Fumoto Oil Drain Valve
It's been a while since I added anything useful to the forums so here goes. I finally got a chance to change my oil with the Fumoto Oil Drain Valve. Wow, no tools needed to drain...just flick the lever to drain and then return it to its locked position when you fill up! Certified as OEM equipment by Subaru and for ~$25, it makes oil change procrastination very hard to do. The part number is F105 for ALL Subaru models. If you want a nipple to attach a hose onto it, the number is F105N, however, I think the nipple would be ripped off or damaged especially with some of you crazy folk here Visit the web site for all of the tech stuff, but the short rundown is corrosion resistant forged brass and stainless steel construction. The ball valve design provides a straight flow for efficient drainage and a perfect seal when closed which is very similiar to high pressure valves used with gases, yada yada yada...... Take care, Kevin

kevinsUBARU replied to timn29's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI squirt the hose connections with WD40, wait 10 minutes, then twist them off with a rag/plyers slowly! Ever open a bottle of champagine? Use the same method of easing off the "cork" very slowly. Some gas will come out (drip drip, not squirt squirt) and it will not geyser and blind you as some will lead you to believe (yes, I DON'T disconnect the fuel pump). Reuse the rubber ring around the outside of the fuel filter to secure it in the bracket, reconnect lines to the new filter, bing bam you're done It will take a little more to crank it when you first try to start it, but it will turn over once the fuel goes through the other side of the filter...probably like 6-7 cranks is what mine does. Kevin- The Great Legacy Tire Experiment
I ran 205-70-15 on my Impreza sedan for like a week, but they were rubbing on the fender liner in front so I downsized to a normal tire. It sure was badass though...- Not much pulling power AT or Gas?

kevinsUBARU replied to hop's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI would say $4000 MAX if its clean (NO rust, NO tears/cigarette burns, NO paint fade, ect...), but thats on the very high end. kevinsUBARU replied to BlueSoob's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI honestly dont think that 15" rims would work, as they wont clear the brakes. You would need to look into a 15" aftermarket rally rim set, but they are very expensive because of their construction materials.- why is my impreza so slow?
kevinsUBARU replied to rugbyben's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI had the same problem (not being able to break 80mph when I got my Impreza with 44K at 4 years old). Have someone step on the gas while youre looking at the throttle linkage. Is it opening all the way? If it isnt, the throttle cable needs to be tightened. I found a nut that was the length of the slack in the cable, hacksawed a slit in it, and slipped it over the wire at the accelerator pedal. Its worked flawlessley for 6 years. kevinsUBARU replied to jedimaster's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXColonial Subaru in Kingston, NY http://www.subaruoutlet.com About as good as dealer can get (according to my parents...they got their Outback there but I got my Impreza at Ruges Subaru in Rhinebeck, NY) , and the service department is nice also. I live in Woodstock despite what my profile says, and I've had a lot of good work done there. Metric Subaru in Huntington, NY ( http://classic.subarusdc.com/metric/ ) gets very high praises from many Subaru owners. Its closer to you than me, and it would definately be worth a look. kevinsUBARU replied to wrxsubaru's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI think Rally-X is totally safe for any ability level. But since no one said SKIDPLATES, may I suggest them? I have the Primitive Racing aluminum front and the aluminum Mini-Plate in back. Where I have Rally-X'd, there are always huge rocks that somehow surface in the course (old New England farms) and if you hit one of them unprotected, bye bye oil pan! Kevin- Need to change valve covers and fuel filter
kevinsUBARU replied to thelkg's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXMany people reccomend that you unplug the fuel pump, but having changed numerous fuel filters on mine and other Subarus (new ones from 95 and up) I feel its really unnecessary to do so. I do put a little penetrating oil around the hoses at the filter, then I get vice grips and slowly wiggle it off. Some fuel will spill out, but by no means in any case has it ever even remotely come close to spraying! Have fun with it Kevin- Reverse squeal
kevinsUBARU replied to jeddkaren's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXjust out of curiosity, when you're backing up and hear the squealing, does it also feel like there is some resistance (i.e. the brake is on?). kevinsUBARU replied to Cryobrain's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI have the same problem in my 95.
