  1. the first thing is to buy the ATSG manual for your transmission. its a lot more useful than the factory manual, as it describes common issues and updates. they are worth every penny.
  2. i meant is there a certain brand that everyone likes over another?
  3. my pushbutton 5 speed needs a oil change. im curious what spec of oil it takes and if there is a preferred one.
  4. i thought it was normal for it to idle high when cold. mine does it. i would not adjust it as it goes to normal if i touch the gas
  5. sometimes the right tool (in this case) is more than worth the extra effort wasted trying to be cheap.
  6. im rebuilding my ej22 becasue they are rare here. but im making it better. i have delta cams im going to use Deves rings (gapless oil rings) the head is now ported it has a nice valve job (so small compared to the DOHC heads though probably going to use ARP Connecting Rod Bolts
  7. i would doubt its compression if the vacuum guage is steady as you say. i would think its the mounts like everyone else said
  8. it looks like a good car but i hate the modern high beltline look it has. i like better visibility.
  9. hi im wondering since apparantly ARP makes just the 2 head studs that the phase 2 ones are the same for the phase one? http://www.cnc-motorsports.com/category.asp?CtgID=27757
  10. as we know a good vice makes most any shop task easier. i have decided on a offset vice, and would like to know what people think of them. http://www.dawntools.com.au/products.php?cat_id=1&sub_id=3#6
  11. sounds like a grounding problem. as far as coolant in the oil, it is very bad for the bearings.
  12. well i want to deck it mostly for surface finish. im mostly wanting to know how much subaru permits? as far as fasteners goes-i think its money well spent-as its too late to change them after its together. i was actually thinking of Scat H beam rods for this motor, but decided they were too nice.
  13. my motor needs an over bore. anyone know some good prices for oversize pistons? done so far is crank is gone over- its ok cams are now delta street grind or whatever they called them. head resurface and good valve job might consider head porting if there is any benefit. ive done it before and have experience. so i am left with some questions. is there any room to deck the block on these motors? all the head stud kits say DOHC on the box-is my SOHC available? id love to run head studs! much less to worry about. my water pump! it was in excellent shape when i took it off, and looks like a recent replacement. im not sure i want to buy a new one. :-\ what about rod bolts. the stock ones seem pretty lame. is it a good idea to run aftermarket stronger rod bolts?
  14. ive never heard of needing a choke on a weber. tell me why its needed? i always thought some Weber carbs have an enrichment circuit that does the same thing as a choke without restricting airflow. i agree i would weld a nut to the broken bolt. either that or call someone with a portable EDM...
  15. no this system is actualy very common. similar is used on a lot of rear brakes. i think it was harder to repair the brakes on my jeep, theres no room for fingers. http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e77/erty0/mike%20crap/IMG_2158.jpg
  16. are you going to paint the wiper arms black
  17. check the rotor. thats what broke on mine.
  18. love kroil. i can hold a seized nut in my hand spray it with kroil and in moments its finger loose.
