  1. So you are tearing up front axles? What happens do the boots rip off, do the cv joints break (if so which ones)? Did it pork axles before the lift?
  2. There is a second small fuel filter back under the car by the gas tank. Have you changed it yet?
  3. If the carpet is wet (common this time of year) the moisture can cause the windows to fog up all the time. Is the car dry inside?
  4. @GD Will they start and run with the diagnostic connectors plugged in? I have never tried it.
  5. I usually just grab a screw driver and insert it in to the spark plug wire boot. Hold it a little ways away from ground like the engine block while someone cranks it over. The spark should jump a small gap. You can also use a spare spark plug. Make sure to provide a good ground for it. Lay it on the engine or something.
  6. Do you have spark at the plug wires when you crank it over? This will require two people.
  7. Timing belt or distributor rotor hold down screw came out.
  8. I have done the EA81 SPFI conversion a couple of times now. In my opinion it is a waste of time. They never seem to run right. This was on a fresh engine with shaved large valve heads, delta cam, etc. It always seemed too lean to me. I hope it works out for you, I won't do it again. I will either go multi-port (yes I have EA81 multi-port heads) or an EJ swap which is the route I ended up going. Good Luck! Please post your progress if you go for it.
  9. Where are you going to find the engine parts like gaskets, rings, bearings, etc? Do you have a line on them yet?
  10. I haven't looked up the procedure but that looks like a job for a slide hammer. Good Luck.
  11. Removing it and carefully going through it. Better find a gasket set first.
  12. That looks like it is going to be really hard to find parts for. If you think trying to find an EA series oil pump is bad .......
  13. In addition to the front seal you are going to want to pull the oil pump and replace the oring seals too. Be careful not to break the pump when pulling it off. Twist it using the filter as a handle don't pull real hard or you'll crack it.
  14. Have you checked the axle nut to make sure it is still tight?
  15. I have used the Ebay ones without any trouble. You can find them here. Ebay EA82 Lifters Try Mizpah precision for rebuilding yours. You can find them here. Mizpah Precision
  16. Try running shop air pressure in to each cylinder and watch for bubbles out the radiator. This works very well. Use a compression test gauge adapter to hook the air up. Turn the engine around by hand until both valves are closed.
  17. I already have the multi-port heads. I grabbed everything I would need from an '87 XT in the pick-n-pull yard.
  18. My EA82 lasted for 257,000 miles with little or no maintenance before it finally blew a head gasket. I bought the car for the going rate of scrap at the time (about 5 years ago). I took the engine out and completely rebuilt it, pistons & rings, bearings, all new timing components, water pump, lapped the valves, etc. I have been driving it for 5 years now. It's clean and quiet and runs great. It gets good gas mileage too. It has enough power for what it is and it still has the original oil pump, hah. The SPFI is soon to be replaced with a multi-port Spyder setup. Congrats to you! Good work
  19. Welcome! Take a look here for 1 option. I have had the SJR EA81 4" lift on my wagon for years and I really like it. Scott makes EA82 lift kits too. http://www.sjrlift.com/
