  1. I know this sounds crazy.....but i was thinking about this today...one Throt body for each head, and Air flow meter....to achieve Dual SPFI! Ofcourse, this would be a replacement for the stock EA82 SPFI with the single port heads.... More airflow to complement the Delta cams and such.... Ofcourse, a custom manifold would be needed for this.
  2. One cam up, one cam down. doesnt matter which is up or down, as long as they are 180 of each other, and as long as the engine is at the center of the 3 timing lines on the flywheel/flexplate. No TDC. I only use TDC, #1, to re-time the disty. In that case, the cams are nowhere near up or down. Ive just done that job on the DL.
  3. You will ahve these things sometimes. Ive learned that the EA82 subes will be tempermental with you....like my GL-10, it sat for 7 years, and it didnt like that, so it took it all out on me. Waterpump, head gaskets, oil leaks, many many things...and not all at the same time, but once thing after another....then, ultimately, a rod bearing. After re-resurecting...axles...clutch issues, radiator. Finally, the AWD conversion came along and she was fine for about 6 months. Now, some kind of issue with cylider #1. The RX had all kinds of issues. The DL...its spit some intake gaskets out at me...got really worn out struts/shocks....otherwise, im giving it some TLC and Delta cams right now. Shoudl be running in a hour or 3.... One tihng Ive learned...be patient, and take things one at a time as the car throw them at you. If you fix it right, it will like you better and wont be as troublesome with you.
  4. or EA71....EA82 components will work, you will need to get the gen1 or gen 2 (as the 88 EA82 powered ones are gen 3 for the old subaurs) fuel tank. Those EA81 and old subes are different, they have two different version of gas tanks...2wd and 4wd. 4wd tanks are shape'd to accomodate the rear diff up under there. The EA82 powered subes ALL have 4wd tanks, but i belive the tanks bentween gen 2 and gen 3 are different...so they wont swap out each other. The tank on my 2wd DL, and what WAS my 2wd GL-10 are the same as any other EA82 powered 4wd tank. Ive done the 4wd conversion...not that hard. But then again, ive not done it on a pre EA82 sube. Should be similar...
  5. i think maybe they are in an extension housing as well...BUT, in order to dial it in so fine like you say...would require lots of electrical work. As those trans only have 2 or 3 solinoids that control the TQ split, one for 50/50, 90/10, and one other one....i dont know what it did, or maybe i am mistaken out the third one. I dont know if you could go over 50% to the rear...that would be cool tho. I know that SUBARU stated in their sales information that the WRX autos have the TQ split at 45/55...."for a more sporty drive" or something like that.
  6. yeah, having those plus wires messed up will do the trick.
  7. I assure everyone that NAPA timing belts are good to use on the EA82, turbo or not. I use them. Ive not had any trouble out of any NAPA parts, and BA parts are pretty much the best thing NAPA carries.
  8. Well, almost 23,000 miles.... For the last 500 miles, cylinder #1 has been DEAD. No compression. It was a two week death...started burning oil, more oil, compression slowly degraded to nothing. So...with the injector for that cylider unplugged....ive been driving it like so...500 and some miles so far. ON the interstate, 72-80 mph is what i travel at...and 80% of the time, im seeing 1~4 psi of boost, just to cruise. ANY uphill...and its to the floor. I am really happy that the engine has lasted this long, I originally slapped it together just to get the car running and on the road, then it really turned into something to pay attention to, as no one has done this, and drove it like I have done. Ive always ran Mobil 10w-30 full synthetic in it....but since its using up 1 qt ever 75-100 miles, ive switched to the NAPA 10w-30 synthetic oil....after all, at emplyee costs, NAPA is 2.49, vs Mobil at 4.84...you do that math. 100 mile commute everyday. So right now, the DL is undergoing cam replacement, and cam case/valve cover reseal...and i will drive it until i get a new engine for the GL-10...i'll drive the GL-10 until the engine completely goes...and we will have a documentation on what turbo'in that 9.5:1 shortblock will do to it. Well, thats that....its on its last legs....how much longer until critical failure?
  9. the center diff package DOES make a difference. Vicous coupling vs open diff....but the Autos, are the same in operation and theory. The technology improved when subaru came out with the EJ series.....thus a better name, and something that stands out....no one knows about AWD. Plus, they still called the legacy AWD model...a 4wd car! I think it was 1993 or 1995...somewhere in there the AWD term was really starting to be used. Maybe that came along with the Impreza...
  10. Lemme get some of that....wmaham1701@yahoo.com *NOTE* That is the place to send pics, no one email me there, cuz i dont check it. I can recieve larger files there...dont do email correspondence there.
  11. ...........you will give me that D/R trans and rear diff.
  12. all of the 1985-86's ive seen had painted bumpers. 87 changed that. Except for RX's....
  13. 2left....Reserved for Skip and Tex.....
  14. Ive got an owners manual from 1985 that shows specs for 1985....lists GL-10 4wd versions. came with my 1986. Covers 1985 and 1986 year models.
  15. GC6 is the USDM code for the 2.5 RS sedan and coupe. Otherwise...it goes from there for all different Impreza models...sedan, coupe, wagon, outback sport, L, LX, Brington, AWD, 2wd....etc....
  16. i got parts from an 85 2wd turbo XT, and it has a 12mm rear. Its on the ground. that parts XT was 86. 18mm. Its on the RX Ive got an XT6 4WD 20mm on the rear of my GL-10.
  17. WARNING! Only 3 adapters left.... Once again, Skip and SUBARU Tex has first dibs...one each unless they want more...so that really leaves one....
  18. they certinly are NOT on the engine anymore... Gee, whats going to go in their place if I am drive this as a daily while i fix the GL-10? Hm, must be those Delta cams i had for the RX.....
  19. Well, i was taking the intake off to replace both leaky intake gaskets on the DL...and as you will see from the folling pics...i did a little more than loosen the intake...
  20. Ive seen a GL wagon, with sunroof, digidash....carbed engine with 5spd....it was my 5spd donor car for the interior parts. And yes, 1985 HAD 4WD, autos an 5spds. Turbos too.
  21. I ran stock 25 deg on my RX....but i didnt really play with it...try 25, and go from there.
  22. right click and 'save as' its a zip file with 3 pics in it.
