  1. up here we run no covers on most loyales but all are trained on roadside belt changing and carry spare belts with them my 60 year old mom can change here loyale timing belt in 20 min on the side of the road with a canadian tire tool kitt. but add covers and 2 hours of greif
  2. if you take off the ebrakes and unbolt the tone ring there is just enuff room to drift out the old stud and can just get the new one in i use a nut with a stack of washers to pull the new stud in
  3. i do two 2.5 headgasket jobs a week never ending for the rest of my life at least i will always have work. I could show some pics of the head surfacer in action is neat to see when i surface the blocks how bad they realy are. A'm working on jiging it up to surface a assembled short block strait off the car will try on the 2.5d engine i do on thursday
  4. i use the bfgs on my fishing car very good in mud and rocks not so good in snow realy not good in snow i use there twinn in the snow bfg comertial track with ice studds. Butt for summer the bfgs mud terains are very good and tough. I run a 235-75 r15
  5. itt will work but will have a dead space around the barrel i dont think it will last as long but should work fine
  6. i bett theres crap in the parke brake senser car probly thinks the e brake is on or bulbs are on there way out lotts of intermitant bulbs theese days. had a svx with no daytime runners was two bad bulbs and one broken wire. Customer had changed dlr realy light switch e brake lever ect. easy to get on the wrong track
  7. have been doing alot of the rear leading arm front bushing latly kick the tire from back and see if and movment have had some realy bad ones up to a inch of movement alows the wheel to move when the brakes are applyed
  8. i did a 87 chaser ea81 hydro motor planed the heads and reset the valves and it made nosie in the valvetrain i just base set the valves to the spec but was still nosiey. I think the bottom of the lifter had been pounded in a bitt i never had them out but have seen them worn thru the bottoms before
  9. back to basics check compretion mabee a low hole or bad valve or brakes stuck or sticking feul volume and psi test. I bett its a mecanical problem of some kind.
  10. i bought a kent moore subaru hub and berring replacer kitt for all legacys and outbacks ect cost 1500 $ and have done over a 100 thiss year without thiss tooling is a tough job even with a press and berring spliters
  11. i work with a guy somtimes in kelowna bc who puts 2.2s in vw vans alot he has 6 or more done now uses them as a rental fleet works good and looks good and way more power and tourque
  12. the outback that we were having cold idle problems with turned out to be 2 litres low on coolant toped it off and problem was gone
  13. sorry but tested thery we put a lightend flywheel on a offroad car lett the clutch out and whoud die with the heavy flywheel not at all let the clutch out and drive away
  14. i have seen some problems with the neutral position switch on the standard cars it wears and dosent make the conection to fix give it a turn inwards to crush the aluminum washer a bitt to move the senser closer to the trans to compensate for wear
  15. any i see that the pinion bering is going out its the berring cage that wreaks it the cage breaks up and gets into the berring and eats it up and allows the pinion to shuttle back and fourth. Witch can take out the awd end of trans to by chewing up the output drums and gears. if you can hear it i bett the pinions done.Have had 3 thiss year had smoked pinions lucky i have many good cores with good diffs.
  16. i change out the stock crank pully for a heavyer 2.5 pully and use the hevyest flywheel i can find the more rotating wheight the more touque it makes
  17. the one i delt with was a ea82 t was abble to eat it a bitt did not wreak the engine but i did have to pull the pan and clean the pu and washout the valves i just used very hot soapy water to remove the sugar gum and changed out the injectors and feul fill flushed the tank and drove it home. it was a bottle of sprite as we found the bottle sitting by the car and gas cap was gone
  18. is it posibble the disstributor is assembled wrong have seen the center holdown screw come loose and allow the rotor to move not the screw that holds the rotor the screw that holds the rotor shaft
  19. well i had the assembly off i doubt you could camge it in position but ya four screws and the high low switch comes right off the collum assembly
  20. i looked closer four screws and the switch comes off could just send the switch part if needed
  21. i bett the front 02 is on its way out have had 3 bad ones in a row all did not set codes for 02 but had midd throttle problems hesatations and surging and loss of power changed 02 and happy happy.
  22. check that the diss is not a tooth addvanced or retarded
  23. i see thiss when the hydrolic lifter buckets creap up out of there bore and hangup the lifters whont let the valves work properly or timings off somehow
