my engine...orginal one over heated=cracked head, new head+valve stuck open, boom. So, donor engine: 85 XT turbo engine. So i've got XT turbo cams. Looses power past 5500. RX cams from 1989, pulls TO 6k, then drops off. Delta 677-260's, Pulls until you decide to let out of it...whether that be 8k or whenever.
  19. First off, and I will say this one last time...I am NOT RUNNING MORE THAN STOCK BOOST!! Every post ive posted i have said stock boost over and over. I will NEVER intentionally run more boost than factory set on this 9.5:1 engine setup, IC or not. (although I admit that I did not mention it here due to the fact that I had thought everyone was aware of the fact.) With a stock turbo bottom end...that would be different. and I would have an IC before i boosted more than stock. I know, i know...and ive been working on it for months now, I need an IC. Even with a wideband, how am I supposed to tune the car? spend some x amount of $ i dont have and will never have for some LINK ecu? All these goodies are all well and good, and im all for it and I think its for me...but i DONT have the $. Yes, i might blow up, but this was an experimental engine to begin with. I do think that there are issues that the wagon has with timing that the RX doesnt have...and i am trying to chase that down.
  20. Stock boost. Although with some crazy haribrained home made downpipe, ive had boost creep to 16 psi on the RX, and 12 on the wagon.
  21. Yeah, thats it. lol I, unfortunatly, dont have an IC. IF i did, it would be a stock WRX unit.
  22. I think the fact that I DONT have an IC is one thing...but then again, when I run RACE fuel ,100 octane, i dont have this problem. Also, i dont think a 160 would help this particualt situation. It did the same with a 192 (stock) as it did a 180....but the engine was stronger. Also, I am not able to get a 160 around here...otherwise, id try it. Water Wetter? whats that? I am about to go mess with the fuel system again, just for kicks, and see what happens...im bored, and i cant sleep. I was hoping to have a WRX IC fitted before the autocross tomorrow...but that didnt pan out, and I didnt get the oil cooler installed...to cold out...and Installtion is...rather tricky. Space is needed...and I dont have what I need...got to re-engineer some stuff!
