  1. He's trying to up his post count (joking)...at least be somewhat constructive though.
  2. Wow, this sounds like when my friend and I tried to take his axle off of his ea81. I think someone managed to get the roll pin in when it was a tooth off. We were taking the tranny out anyways so we left the axle attached then removed the tranny, that was very odd. When we had it out, I stuck a cutting torch in the hole and it heated up the rollpin material way before the axle or stub got warm. Once the material was glowing we tried to punch it out, worked a little bit. So I got it red hot again and then blew it out with the torch. If you're not taking the transmission out, try heating it up, the roll pin. Make the pin red hot without making the stub or axle cup red hot, then hammer a punch through it.
  3. It's a piece of history . Really? I could think that a little known vehicle that the Americans used in WW2 that had 4wd (a jeep:lol:). Seriously, I wonder if I could get $15,000 for my RX, it has ALL WHEEL DRIVE...and a TURBO (Which Subaru made before and longer than any other car manufacturer!). Yeah, WTF.
  4. Or maybe, why? There's more efficient ways of being efficient. Cool concept though.
  5. The first is here and the notes of interest are here. Is that what you wanted? Or did I just completely crap out?
  6. Very good point. I don't look at it as burning down, I look at it as weight reduction.
  7. That's good to know as I don't like bogging in the mud . I like the technical trails and stuff. But I am also not a die hard off roader, I want to be, just need more time. I don't know if it was clear in my post, I don't own those tires, I was just looking into them. Now I'll save my money for better tires.
  8. If you use the right size wire, right size fuse, and right amperage of switch, you can probably get away without using a relay. But if you know how to install and use a relay, I recommend it.
  9. Nothing special, at all. Just trying to keep it stock-ish. Waiting for my rule book to arrive it's taking forever. Just want to participate in the stock class and see if I can finish. The major thing holding me back from going is logisitics. I want to use my EA81 wagon.
  10. I'm working on something for the Baja right now, I'm hoping to get into the November Baja. But looks like I'll be delayed a year, again.
  11. You inbox is full., empty it.
  12. I think I got mine for $1.20 each. I was offering to sell him 2 for that price. They'd fit in a regular postage envelope.
  13. GD was right on with everything he said, except I don't trust the Haynes manual, it doesn't say to have one cam sprocket up and the other down. Here's MilesFox's Timing Belt Procedure I'd trust it over a Haynes. And, since your doing the timing belts, reseal the oil pump (If your mechanically inclined) it's not too hard. Just search for a how-to or ask. If that doesn't solve the ticking, try some ATF in the oil or Seafoam (It's an additive). I'd do 1/2 quart of ATF. Just make sure to drain 1/2 quart of oil. You kinda have to drive it hard...high rev shifts. It's always worked for me. Once the ticking stops change the oil. If a belt breaks, they are non-interference engines...just replace the belts and get on your way. If you feel like you should replace that O-Ring GD was talking about, PM I have 10 or so I could send ya (they make you by 12 minimum.) Also, you don't have to pull the engine to to the belts, just remove the radiator. Some people don't even remove the radiator, I do though.
  14. I'd go with these They are 27x14x7 tractor tires, which I have 14" Toyota rims for. Of course, not for road driving. I Dont think they'd make a good interface (road/offroad) tire.
  15. Ok, I looked and looked for this number, but couldn't find it. So I had to do the work myself (Wah wah). Here is the Rancho Part Number to the 4" longer shock that fits the ea81. RS5241
  16. Ea82s do use a carrier bearing. All EA82 shafts are 2piece (that I know of). I take it you don't want to use an EA82 driveshaft? An EA82 manual driveshaft should fit, you just have to mount the carrier bearing. Some people weld them on to the body, I weld nuts to the body and use bolts. BUt they are the same length as EA81s. If you can get an EA82 driveshaft and go that way, you could avoid taking any chances of anything going wrong. I'm assuming you know about this and this? They are links to the "How to manual" of installing 5speeds into ea81s.
  17. That's crazy that your steering and master cylinder are on the turbo side. You'd think they would have moved the turbo. I know I know, cost efficiency and all. Nice job though. Just looked at the picture, there's a slight problem with the distributor placement.
  18. What did you use to block the water port? Any chance of it failing?
  19. Put on your Application "will work for parts":headbang:
  20. Lucky. I'm at 4000-4200 at 70, with stock 175's on. I do have a 4speed though.
  21. That's what I would say, the O2 connectors are usually a blade type connector. The Female end is on the car side and the male is on the sensors side, at least that's how it was on my GL-10
  22. Holy crap! That's all I can say. How's he with prices?
  23. Nice, you make the lift yourself?
