  1. the crank and cam sensors were very bad when i got the engine they have since been replaced. i have everything else but ZERO spark... spent all weekend milling over wiring diagrams and cant seem to find any reason why it wont spark..... i know its bound to be somthing dumb that im not seeing.....
  2. there is no spark at all pulled the plug wires and nothing there tested for voltage to the coil its good and to the ignighter its good..... but no spark at all.... ill try it (hell ill try anything at this point) but i doubt very much that timing is the issue
  3. ok so im stuck..... got the motor dropped, wiring ran, and now i have no spark.... ignighter tested good coil tested good replaced the crank and cam sensors and still nothing..... any ideas? ecu has power and i have fuel only things not hooked up are the o2 sensor, knock sensor, and i hardwired the fuel pump..... any suggestions would be appriciated. the harness has been completely stripped so no test connecters under dash stuff etc. so basically im looking for what circuts NEED to be there in order for the computer to send a signal to the coil thanks
  4. not from bellingham so not sure that im welcome but do like the layout/concept of this forum!
  5. im just glad this wagon will be there i know i miss seeing it on the weekends lol
  6. In 2000 i bought a 1999 RS off a guy in a similar situation who wanted an 01 OBS. i have done exactly as described above on nemerous occasions i love waving my old cars in the deales face and in fact they have come to embrace it. if anything when it comes to any car i want the last MY as they usually have all the kinks worked out by then
  7. so the car started throwing a p0400 intermittently. it will stay on for a few days and then mysteriously dissapear for about a day then come back. i have disassembled, cleaned and reassembled the egr also replaced the vacuum valve (circled below) any other suggestions or possible loose wires i should be looking for?
  8. stereo door if its not chopped up, window regulators, and doorcars if they arent mangled trans is nver a save item on the svx IMHO no matter how new it is lol
  9. do you have a close up of the pinstripe? sorry i love hand done striping lol
  10. ill keep u posted im terrified of boats but i might tough it out for the ferry lol
  11. behind the wheel: build pics of me: and for all those people who say "ive never seen your hair up"
  12. u making skidplates now the XT is getting one but i have to get my welder back from the repair shop first
  13. planning a trip to bremerton in the next 1-2 weeks so its a possibility and razorblade FTW as far as gasket scraping goes. timing really isnt that bad my first one only took me 3 hours so its not that bad
  14. same thing applies to off road.... i have seen nemerous VW bugs with conversions running naked and bending valves due to rocks, sand, etc. just put the dang things on its not that big of a deal lol
  15. looks amazing i just got an entire front clip off a wagon to do a front end conversion on a 79 it will be kool to see yours rolling
  16. Lots of write ups on here about timing and it doesn't require any special tools. Ej swap is pretty involved but always an option. You are GOING to have to scrape gaskets just a fact of car life lol ohh side note where is Sammamish? if its not too far i might be able to swing out and help
  17. 5 spd or auto? mine does this sometimes when the trans lock isnt quite engaged and my rs did it because the clutch saftey switch went bad
  18. theres only one thing i enjoy more than a garage motor build...... thats one i get to watch not have to do lol
  19. i am impressed and i have to see the end result so here i am lol
  20. most of the time they are hairline fractures easy to see on the head next to impossible to see on the intake. that much leakage and the gasket blow (if thats what it is) should be fairly obvious. head gaskets are a dry install as are the intake and exaust gaskets. the valve covers are too so shouldnt need any type of sealant. a click stop will work fine for the heads thats what i use. valve cover gaskets are always next to impossible to spot a leak on which is whay i always have 2-3 extra sets lol and yes those are the correct gaskets for a single port intake.
  21. check the cowl and right above the strut towers. a friend of mine and i chased an interior leak for 6 months in his and thats where we found it. also the corners of the windshild seal
  22. start by draining the coolant (whatever is actually left) and the oil. check the oil for water and the coolant for oil. then remove the intake check those gaskest for cracks or a potential leak. the main reason for me doubting it being the intake manifold is thats alot more coolant then just the manifold can hold. if it isnt that gasket then pull the heads off. remove the exaust and any othe lines etc you see attached to the head. you can do it in the car but its a bit of a PITA but in a pinch it can be done. check the head for cracks and the gasket for a waterjacket to compression blow. replace the head if cracked or have it resurfaced if it isnt cracked. make sure you get all the seals and gaskets you need and invest in a tourque wrench. put it all back together with factory tourque specs and you should be good to go.
