  1. Where are you going to find the engine parts like gaskets, rings, bearings, etc? Do you have a line on them yet?
  2. I haven't looked up the procedure but that looks like a job for a slide hammer. Good Luck.
  3. Removing it and carefully going through it. Better find a gasket set first.
  4. That looks like it is going to be really hard to find parts for. If you think trying to find an EA series oil pump is bad .......
  5. In addition to the front seal you are going to want to pull the oil pump and replace the oring seals too. Be careful not to break the pump when pulling it off. Twist it using the filter as a handle don't pull real hard or you'll crack it.
  6. Have you checked the axle nut to make sure it is still tight?
  7. I have used the Ebay ones without any trouble. You can find them here. Ebay EA82 Lifters Try Mizpah precision for rebuilding yours. You can find them here. Mizpah Precision
  8. Try running shop air pressure in to each cylinder and watch for bubbles out the radiator. This works very well. Use a compression test gauge adapter to hook the air up. Turn the engine around by hand until both valves are closed.
  9. I already have the multi-port heads. I grabbed everything I would need from an '87 XT in the pick-n-pull yard.
  10. My EA82 lasted for 257,000 miles with little or no maintenance before it finally blew a head gasket. I bought the car for the going rate of scrap at the time (about 5 years ago). I took the engine out and completely rebuilt it, pistons & rings, bearings, all new timing components, water pump, lapped the valves, etc. I have been driving it for 5 years now. It's clean and quiet and runs great. It gets good gas mileage too. It has enough power for what it is and it still has the original oil pump, hah. The SPFI is soon to be replaced with a multi-port Spyder setup. Congrats to you! Good work
  11. Welcome! Take a look here for 1 option. I have had the SJR EA81 4" lift on my wagon for years and I really like it. Scott makes EA82 lift kits too. http://www.sjrlift.com/
  12. My engines are more a work of art than junk but thank you for the opinion anyway. I don't trash your "Junk" whatever it is
  13. These are great old cars and due to the ancient ignition lock design just about any old subaru or nissan key willl work. I have a dozen old keys or so and one of them almost always works in the cars at the yards. As in your other thread I'll keep an eye out for it in the north end. Good luck in getting it back, it looks really nice.
  14. What is the general opinion on using full synthetic engine oil and gear oil in our older Subarus such as EA81(T) EA82(T) EJ22(T) ? Have you tried any? If so what was your experience?
  15. That sucks. I'll keep a look out for it the northend. What is the plate number?
  16. Pull the bolts out of the pump and try rotating it slightly in either direction. If you pry on it it will usually break. If you are gentle with it maybe it will come out in one piece.
  17. I have had an SJR 4" lift on my 1983 GL Wagon for almost 10 years now and I really like it. I have not had a CV boot or joint go bad in either the front or rear. I am pretty sure I used Rancho RS5000 shocks in the rear as they are longer for the lift. I am using stock struts in the front. I hope this helps.
  18. Do you have them yet? How do you like them?
